thanks for posting this game from a great era, when Orioles were top notch. Was at the game. hard to believe it was 37 yrs ago. Hoyt was a super pitcher in 83. Orioles were so relieved they won the 4th game, as he would have pitched gm 5
Thanks for the memories. Even though we lost to the Baltimore Orioles in 83, it was a great season on the Southside. And me and my brother were at the 50th Anniversary of the All Star game at Comiskey Park.
Hey, my White Sox playing in a game after the end of the regular season. Who ever dreamed such a thing could happen. This was the first time in my lifetime. We thought they could do it around 72-73 with the Dick Allen/Bill Melton/Wilbur Wood Sox, but we knew how that one ended.
I had a throwing session scheduled with the Sox in 1981, during the strike. Unfortunately, the day before I was to throw for them, I suffered a compound fracture in the middle finger of my pitching hand. If that hadn't happened. I may have been with the Sox in 1983.
The only game where Chicago brought their bats to the game with them(barely). After this, they almost literally did nothing at the plate the rest of the series.
Oriole pitching was close to unhittable that October, pitching 2 shutouts against Chicago, with an 11-1 blowout in between, plus another shutout to clinch the World Series against the Phillies, who managed 9 runs in the first 4 games. They only lost once in each series, both by a 2-1 score
In the intro @1:30, the ball caps are circling by and there is a red hat with a curly W on it. Who is that? I own a hat just like it that reps the Nationals from 2018. Oh! And 2 or 3 hats later in the intro is a Montreal Les Expos. I don't get it.???? Third is from 1983?
Washington Senators of late 60's early 70's. I saw caps of teams that did not exist anymore along with Wash. I saw Seattle Pilots, KC A's, also saw old Brewers cap.
Over produced open with hats of clubs long gone and designs from 10 years earlier as well as producer/director credits - all a nod to what ABC was doing then. Costas must have been standing on a large box in that on-cam intro.
I remember watching this game live 40 years ago
A magical year on the South Side.
Watched this game from press row. One of the best times I ever had.

Simpler but better game then. No wildcard games, no pitch counts, no exit velocity, launch angle, set up men, etc.
Exit velocity and launch angle have pushed me over the limit. I can't even watch baseball on tv because it is so annoying.
RIP Lamarr Hoyt!
Such a wasted talent.

Watching to gear up as we approach the Sox 2021 postseason; for my generation this was the first postseason Sox game we ever saw.
50:28 - 50:52 This comment aged very well. Right on the money!
$4 for a program those were the days

Mark Minter Indeed. And Chicago could have beaten Philadelphia in the World Series.
@@travismcdonald6576 Definitely, considering how lousy the Phillies hit against Baltimore. They're lucky they even won one game that series.
@@markminter6312 No doubt.
White Sox won this game 2-1 then went on to score a total of 1 more run the rest of the series.
Unbelievable with that lineup

When a starter would routinely go 9 innings...pitch count?,,,, .. what is that?
Classic 😊

Just saw Angels 1961 halo cap and Mil. Braves cap and Braves 1970's cap.
It was one of the NBC Sports Special
Baseball before the medical industry began scamming all young pitchers into getting the unnecessary Tommy John surgery.
I was.at that play oof game one and game 2 and what happen.to.the game of the week.tbem.song. That was some Acton good music.the need to.bring it back
You spelled playoff and theme and actually wrong.
50:00 right on the money.

Too bad the audio sucks.
