Thanks for stopping by to watch my video. As you can see I like to make little figurines / sculptures / shelf sitters with air dry clay.
I have always had a creative side and I enjoy making different kinds of arts and craftps. It was April of 2020 when I first got my hands on air dry clay and since then my passion for it grew creating home decor pieces that are wonderful and amusing to look at.
I use store bought air dry clay which you can find at any craft or toy shop.
You can also make your own clay with the ff ingredients: 1 cup cornflour, 1 cup white glue, 2 tbsp vinegar, 2 tbsp cooking oil. Mix everything in a pot until completely blended. Place pot over low heat and cook, stirring constantly for 10 to 15 minutes until the clay begins to form.
You don't need special tools to make your sculpture. Heck, I only have 2 plastic clay tools that my kids used for their play doh. And other stuff that I can find at home that I can use.
When making your sculpture, Wait for each layer/part to dry especially when sculpting small details. It's much easier to control, shape and spread the clay when you sculpt in layers/parts.
I've made it a habit of painting my sculptures with something dark first before applying the rest of the colors as it gives some kind of texture and dimension to it.
I hope you enjoy watching the making of this project as much as I enjoyed creating it and perhaps you will be inspired to make something creative too.

You're very talented! Can I ask why you put the dark paint on and then paint colour over the top of it? Could you paint directly on to the clay? Thank you!

Hi, thank you! I like to use a dark color first then go in with the rest of my colors as it gives some kind of texture and dimension. I like the effect. You can definitely paint directly on to the clay.
