Why do you product reviewers always say Apple should switch to USB-C? The Lightning connector is proprietary. Apple would lose out if they switch to USB-C.
Hi I just bought this device a couple of days ago as my iPad Air 2 battery I’ve completely gone and it was going to cost me more to get that fixed and also if I fancied the idea I’m getting a new iPad. I find that my new iPad 8 screen slightly bigger and the sound slightly better then my iPad Air 2. I’ve been watching a lot of RUclips videos about my new iPad 8 just to get clarification that I’ve bought the right iPad for myself. I cannot afford to buy these expensive iPads and all I need is my iPad for is watching a RUclips videos TV programmes and doing a few emails etc. As I have and laptop to do the rest.I like the fact that the iPad 8 has the front button finger identification just like iPad Air 2 has as I do not like the latest models that appear to have them on the side and I also don’t like the Apple phones that don’t have that button. Thanks for making me feel better that I’ve done the right thing. Keep up the good work.
There is one complaint I have. The keyboard integration is poorly documented and not fully implemented. For most people this won't be an issue. It is also a bit more forgivable since this is mainly a touch device. While I do like things like the shortcut menu that pops up when you hit the control, there were a few things that I had to search for. Forward delete is control+d. Escape is command+period/full stop. to close an app to reduce the amount of alt tabbing is hitting Q while alt tabbing. If you want to close the current active app you have to alt tab through all the apps to get back to the open one to hit q to close it. It was confusing that if you enter the settings that you can sometime move the selection up and down but you could not advance to the right pain. if you hit tab you get the setting search box where you hope you already learned the escape key combo. The ability to navigate settings is only fully implemented if you enable it in the keyboard section of the accessibility section. If you do need accessibility options because of mobility limitation, on the home screen you can only move to the next page of apps if you go to the dots right over the dock that you can only get to if you move down on the forth column of icons. you can not hit right or left on the edge rows to get to the next page. The 2 border columns cannot move move downwards to the dock. you can go directly to the dock on columns 2, 3 and 5. If you are navigating the icons with the keyboard the only indication to the app you are on is a faint outline that is on the edge of the icon itself. For an icon like the HP Smart app for the printer the outline looks like it is part of the icon and the outline is actually more of an inline. if the end of the apps is a row lower then the icon right next to it you can hit right to be bumped up row. it stays on the last icon. if that occurred on column 3 you have to move up and then right to go down to the dots over the dock to advance to the next page. Since that is all talking about the limits on accessibility, Imagine trying to help some one navigate it over the phone. From my assessment, if all you need to do it simple things like right an email it is robust and all the staple shortcuts are there like cut copy and paste. I also love the shortcut pop-up menu. If you want to be a keyboard power user, the ability is there but it is poorly documented and some extra surfing will be needed. If you have to use accessibility then while it works, if you need help over the phone then it might not be the best option and if you have a hard time seeing you will loose track of the selected icon. Apple using the spacebar instead of return to open an app is smart because it is a larger target. The only thing broken is keyboard navigation of the setting screen without accessibility. I found the experience a bit disjointed in places. it really felt more like an after thought added on top. Kind of like the windows 10 control panel or dark theme. Apple has room to improve here.
Being a college student, and now realizing most classes have articles to read online I like to mark up and make notes on them. Would this iPad be good at that? Not looking for the fanciest iPad, but I just wanna know if it’ll be good enough for that?

I also got the pebble mouse because you said and it is excellent especially to cart around but I like mice and a nice one at my desk so may look at the better Logitech that you recommend yes it all costs money but computing gets to be a bigger part of life now and it’s definetly worth having a nice desk setup if you work at your desk a bit like me and a portable setup if your away a lot like me as well and I certainly can’t see a better product than this iPad eight that lets me have money left over for the accessories

i bought my ipad 8th gen after watching a couple of your hype review videos. it's great! like you said, i only use it for streaming and browsing so i got the 32gb because i just wanted a larger screen for when i watch something before sleeping without the bulkiness of my laptop. i was initially planning to get the ipad air 4 but im glad i didn't, i can do so much more with the money i saved lol.
hey, do you use a screen protector on your iPad?
I totally agree with your case, especially about building my specs and not pay for something I won’t use. Great review!
Why do you product reviewers always say Apple should switch to USB-C? The Lightning connector is proprietary. Apple would lose out if they switch to USB-C.
How much storage do you need to watch youtube and Netflix ?
Thanks for your video!!!
I booked 8th gen 128gb
Wow your channel has really grown! Hard work and good content pays off 👍
Is it possible to get additional storage? Or is it hardware? I am adding just a sd card adapter.
@TheEverydayDad wat do you use to edit videos and does it cost money?
How much does the battery last huh?
Should I take it to read pdf books.?
Watching this on the iPad 8!
Thanks for your video!! I was hesitating about buying the air or pro but this was very helpful to go for this version.
Always enjoy your long term thoughts.
Keep up the good work.
maybe i will get one next month! but is the 32gb one good for online class and games? (storage)
Looking to buy an iPad, what’s people’s thoughts on this one
Probably Apple pencil will kill you financially. Also, you can always go old school with pen&paper and maybe ask with someone who already owns and uses remarkable e-Ink tablet. (note: don't buy into later without checking personally)
Can the iPad Pro 2017 be a daily driver?
What about audio? Over earphones? I have the old iPad 3 but it's stottering a lot and has become slow. The sound however is really nice over earphones. Anyway it's time to get another iPad but what about the sound, not the speaker sound so much... But over earphones and connecting it to my stereo? Does it have a 3.5mm plug?
