      @Mike Kavanagh Eating meat is not a dietary mistake. Our bodies are designed to live off of meat alone. People quit eating meat as part of fad diets born of old correlation studies that assumed that meat was bad for the arteries. Today we know healthy meat is not bad for you at all, and sugar is the real killer followed by vegetable oils. There are people who lived past 100 who still eat bacon everyday. Meat is good food. Processed foods are almost poison.

    • @obijuan3004
      @obijuan3004 4 года назад +45

      @Mike Kavanagh You are misinformed by nonsense put out by organizations like PETA. Meat quickly digests in the stomach, 4 to 5 hours, where meat quickly dissolves in the hydrochloric acid and pepsin in our stomach, long before it reaches the intestines. Then in the intestines, Bile emulsifies fats and helps neutralize stomach acid; lipase breaks down fats; trypsin and chymotrypsin break down proteins. We are designed to eat meat. Biologists say eating meat is what gave humans the nutrients and calories for a larger brain. What we don't have is multiple stomachs like cows, nor the massively large colon of a gorilla to digest plant material. We digest vegetables in part by cooking them. We also need B-12 which is found almost exclusively in human diets through meat, or eggs.

    • @obijuan3004
      @obijuan3004 4 года назад +20

      @Mike Kavanagh Please, you post a link to a crazy man, John Rose? That guy is a backwoods moron who is selling superstition not fact. Your intestines regenerate and remove the old cell lining every 5 to 7 days, nothing sits in your colon and hardens like the crazy man says. What do you find in your feces, meat or corn? Its the vegetables that have a hard time digesting not meat. You know fiber in your diet... Hello?
      That video is full of false information.

      They have a sweet taste when added to Chili. Some sort of flavinol interplay there or something. I like pasta, but the stuff digests too quickly and jacks up your insulin tolerance. It also makes you eat more and probably messes with dopamine. Better to go with whole grains. Like, REAL whole grains, not "whole grain bread".

      B.S. I do low carb and oil satiates extremely well, so your overall caloric intake drops. Monounsaturated (EVOO, nuts, etc.) don't "clog your arteries". It's implicated in doing the exact opposite, actually. If it's liquid at room temp, it's probably fine.
      You're the first person I ever heard that thought EVOO was bad for you. It's been used for millennia as a health item.

I have lost 118 pounds to date, and have about 60 to go. My husband lost 25 pounds, he was not the one struggling with his weight. But still he improved his blood pressure and looks and feels years younger. b n I wish I could do this for my husband who is obese, but I’m on a special diet because of digestive issues and I have to eat a high fat diet and my vegan dietician even told me that I have to increase my red meat intake or I become underweight. (My blood fat and sodium % is also way lower than normal even though I eat lots of fats and more salt than I would like... my body just doesn’t absorb it well and if I get too much fibre from veggies, I absorb even less fats)
      I buy veggies and prepare them for my husband, but I can’t eat it with him, so he ends up eating my food. So I stay a healthy weight and he balloons. I don’t know what to do because he is pre-diabetic and has a heart condition but he doesn’t want to change his eating habits and I can’t force him.

    I never heard of you two until this video popped up on my RUclips list. I thought the title was interesting and I'm so glad I watched!First: CONGRATULATIONS! I know how much is involved in changing the way you eat! I did it about 3 1/2 years ago and lost about 100 pounds. I also started exercising for the first time in my adult life which helped enormously and I still continue with my eating changes and exercise. So I'm definitely gonna subscribe and I just want to say keep up the good work! I hope lots of people who think they can't do something like this watch and are encouraged to give it a try. My own idiosyncratic theory is that food is essentially an addiction more or less and if you have the wherewithal to discipline yourself to change the things you eat and understand it is for good: not temporary; after a couple of weeks it's a habit and you realize that you really like healthy food! The open secret is that anyone can do it and it does nothing but help you lose weight, feel better all the time, and make you feel good about yourself. And on that score you two should really feel great about your accomplishment! I also noticed you're from St. Louis and I'm in the Trader Joe's frequently! I'll keep an eye out for ya! Congratulations again and keep it up! You're going to inspire people who have felt like their own situation could never change.

    I dont know why but this vid just popped upon YT and I decided to watch. I am just a few months ahead of you two. I changed my life in april 2018. From a standart diet I went whole food vegan (SOS) cold turkey. My first couple of weeks were just as hard as I hear you 2 talk about. On one hand I felt like I was giving up so much, did not feel at home in my own kitchen, shopping took for ever. I was terrible. Not to mention the sugar hangover, my skin tripping out (a bit later on hair falling out) not knowing how much to eat and so on.
    It's been 2 years now and now I look back on the best dicision I ever made.
    I lost about 50 pounds or so, I quit my painmeds, my boodwork has never been better.
    I now love my new lifestyle, but yeah....those forst couple of weeks were hell....
    Proud of the both of you!

    I know these guys are really down to earth people, but I wonder if Jessica is so emotional because, and please don't get triggered by this, she literally got her beauty back. I don't mean to insult her at her higher weight or anyone carrying excess fat in their face, I certainly do, and as I am starting to diet and exercise, the change in my face is the most motivating thing. She looks younger, prettier, her features have definition, and everything is in proportion to those absolutely stunning eyes. She's achieved so much, and deserves to feel great about herself. I know some people really hate vanity and hate to see it in themselves, but it's better to live with it and allow yourself to be proud of your own face and body.

      Sad place we are in as a nation where one must apologize for remarking on the increased attractiveness of a less fatty body and face. Travel ANYWHERE on this globe outside the U.S. and you will not find a populace anywhere near as overweight as Americans. Visit the coldest countries in the world, all with starchy, fatty diets, and yet you'll find in every instance a populace that is thin. Snacking, snacking, snacking is the problem in the U.S., along with our extremely sedentary lifestyle.

    I couldn't agree more. Having lost 100 pounds myself I'm convinced that 90% of it is a mental issue. I remember getting emotional too although I lost my weight by eating less and making healthier choices. But I do remember the mental blockage the most, no matter what you choose to do in order to lose the weight the mental aspect is the biggest part
