serious props to Gabriel. looks like the flimsiest thing you've ever seen, you expect anyone with a spinning weapon to rip it's huge, thin looking wheels clean off, and it goes to the final.
i DO feel sorry for chompalot..but...we got to see pulsar agian..and well we know what happened next! HOWEVER..if pulsar lost to ironside (after he was pitted) i would be like welp...its typhoon vs storm 2 again...
Bit of a shame to see Thermidor 2 go out so quickly... but they've never been the most resilient robot to be honest. Pulsar though... how lucky can ya get? :)
I think the intent is to cause the internals to vibrate and become dislodged, causing robots to fail that way. Thor has a blunt weapon, and I think Terrorhurtz is the same way. (The Terrorhurtz team have the robot Beta in Battlebots--now that is a specimen.) It's different, but depressingly the more standard spinners are more effective.
For some reason there are topics about Robot Wars on the Battlebots reddit as well. (I'd be pissed off about that if I liked Battlebots and not Robot Wars.)
It seems that on battlebots and Robot Wars alike, people underestimate the power of blunt force shock. If you can slam a robot hard enough to rock it badly on the inside then you don't need to rip them to shreds and that's been the strategy for bots like Thor and Gabriel on Robot Wars as well as Beta and Chomp on Battlebots.
They should have done Gabriel vs Thor for the wildcard place wanted Gabriel to go through so much. So durable yet couldn't actually do any damage to another robot as well.
There is a lot of pretty good German robots and I think they had one robot wars series during the classic era they have lots of good robots like tsunami and black hole
What, in this heat? That's just _wrong_. Gabriel won a live event recently (2016 Stevenage) and Team Nuts posted the damage they'd received. Gabriel's sword completely mangles mild steel and box-section, and puts considerable wounds into other armour materials like the rapidly-approaching-ubiquitous hardox. While the fact that arenas are ungodly expensive means there aren't many spinners in the UK live show meta, the idea that Gabriel can't pack a punch because of its incredibly effective defensive design and construction is ludicrous. Also, Pulsar (if they managed to sort out their constant control issues; one of the guys from Team Nuts turned up as an auxiliary team member to hammer together a vaguely-working control setup with them) has a very, very efficient drum spinner, and Ironside 3 is basically the engine block of a Messerschmidt out for blood; they're both extremely effective at what they do, and it's a credit to Gabriel's innovative design that they did so little real damage. Ironically, the robot best equipped to fight them was a crusher like Chompalot; the plates on the main bodywork are HDPE as well as the wheels, so a beakee with a bit of oomph behind it (Draven, Razer, one of the Mings, Apex from the live shows) can do some very nasty things to it. Plus, good luck getting past the active weapon rule with your cardboard box. Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.
Got to disagree. Pulsar and Gabriel were strong but the highlight of this episode was the roboteers' driving skills which made up for great fighting, especially in the final.
I don't know if it's the camera angles or the lack of music or whatever but the fights in the new RW just feel so boring especially when compared to the epic battles of old.
Gabriel was beyond boring to watch that series. 'i don't want to damage him anymore'. Dude...you're literally poking him with that thing. Hardly damaging. At least with Huge it had a spinner to use.
What you dont realise is Thermidor is nowadays a highly technically outdated design, itd be more surprising if any true retros made it out of the first round.
A new age of robots is here. I know you posted this along time ago but I hope your less salty now. We may treasure the past but at this point without serious upgrades no 7th series robot has a chance. And if your really that stuck in the past you can always look to terrorhurtz or Apollo the spacehog.
"we can patch him together again, we just need more gaffer tape!"
*Robot bursts into flames*
Nice final last words.
"We can patch it together again. Just needs more gaffer tape."
*Chompalot immediately bursts into flames*
This is what happens when you tempt fate...
"It's on fire, it's-it's actually on fire." This is why I love RW, such dry humor.
TheHumbleFellow what kind of batteries don't catch fire even when damaged?
serious props to Gabriel. looks like the flimsiest thing you've ever seen, you expect anyone with a spinning weapon to rip it's huge, thin looking wheels clean off, and it goes to the final.
Simon and Debs showed that they could carry on trying, but the damage to Chompalot was really extensive.
I like how the flipper is an active hazard this series than in the original series when it was just for show after a robot was immobilized.
I'm so happy Jonathan pierce is back, he really plays a big part in robot wars
David Maynard he's been the sole commentator of RW to date excluding the Dutch, German and US wars
was really happy and impressed that all 3 judges came down to let the pulsar team know they were back in ,good emotional response
i DO feel sorry for chompalot..but...we got to see pulsar agian..and well we know what happened next!
HOWEVER..if pulsar lost to ironside (after he was pitted) i would be like

