We are up with the next video of our experiment series where we decoded popular experiment videos, correct them if there is a wrong explanation and make interesting JEE-level questions from it.
In this video, we have picked a very popular video whose explanation is completely opposite to the law of Physics yet it gained 44 Million views and over 3 Million likes.
In the video a bottle filled with water was taken and two holes were created in it. When the man was holding the bottle, water was coming out of the holes.
The man drops the bottle and the water stops coming out of the holes.
He says that according to Einstein, this is because the bottle is not experiencing gravity during wall.
This explanation is completely wrong and in this video, NMS sir has explained it very fundamentally instead of taking complex examples and problem forming.

The correct statement is "A freely falling body doesn't feel gravity." The guy didn't do the experiment on his own. This exact experiment was done by the popular American physicist Brian Greene in an interview and he was the one who quoted Einstien here but used "feel". The exact statements and the exact experiment is copied from Dr Brian Greene but he couldn't copy the exact words. Right..Exactly what i also commented..according to Einstein general theory of relativity gravity is not a force but the geometry of space time.. The free falling object simply follow the curved space time path created by earth due to its mass..
"A freely falling body doesn't feel gravity." Sorry... But this is not a correct statement. From the viewpoint of Newtonian Physics, this problem is already present in Class 11 physics in the LIFT-Human Problem. This incident can be explained easily using that concept. However, without gravity, free fall never happens as per Newtonian Physics. The same can be explained by space-time curvature, but then you have to know non-Euclidean geometry which is not everyone's cup of tea..

the actual reason of water coming out of the bottle is the pressure difference between the inside and outpoint of the hole and when it was released then the pressure differnce becomes zero so wATER DOES not comes out during fall .. sir if i am wrong please correct me
A free falling object doesnt feel gravity in his reference frame. Because in its reference frame everything is traveling at same speed in same direction. Therefore it seem like gravity isnt acting on anything.

Consider a water bottle with holes in it, in deep intersteller space far from any heavy body, water will not come out from holes because there is no "gravity". So, a free falling bottle with holes, not letting water go out from holes, what does this signifies?
How does the observer sitting on water bottle in both situations distinguish between one another?

Good video but a small correction: Einstein was given a Nobel prize for his contributions in the understanding of photoelectric effect NOT because nobody could understand the general theory of relativity that he is more known for. Firstly, the general theory of relativity was quite well understood in the science community during his time. Secondly, although Einstein was the person who could assimilate all the knowledge available at that time and compactify everything into a single package called general theory of relativity, he owes almost everything to Minkowski and other mathematicians of the time for the original idea of the general theory of relativity. In fact in terms of originality I would say that the special theory of relativity was a much better candidate where for the first time he emphasized on treating time as a coordinate equivalent to space. Thirdly, the Nobel prize committee also lay a lot of emphasis on the impact of the research on society. Therefore it is only considered a valid theory when it is experimentally verified. Back in that time there was no experimental validation of the general theory of relativity, which in my opinion played an important role in eliminating it for his prize. The experimental validation happened only recently, and in fact, few years ago, the Nobel prize in physics was awarded for detection of gravitational waves by the LIGO project.

The kid who asked you this wasn't wrong. It is indeed the fact that a person falling freely doesn't feel gravity. In the theory of general relativity, the equivalence principle is the equivalence of gravitational and inertial mass, and Albert Einstein’s observation is that the gravitational “force” is experienced locally while standing on a massive body (such as the Earth) is the same as the pseudo-force experienced by an observer in a non-inertial (accelerated) frame of reference. So the person falling freely is equivalent to the person sitting on an accelerated frame of reference like for example the International Space Station, there are tons of videos from inside ISS and all can see that the gravity is missing.

It's not about proving right, it's about guiding students about what's right.
the experiment demonstrating the origin of gravity due to the curvature of fabric.. but due the curvature the gravity is pulling the object towards the lowest point (energy minima) ... but in actual simplest way general relativity says that curvature of spacetime is defined by mass and we follow the spacetime, as we drive on road if the road is curved we curve, exactly like that when the spacetime is curved due to mass the light following the spacetime bends
and the experiment in the video is actually performed by the physicist Brian greene on the show "late show with stephen colbert" and there he didn't say any shit like "no gravity"
The problem here is two different context of gravity. Newtonian physics considers gravity as a force and a freely falling object as non inertial frame of reference but Einstein theory says that gravity is not a force..so a freely falling object doesn't feel any force but follows the geodesic and hence is a inertial frame of reference.

And any body which is under freefall with respect to a body which is also under freefall would look like it experiences no gravity, because of how they experience the same acceleration.

Sir the idea you mentioned at the later part of the video is awesome! The scientific IQ development is something that is much needed not just in school kids but in the entire Indian populace. I recently gave the NEET exam and I can confirm that in my coaching institute, even the toppers (as you may say) who were in the ranker's batch with me lacked scientific temperament. Just learning the formulas and mugging up what's in the book is not the correct way to study science but sadly that's what most of the bright students of our country do. Add to that a whole lot of pseudoscience, misinformation and superstitions that these so called science students believe in and never even question any of it.

That's kinda true. That thing is taken from a vdo of professor Brian Greene at world science festival. Though that was colloquial language. Also, students there, don't go into these things now. First study your course, otherwise you will neither understand your syllabus nor Einstein and will surly develop all sorts of wrong concepts.

When people are working with the relativity they must mention the frame of refrence.
Sir, not everything has to be for 6th, 7th and 10th students. That boy did experiment properly his words must not be exact.
For person standing on earth watching bottle fall will give the explaination given by you. But person who is in frame of falling water will not experience gravity hence water is not falling out of bottle. Same obervation will be done but the cause is different. This is equivalence principle.
There is a reason why einstien is given nobel for PE effect but not for Relativity... The Moto of Nobel commitee is the reason. Read guidlines of the nobel for giving nobel... More than 10 nobel is now given to different people on relativity till now..

Actually acceleration causes warping of spacetime. This is all about the principle of equivalence which says that in any arbitraty gravitational field we can select a locally inertial coordinate system such that the laws of physics would be the same as in coordinate systems without the influence of any gravitational field.
Which means the observer won't be able to distinguish whether he is in a gravitational field or in a spacetime without gravity. All calculations would yield the same result.
A freely falling person doesn't feel his own weight.
This could be explained by the good old elevator thought experiment.
Suppose we are inside an elevator(inertial coordinate system) and the elevator is falling freely under gravity then we would feel as if we are in space because everything else is falling including the floor. There is no upward force exerted by the ground so as to feel the weight. So if we are uninformed whether we are in a gravitational field or not, we won't be able to tell them apart.

As per Sir Dr Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity gravity is NOT a force but a curvature of spacetime caused by massive objects. Imagine spacetime as a stretched ruber sheet. A heavy ball placed on it would create a dent. Objects rolling on this sheet would follow the curve towards the ball.This is analogous to how objects are attracted towards a massive body like Earth.
