Its only use is web browsing, email, OneNote, RUclips, Netflix, Kindle, and RUclips TV. I never anticipate doing photo/video storage or editing, podcasts, or downloading music. I think I’ll be fine for at least a couple years.

@@MoNeYMlKE420 It's still doing great, and I'm still using less than half the 32 GB of storage. Its main uses for me are as a laptop replacement for travel, and as a second monitor using Sidecar.
I use it with the Logitech Combo Touch keyboard/trackpad case, which works well and provides good protection, although at the cost of significantly added weight and bulk. The nice part is that it connects to the iPad's Smart Connector, so doesn't need its own battery. However, it's pricey at $150, although it goes on sale often and I've seen it as low as $117 on Amazon. Even then, there are much cheaper keyboard options.

I did own the 9,7“ iPad and Switches now to the base 8th gen. Ok I got the cellular version.
It’s my workhorse: notes, mail, conf calls. And in the evening I consume a bit content and answer comments on my channel or work a big in Skripts l. I use currently 15GB. I don’t edit on it, do sometimes thumbnails, that’s it.
And for work in the company I just don’t like being the air 4 or pro, that 8. Gen one just does the job.
got also the regular Smart Keyboard and am happy with it.
Oh, I got the iPad and keyboard with 15% so a pretty good deal. Plus i could get it now, the Air 4 is still not available in Germany.
Thanks for the update, stay safe and keep up the good work

I'm going to use it for taking notes, watching videos and reading books, maybe video editing or music production in the future. Also I'm getting a 64 gb lightning/usb stick for storing all my files outside the ipad.

Honestly, I think the iPad 8 works well with many people. It has the same resolution as the new iPad Air 4, but it’s missing True Tone and p3 wide color. I know that sounds awful on paper, but even comparing it to the iPad Air 3, I could barely tell the difference. The A12 chip is much more than enough for normal tasks, and it can game very well. I compared the pencil to that of my brother’s iPad Pro 2020, and at least for me, I could barely tell the difference between the latency. Even when doing that thing where you move the pencil really fast, it doesn’t feel as different as you may think

My current iPad is the 8 and I really love it! I use a third party stylus that I don't really know the name of, because Apple Pencil's too expensive for me, and I have a Smart Keyboard as well, it lacks the trackpad and I don't have a mouse but my finger's fine. It's free, 0 bucks for a finger! Si really agree with your opinion, 32GB is not much, well it's not close to much, but buying something third-party/cheaper accessories would still be fine! Logitech products are really cool, and I rate this iPad 9/10. The 1 was the 32gb storage. Although because of its storage maybe lower the price a little bit, and the iPad 9 is probably better value, but still very good iPad.

There is one complaint I have. The keyboard integration is poorly documented and not fully implemented. For most people this won't be an issue. It is also a bit more forgivable since this is mainly a touch device.
While I do like things like the shortcut menu that pops up when you hit the control, there were a few things that I had to search for. Forward delete is control+d. Escape is command+period/full stop. to close an app to reduce the amount of alt tabbing is hitting Q while alt tabbing. If you want to close the current active app you have to alt tab through all the apps to get back to the open one to hit q to close it.
It was confusing that if you enter the settings that you can sometime move the selection up and down but you could not advance to the right pain. if you hit tab you get the setting search box where you hope you already learned the escape key combo. The ability to navigate settings is only fully implemented if you enable it in the keyboard section of the accessibility section.
If you do need accessibility options because of mobility limitation, on the home screen you can only move to the next page of apps if you go to the dots right over the dock that you can only get to if you move down on the forth column of icons. you can not hit right or left on the edge rows to get to the next page. The 2 border columns cannot move move downwards to the dock. you can go directly to the dock on columns 2, 3 and 5. If you are navigating the icons with the keyboard the only indication to the app you are on is a faint outline that is on the edge of the icon itself. For an icon like the HP Smart app for the printer the outline looks like it is part of the icon and the outline is actually more of an inline. if the end of the apps is a row lower then the icon right next to it you can hit right to be bumped up row. it stays on the last icon. if that occurred on column 3 you have to move up and then right to go down to the dots over the dock to advance to the next page.
Since that is all talking about the limits on accessibility, Imagine trying to help some one navigate it over the phone.
From my assessment, if all you need to do it simple things like right an email it is robust and all the staple shortcuts are there like cut copy and paste. I also love the shortcut pop-up menu. If you want to be a keyboard power user, the ability is there but it is poorly documented and some extra surfing will be needed. If you have to use accessibility then while it works, if you need help over the phone then it might not be the best option and if you have a hard time seeing you will loose track of the selected icon. Apple using the spacebar instead of return to open an app is smart because it is a larger target. The only thing broken is keyboard navigation of the setting screen without accessibility.
I found the experience a bit disjointed in places. it really felt more like an after thought added on top. Kind of like the windows 10 control panel or dark theme. Apple has room to improve here.

im still debating if i will get the ipad 8 128gb with the pencil or ipad air 4 64gb wihout the pen, coz my budget is just right for the ipad air4 alone...... im just gonna use it for streaming, socmed, some education and a little picture taking and drawings. good thing is that im not that into games so it will make less storage usage.. so what do u think i should get?

Hi I just bought this device a couple of days ago as my iPad Air 2 battery I’ve completely gone and it was going to cost me more to get that fixed and also if I fancied the idea I’m getting a new iPad. I find that my new iPad 8 screen slightly bigger and the sound slightly better then my iPad Air 2. I’ve been watching a lot of RUclips videos about my new iPad 8 just to get clarification that I’ve bought the right iPad for myself. I cannot afford to buy these expensive iPads and all I need is my iPad for is watching a RUclips videos TV programmes and doing a few emails etc. As I have and laptop to do the rest.I like the fact that the iPad 8 has the front button finger identification just like iPad Air 2 has as I do not like the latest models that appear to have them on the side and I also don’t like the Apple phones that don’t have that button. Thanks for making me feel better that I’ve done the right thing. Keep up the good work.