Chompalot: Press "F" to pay respects.
Bit of a shame to see Thermidor 2 go out so quickly... but they've never been the most resilient robot to be honest. Pulsar though... how lucky can ya get? :)
Gabriel was a very cool design but I didn't really notice it ever doing actual damage

Oh that's actually pretty cool. I didn't even know there was a subreddit for that
For some reason there are topics about Robot Wars on the Battlebots reddit as well. (I'd be pissed off about that if I liked Battlebots and not Robot Wars.)

RIP TO CHOMPALOT!
LOL JUST NEEDS MORE DUCK TAPE!
Oh Thermidor, welcome back. Better luck next year.
pulsar was salty a f and wanted to cry but the look on his face when he got the win LOL
is it just me or do the competitor robots look like lightweights in comparison to the house robots and the arena
Shunt is the lightest at 230kg and Sir Kill-a-lot is the heaviest at 750kg.
You can't flip Gabriel
i wonder if they will have all the runners up fight all at once for the final slot
Pulsar had so much potential, shame it didn't get to show it.
Wow he is on fire 🔥 bad news if u are a chompalot fan
I think Gabriel deserved to win as it literally couldn't be damaged
Chompalot on fire is a highlight
They should have done Gabriel vs Thor for the wildcard place wanted Gabriel to go through so much. So durable yet couldn't actually do any damage to another robot as well.
Is anybody here that is still waiting for the Rio games to be over so we can watch Battle Bots again? Plus I love both shows ^///^
Oh is that why they stopped? They should make robot fighting part of the Olympics XD
Rennie Ash we wish
IDK why it doesn't get that much Hype in germany
There is a lot of pretty good German robots and I think they had one robot wars series during the classic era they have lots of good robots like tsunami and black hole
Best of luck to Pulsar! Hope you can fix your reliability issues!
Spyrelle Phea They've returned in the 2017 series
Have they? I've been watching the 2017 episodes and so far I don't think I've seen them yet.
Spyrelle Phea I have read the Robot Wars website and the Robot Wars Wiki - Pulsar will be back!
I love the new series, but please bring back Craig Charles and the cheesy battle rock music!
Yes! We need the music!
how is it fair that the arena robots put ironside on its wheels again after they clearly couldnt do it themselfes?
The fight was given to its opponent for that reason as it wasnt intentional
to be honest I could of brought a cardbord box with a wall Mart rc under it and won XD
and then you fight carbide.lolhavefun.avi

Jesus I was kidding no need to get all butthurt I was just saying most of the robots were weak and lame
The new Robot Wars is not as good as the original, but there are some pretty good battles in the new series.
Weakest episode of the season so far, poorest robots. By far
what about pulsar?
I dunno, I really liked Gabriel's design. It was almost infallible, although it lacked a killer weapon, unlike the (very similar) design of Stinger
yea because the robot was so lightweight spinners struggled a lot to do any type of damage because the robot would just bounce off
Got to disagree. Pulsar and Gabriel were strong but the highlight of this episode was the roboteers' driving skills which made up for great fighting, especially in the final.
yea
sr.killalot sayed:I think I em the biggest thing of the world😅
Gabriel is the most dumbest robot design ever seems like they had a tiny budget
Gabriel should have went through instead of pulsar
I don't know if it's the camera angles or the lack of music or whatever but the fights in the new RW just feel so boring especially when compared to the epic battles of old.
They're not boring, but the old battles were a lot more destructive.
Question... Where was Matilda.
ThatSideOTheInternet probably down for repairs/maintenance
Gabriel was beyond boring to watch that series. 'i don't want to damage him anymore'. Dude...you're literally poking him with that thing. Hardly damaging. At least with Huge it had a spinner to use.
why was michael jackson in this videos
Neet
Sad
Reality Robot Wars TV
I hate this Show bullshit - i just wont to see the Fight and not some fast CameraCuts
first
Thermidor out so soon and Pulsar going through? This new series is pure garbage!
