@@YokeyDokey i believe there is a glitch with the excursion funnels (the blue or orange light tube things that pull u through the air) that allows you to fly anywhere, and that area of the map does not have collision at that point, so he can just fly through.

So it's not a case of avoiding glitches, it's a case of there not being any. Or they may be avoiding certain glitches, like ACE on Super Mario World and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I'm pretty sure you can complete Super Mario 64 120 Star with exploits, but without glitches. I actually really like both the glitchless and regular speedruns of Mirror's Edge 1. An example of a great speedrunning category that has no glitches would be Trials Rising Diamond%. Another would be Doom UV max, like Eviternity UV Max, as far as I remember, don't think any glitches in that... But great and hard speedrun, anyway...
Also, some games have glitches that made their runs boring af. Take HL2 for instance with the save/load glitch. Instead of using movement to the best of one's ability, you just fly into the skybox and run across the top of the map to the end. Of course theres many glitches that still take skill and I don't understand those who say otherwise
I agree a lot of glitchy categories are boring and just mater of being decent, doing few tricks repeatedly, and most of the time you can retry if you fail quickly. My current favorite speedrun game is Factorio. It is pure skill, memory, pre-planning and practice, practice, practice. Both mental and physical. Zero glitches. All the runs exploit no bugs (well, becasue Factorio is bug-free ;D almost). 2h of non stop doing things without a pause, in extremely complex build. No loading screens, no waiting for cutscenes.
@@BrightPage174 this ESPECIALLY goes for the Majora’s Mask speedrun, which is LARGELY skipped. You don’t even have to do the full first cycle, just manipulate physics to jump onto the clock tower platform, then literally rewrite the code from within the game to just skip to the ending, or just skip to the final boss if you want to show off the power of a STICK.

The way she does it is actually insulting Chell. The way Wheatley does it is just calling her fat and adopted, while GLaDOS doesn’t just directly say “Fatty fatty no parents” and combines it with rips on her being bad at the tests.
even though portal 2 has been my all time favorite game since release, ive never seen any speedruns of it. this was really fucking impressive, and i didnt even know some of this stuff was even possible. definitely subbing :)
i was watching the run and i noticed you started talking about HL: Alyx I looked at the date of this video and I started smiling. It's great to see that such an amazing game still has records being broken, chambers being made, people making friends on Co-Op, and just generally people playing the game

Tyvan Hansen Nah, he:s running the actual game here. What he’s doing is explained in his Chapter 8 speed run tutorial that he made last year: by pressing against the door before the panel comes up, the panel doesn’t block him away from it
He also skips, like, ALL of the betrayal by just standing on top of the elevator and then falling down the shaft before he even turns GLaDOS into a potato
I've looked at the entities via ent_fire suggestions, and apparently PotatOS actually follows a path I believe it's either of 2 things: - You move around the world but don't see that, which is less likely since the tube ride does show position changes - The world moves around you, which doesn't make much sense I haven't figured out how to free myself yet

Even as different as it was (bc speedrun, obviously) I got emotional seeing the end of Portal 2 again. I miss the days when games were engaging, well-made, and interesting due to the developer's effort put into making the game unique, not the same as whatever shit was popular at the moment. I have sat for hours doing nothing more than listening to GLaDOS' voice and staring at the incredible environments in the game. Both Portal games made me look at three-dimensional environments entirely differently than I could ever have without them. Not to mention the hundreds of hours that I listened to the music from the game and watched fan-made videos. I hope Battle Royales are erased from history just enough so that no one ever tries them again, but plenty such that their horrid nature is properly sealed from human minds.
i don't think battle royales should be eliminated or anything, they're easy to make and fun to play, but it's still incomparable to a game like portal. There are still engaging games, they're just not as mainstream as battle royales. Just different genres for different people, you know?

You can't peekaportal on a flat wall normally. The only way to do something like this would be to have eye offset which would mean you'd need to go through an angled panel. You might be able to do this with the floor portal but that would require going through the wall portal for just a bit then peeking your face back through to hit the shot real quick. Pretty hard for minimal timesave.

Bilguun I think if you enter the elevator earlier the dialogue still plays fully while you’re riding, so he’s not wasting any time
Yeah, the loading screens don’t trigger until the dialogue has finished anyway, so it he’s just killing time.

copypasta: In most cases, the game won't load the next map until GLaDOS or whoever is done talking. The way the game checks to see if this is the case by having several points along the elevator shaft where the game will check if the dialogue has finished, and if it has, load the next map. Waiting in front of the elevator and entering at a specific time ensures that the dialogue will finish just before the elevator hits one of those points, so there is the least amount of time possible between the dialogue ending and the game loading the next map.