I purchased the IPad 8 128gb with wifi and 4g as it something I have noticed after 25 years of computers you never have enough storage on hand .I have ordered a lightening hub with USB slots for thumb drives but that will stay at my desk a portable seperate Bluetooth keyboard wish I had maybe looked at the Logitech one with trackpad? I also got the pebble mouse because you said and it is excellent especially to cart around but I like mice and a nice one at my desk so may look at the better Logitech that you recommend yes it all costs money but computing gets to be a bigger part of life now and it’s definetly worth having a nice desk setup if you work at your desk a bit like me and a portable setup if your away a lot like me as well and I certainly can’t see a better product than this iPad eight that lets me have money left over for the accessories

First it’s ssd and second, it’s Apple! They do it so that you chose upper version over base one, Air instead of upper version , Pro instead of that upgraded Air version and doing so, they stretch your wallet maximum!! An Apple strategy!! But TOTALLY agree with 128 gb instead of 32gb even though I use OneDrive, Google disk, Apple iCloud online storages!!

For me the 32gb model is enough. I only use 21gb of them and have enough space. And there’s enough space to put videos on it, cut them and do them back to my hard drive. I have 5 games on it and many other apps like procreate or Photoshop. So for me 32gb is enough. But if you don’t want to use it on limit with space then go with the 128gb model.

My wife took my 12.9 with magic keyboard, it is kind of waste money to buy another iPad Pro 11 with keyboard for me, then, finally Apple release this A12 cheap ipad. I like it a lot, with the logitech comb keyboard , it gives me a close experience with my iPad Pro 12.9, and easier to do the tablet staff.

This is my 3rd iPad, I’ve had a 2 and a 4 and now the 8. I really love that it can use an Apple Pencil. It is fast and I purchased a keyboard case with a trackpad and that is cool. But have had to spend some time with Apple Tech Support for some problems which did get fixed, the spacebar on my external keyboards was shutting down Pages and Numbers but Apple helps people me to fix that. Then as I have tinnitus, when it bugs me, I have used text to speech to help read the text to me to overcome the screaming in my head. Could not get it to work But Apple was unsure how to get it to work it seemed and asked me to turn on VoiceOver which is a terrible experience. I have the iPad in a keyboard case and if you don’t get it into portrait, and you get away from the page you are on in Settings like I did, I sneezed and touched the screen and could not get back into Settings because I got nervous. They told me to restart and coming back in because VoiceOver was still on, all the numbers to put in my 6-digit code could not be touched.
I did eventually get it iPad back open but what was weird is in both cases where Apple was having me make changes to Settings, the changes did not take effect until the iPad was shut down and restarted.
I did get the Apple Pencil and there is a widget for the Home Screen which shows the charge in the pen which is cool.
Except for the few glitches which Apple was most kind in trying to help me, this is the first time I’ve experienced having to contact Apple at all for help with an Apple product. I’ve had an Mac Mini, a Mac Pro Tower and an iPhone so with this being the first having any issues is still good.
Even so, it’s been fun learning the new things I can do with it and aging, love Scribble and the pressure sensitive pen.

Hey Gary, I have a Samsung Tab A, and I just want to ask you something. To start off, the screen is just trash. When I bought this Tablet, it was good-ish, and then after two years, it started lagging a lot. Now it just gets heated up and I can't use it 'cos it's all laggy. I am planning on buying the iPad 8th gen. Is it a good one to upgrade to?

I don’t have a budget for the air. So I ordered this instead. I’ll use it for online meetings, storyboarding, and video editing on the side.
One of my main concerns is the file transfer speeds. I have a 5yr old 12” retina MacBook but it can’t edit videos without major stutters. But it can easily copy video files from the SD Card (with a usb-c SD Card dongle). But the iPad is a better editing machine.
So what would your advice be: should I just airdrop unedited videos from SD card to the iPad via MacBook or should I get a lightning-SD Card dongle?

Can u edit photos using Lightroom with the 8 of course not professionally but is the screen brightness ok and is the non laminated screen very noticeable when u edit ? I have the iPad Pro 10.5 but it broke I already have the Apple Pencil and apple keyboard and the Logitech new mouse keyboard so I didn’t want to have to go to the Apple pen 2 and new keyboard - like I said I only use it for basic stuff and edit photos from my Nikon but for fun - I thought this 8 with the 128gb or the. iPad Air 3 but the 64 gb. Kinda same price Thx

  • @antoespiga

The big problem here is the damn lightning port. I hate it. If it had a standard usb-c port the 32gig wouldn't be so much of a deal breaker as you could hook an external HD or SSD directly to offload heavy files. Now you need an adapter, more clutter and easily gets lost. Also, with usb-c you can charge your laptop, phone and tablet with the same power brick. But no, Apple had to keep that proprietary connector. And their lightning cables are expensive and flimsy, if you want a durable one you have to go 3rd party. End of rant.
Besides that, it's a pretty good device.

Same man. Before I got my 32GB iPad 8 I used a 16GB iPad mini 2 for 5 and a half years. But even with 16GB of storage, I had absolutely 0 issues with space since I used it for media, drawing, RUclips, some light games, and other basic school tasks. I still have a bit over 11GB of space left on my iPad 8 atm since I'm a light user :D
