I have this style and have never replaced the string until now. (No, I don't use it much) Looked up the manual for my model and the instructions didn't match my head style. Googled a bunch--nothing to suit my head style except how to replace it with the newer style. Finally I found this video and was able to rewind my string first time, no problem. Wish Milwaukee would have mentioned that it has different head styles.
I have one of these and like it but the 'tap to extend the line' is kinda frustrating, half the time it doesn't work. Also wish you could put a blade on it for clearing bush.
My string head doesn’t look like this one and it’s so frustrating to add more line which is busy unwinding while I feed it through the hole. I am ready to throw this tool away 😡 suggestions?
This weed eater uses 0.080" / 0.095" but I've got a gazillion yards of .065 so until I use mine all up or if it doesn't work, I'll be using .065. If for some reason this doesn't work, I'll report back.
Have had my unit now for almost 3 years, not a single issue with the head. Weekly usage around my house and around our shop/fence line. Literally just changed the string for the first time in it today after watching this video (was a knucklehead and wasn't watching the arrow direction on the spool lol)
H9medepot sold me a lemon. Mine does not come 0ff to restring. It must e Milwaukie protégé of what it was before they rethought their process of how it works now. I wonder if this one I have is worth anything? Hope they just trade it in for the finished product.
They need to get rid of the obnoxious music. It is loud and makes it hard to hear the instructions. The loud beating and chords. You would think it should be part of a violent mindless movie.
Mine looks nothing like that. The spool doesn't appear to be removable and there's no center hook and you have to feed the line through the housing.
Same here. Mine looks nothing like the one in the video...

Great video. Short. Easy to follow. No fluff.
Would be nice if the bump feature actually worked after one year.....
Or ever
Good video! Very helpful. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks again for this video. I only change string once a season so I can never remember how to do it.
whats the largest diameter line this can take?
Great video! mine looks exactly like this one Bump feed still works and everything

Can any trimmer wire be used or is this trimmer wire specially made for this trimmer and no other will work in it?

Does the replacement string need to be twisted, or do other profiles work just as well?
That is for the old style trimmer head ; what about the new style?
I just wanted to know how long to cut the line.....
Same trimmer head that Redmax uses. I wish Milwaukee engineered a better version. These tend to be problematic.
What kind of problems are you having? I just got mine and it seems to work perfectly
Todd White used mine all summer long and never had a single problem

what is the thread size on these trimmer heads?

I would love to review this bad boy!
If one starts in the middle of the line, how the heck do you get them to come out even, on opposites sides, 180 degrees apart?
Doesn't matter. It will cut the ends even just as soon as you being using it.
This is a PITA to restring! Also very heavy trimmer so hard on the arm as I am a petite female. Not my favorite Milwaukee yard tool.

Hello, please send a message to social.media@milwaukeetool.com, if you need assistance!
💪🔥 so pumped
I wish I had that

This is not helpful at all. Can't find any Notch on the spool to tread through. So there is nothing to hold the line in while turning.

Bullshit that not a Milwaukee! Bullshit!
There's a much easier way
New version designed by a nitwit!
Old version. Useless now
