    I struggled with this for more than half my life. I never told anyone except a priest in confession and early this year I just got tired of being a slave to it. I decided to pray the Rosary more often and that "more often" soon turned into everyday. It's been almost a year since caving to this sin and I have no desire or intentions to ever cave to it again. The Rosary is the key!

      The rosary is a very powerful weapon against lust, and I’m glad you managed to break that vice! The rosary has definitely helped me in my fight against lust by helping break my own sinful habits. We must prayer the rosary for others and our culture in general that we may discover the true meaning of the gift of sexuality, and love as Christ loves

    Very well said! Every bit of purity I fought for prior to my marriage was more than worth it when I married my wife. Over 12 years of marriage later and I still benefit daily from my heart being more fully hers due to less detachment from my sinful past. Temptation is still a real thing (that isn't gone until we are dead) but choosing purity gets easier as you keep choosing it. Married love is absolutely terrific!

      It's a dumb way of defining "addiction". By that definition, eating, drinking, sleeping, etc. are "addictions".

    This does not happen to me, but I have read many comments like this. People are so into masturbation. I read masturbation is healthy, but if you get totally uncomfortable, try to change a hobby. Maybe if you are laying down, come to the floor and start getting distracted with some exercises like sit ups or push ups. Do some jumping jacks. Try to get away but forgetting what is going on with you. One of the special things we have is prayer. Pray a holy rosary by saying a decade of the rosary. Trust me. You can do it.

    Not trying to lead anyone “astray” or to particular conclusions, just posting a concern…
    It feels like these explanations are always working backwards from a very outdated teaching. Nobody would naturally come up with these arguments and conclusions, we use them to justify beliefs that are just not true at all to our life experience. Masturbation feels like a perfectly healthy outlet for our desires… emotionally, physically and even spiritually, it is neutral at worst. There is virtually no harm whatsoever, especially if you avoid pornography (which at least comes from a harmful industry).
    I’m just not sure I buy that there’s anything edifying about refraining from these natural urges, and I simply cannot understand how acting on these urges is actively immoral.

    • @michaelbedsole970
      @michaelbedsole970 Год назад

      It's not immoral. The problem is many religions program people to HATE human sexuality and the body. THAT is what causes people to have guilt/shame over their body/sexuality. It leads to all sorts of neurotic thinking and unnatural/unhealthy attitudes towards the body and sexuality. And religions aren't above propagating outright lies if they think it will curb sexuality.

    This is the same argument the Catholic Church has made regarding masturbation however they've backed it up by using draconian language when assigning moral responsibility concerning this very normal human activity. See the Catechism of the Catholic Church wherein it is spelled out even to the extent of claiming even one incident of masturbation can relegate the soul of the person to hell for all eternity. However they go to great lengths in spelling out those things that may influence the practitioner to lessen the moral responsibility to the point that it may even disappear all together. Is every incident of masturbation accompanied as always by fantasy somewhat sinful? Probably but only mildly so. What good does it do to load Catholics with guilt about a practice that is virtually never all that sinful?

      The problem here is that you're not taking into account what the natural law tells us. Masturbation leads to other things. Why do You think the fathers of the sexual revolution became so fixated on it?

    • @arkansas99
      @arkansas99 2 года назад +2

      You're basing your opinion on your own feelings, even though I agree that shame or mere fear is not a solution. Lusting is a form of adultery. Thankfully we can be forgiven, but let's not say that it's not sinful or mild. In extreme situations it will ruin an individual and their ability to form healthy relations with the opposite sex. And even in mild forms it distorts our view of sex, consent and marriage.
      But, it should be exercised though conviction and a desire to turn away from sin. That's what happened to me, and I thank God for unexpectedly freeing me from a 10 year long addiction.
      “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

    It's unfortunate that anyone (yourself included) believes this stuff. Very sad. Masturbation isn't the problem. Masturbation is a normal part of life. Masturbation doesn't ruin relationships. Focus upon the real issues that people face rather than to tell them that normal, natural things are bad or a sign of some inner failing. It's simply not accurate. Not only is this stuff untrue, semen retention is dysfunctional and causes health issues. Stop guilting people because you're unhappy. Treat everyone with kindness and stop telling them what you think that they should do. I hope that you, one day, realize just how many dysfunctional and nonsense issues you're creating for other people.
