We use a gallon (well, 4L) of milk per week for a family of four. But we mostly use it for morning cereal, recipes when cooking, making soup, or for tea. We use table cream for our coffee.

On the milk analogy, if you only need one gallon you don't drink a lot of milk. I can go through 3-4 gallons in a week