Many thanks in advance for any reply... Devarsi
I still use the iPad Air 2, it’s about 6 years old and works great 👍🏾
Me too, it’s a lot used, we have it from 2015, i play daily PUBG mobile, sometimes the iPad has a hard time with PUBG😂😂😂😂
A perfect video again! You’re amazing mate😎
Is iPad 8 good enough for LumaFusion?
Love hearing these updates
Just bought this piece of heaven 🥰
Nice! Hope it works well for you!
I just got this one it’s perfectly fine for every day use.
I intend to buy a new tablet, but I am confused as to whether I want to buy an ipad or another android tablet. I am not in the Apple Ecosystem. My smartphone is android, my laptop is Asus. So, is it worth it if I buy an ipad to use as my tablet? Will it bother me to transfer any documents and videos to my laptop and smartphone later?
What app that you’re using for edit video in your Ipad?
thank you SO MUCH! I wanted a newer ipad for so long and today i am finally going to get it from the store!! 😊😊
@Big Smoke bro is 32 gb storage enough?
@Big Smoke a few games and few apps enough?
I have a 2018 base iPad that I got as a gift. Should I upgrade or wait a year or two to save up for an air or pro ?
I wouldn’t buy anything until you absolutely need it.
@@TheEverydayDad ok thanks I will wait till the iPad Air 5 is released and buy that . Also I've starting a tech channel because of you so any tips are appreciated. Thanks.
Very cool and informative video and justifies where this ipad sits in the current line up. Hey, Gary, can you maybe make a video about the relevance of ipad mini 5 at this current day, like maybe you can add in a work setup revolving around it showcasing its capabilities and how it compares to the current ipad offerings that apple just came up with this year?
I purchased the IPad 8 128gb with wifi and 4g as it something I have noticed after 25 years of computers you never have enough storage on hand .I have ordered a lightening hub with USB slots for thumb drives but that will stay at my desk a portable seperate Bluetooth keyboard wish I had maybe looked at the Logitech one with trackpad? I also got the pebble mouse because you said and it is excellent especially to cart around but I like mice and a nice one at my desk so may look at the better Logitech that you recommend yes it all costs money but computing gets to be a bigger part of life now and it’s definetly worth having a nice desk setup if you work at your desk a bit like me and a portable setup if your away a lot like me as well and I certainly can’t see a better product than this iPad eight that lets me have money left over for the accessories
Would you recommend this for using googledrive and word? Does the ipad8th gen have split screen?
Yes it have
some apps dont have split screen tho
Awesome review.
This has helped me to ease my selection from the range of ipads available!
Thanks a lot buddy!
It is a stopgap iPad to next iPad Pro for me. Will pick up all SE line watch and iPhone too.
I’m still on the first gen iPad Air still going strong😂
Bruh same
For 100$, we get a 2TB hard disk or 512gb memory card, i still don't know the logic how 32gb and 128gb model vary by 100$.
It’s ssd not hdd
@@AlanSantosX a 256gb ssd comes for much less than that...
@@AlanSantosX 1TB ssds can be had for less than $100.
But at what speed?
@@AlanSantosX 560 mb/s easy. What is your point? We know what the storage upgrades cost a quarter of what apple charges for them, exactly what argument are you trying to make?
how about the ipad mini 5th gen? would you call it ipad xr?
Dude I bought the iPad 8 because of you... and I’m so glad 🙂
I wanna buy 32 gig ipad for gaming , taking notes , watching Netflix and reading do you think its enough for me, i alredy have a galaxy phone with 128 gig
Please answer
Love you I'm from iraq 🇮🇶🇮🇶
i highly suggest that you should buy the 128gb. Apple devices are really space consuming (around 11gb for the system and others only) so it’s better be safe than sorry..
the chipset is the same with ipad mini 5 and ipad air 3. what's the different ?
well what if i got the 32gb and bought extra gb from an icloud storage
32 gb or 128gb for procreate and watching series, RUclips etc?
128 gb if u wanna use it for long time say 3-4 years
@@shubhamchanchal9859 I don't know but 2years sure
@@nyreiz1002 with every update u need more space... But if u wanna use it as a secondary device n u have another laptop then i think 32 gb is cool
@@nyreiz1002i was confused too but m looking for next 3-4 years so i guess 128 is perfect for me.....
@@shubhamchanchal9859 I don't have another laptop so u think 128gb is good for me but the price grow up (sorry for my bad English I'm French)
Yes!, I have the 2017 version of this iPad and use it to edit family videos en holidays, I left my laptop in home and use the iPad like my computer, edit video, retouch photographs I take with my iphone, I bring some movies in it to kids to watch in the road. I have a bluetooth keyboard and a mice and obviously the version I have is the 128GB.
I’m using a iPad Pro 10.5 from 2017 I love this iPad I’m using a lot it replaces my laptop and I do school on this
Hi sir can you tell me what are the various ports available and how to connect a external harddisk
I’ve got the 128gb ipad 8 and it’s awesome. Completely stopped using my main PC.
Is it good to write college essay tho and should i buy macbook air or ipad 8?
How does it do with photoshop? I'll be using it mostly for photo editing and drawing
will 32gb fit for just goodnote or notability? no picture and other stuff!!!
Yes yes I have it all
How many years can we use this ipad 8 ? İt has a12 and it makes me think
Dude I have the iPad mini 4 for 5 years. I bought it when it came out in 2015. The space on that was only 16gb only. So 32gb is gonna be a huge jump. It also had the bionic chip A8 lol
I have an iPad 7th generation and I am actually very happy about it, first I was so upset because iPad 8 gen came out one week later I bought my iPad. But now I know that they don’t have so many differences makes me happy about it :) ok now I am upset again
