I just wanted to say thank you so much. I’ve been living with this for almost 4 years and this finally fixed it. For anybody attempting this, there cannot be enough emphasis to be extra careful with the wires when you take everything apart. Almost gave myself a heart attack when I thought I snapped the large cable so close to the end of the disassembly. Good luck to everyone with this problem!
I just bought my son his first car, a 2014 Toyota Camry. I wasn't familiar with this problem and my heart sank after we bought it and I noticed you couldn't press any of the bottom buttons. I started investigating online and the initial hits were saying you had to either get a new head unit for massive $$$ or replace it with an aftermarket with Apple Car Play, etc. Well, while I was tempted to go the replacement Car Play route, my gut told me that I would lose the vehicle's settings features that are done through the screen and I didn't want to risk it. Then, I ran across your video. I wasn't sure it would work, but I figured it couldn't hurt for $25. In the end, worked like a charm and now everything is perfect. Thank you! Some notes: -Video says 2015-2017, but it also worked for the 2014 -My first time putting the part in I accidentally put it in backwards, and I didn't take the 4 strips off of the sides. The part came with no instructions. I didn't look at the old part and the new part for orientation and instead just went naturally with the direction the electronic ribbon was going. Well, it was going to opposite way it needed to go. You actually need to peel the protective film off the front and back of the screen AND pull the 4 strips off of the sides around the screen that allow the internal gasket piece to stick to the screen and exposes the circuitry underneath. I ended up having to take the head piece apart a second time, which went more quickly because I had just done it once already, and fixed everything and when it went in it worked like a charm. Now, I can go and explore all of the car's settings THANK YOU AGAIN! AWESOME $25 REPAIR!!!! Used the exact part on Amazon you linked.
Thank you!! My bottom half screen was unresponsive, it wasn’t working with a pencil, pen or anything else. Instead of changing the whole screen, I decided to trust your video and ordered the part. It worked out perfectly. Thank you for sharing this video. One thing I’d like to add is to attach the sticky rubber on the edges of the previous screen to the new screen. Or else the new screen will slide up and down slightly.
This video gave me the confidence to do this. I did use the link to order the screen and they ended up sending me the wrong one 😢. I went on Amazon and bought one. Installed it using the video and it turned out great. Thank you for posting this!!!
I can’t believe I finally found a fix for my broken car radio. I’m gonna try it and buy the simple parts. I need someone to do it for me because I can’t do it myself. I need the part number but I’ll find it. You’re amazing for helping everyone else. Thank you for put up the video. You saved us all a ton of money and time bro..
Mine works now! before everything don’t work even the steering wheel buttons now everything works! this video helps me a lot!!! Thank you for this bro i can’t thank you enough. I went to the dealership and they said they have to replace the whole thing which will cost you a lot of money! And i went to an Audio Shop they’ll put an android one for like $600, i only spent $27 for that one part and everything works now. I don’t usually comment on videos on youtube but you saved me a lot of money! Thank you bro ❤
6 November 2024. Just completed the repair, and my screen works great! All my buttons around the screen and on the steering wheel work again too. I took my time with the whole project and everything went well.
Thank you so much! I bought my 2016 Camry earlier this year, and just a few months into owning it, I ran into the issue of the screen being unresponsive. My steering wheel controls wouldn’t work either (for audio and phone). I’m not particularly mechanical or even much adept at repairs, but I decided to tackle the issue after watching your video. I watched it several times before attempting the repair and while doing it. Thanks for your methodical run-through and pretty good camera angles!
I was able to change screen on a 2014 Camry SE thanks to your video. I was nervous, took my time, and watched your video several times before and during the installation. Good job saved me thousands and no dealer visit😅
Thanks for taking the time to make and share this video! Good audio recording, great step-by-step detail, good pacing, and straight to the point. I replaced this screen in a 2016 Camry LE after the touch screen and steering wheel button controls stopped working. After ruling out the fuses, I figured a less than $20 part and your detailed video is worth trying before dropping money on a new radio. Everything is currently working so I suspect the old screen was shorting out and not allowing the steering wheel controls to do anything. I don't know if that was actually the case, but I'm really happy everything works again and appreciate your help!
I was thinking I was going to have to replace the whole infotainment system. Now reading that im having the exact same issues you had, I realized that it probably is the fucking digitizer screen I have to replace. My dumbass was thinking maybe the ribbons inside are loose but I know that my steering wheel buttons don't work, and my screen is having "ghost touches" all the time. Gonna buy the replacement digitizer and try the install. Hopefully I don't have to replace the entire system though!
Thank you very much for this video, was able to fix my 2015 camry in which half of the touch screen was unresponsive. Easy 15$ fix which could have cost me 1000 bucks.
Thank you for posting this video, it was very useful. However, I think it’s very useful to remove the access door to the connector cables between the front controller to the device, as you noticed yourself. I’m just adding this here for whoever is watching this to know to do that first. Additionally when ordering this from Amazon I thought the seller sent the wrong part, however when I inspected it the second time the connector cable from the digitizer to the board was bent the opposite way with respect to the original part. After correcting that mistake, it all worked as designed. Good luck to whoever will be doing this, if anyone, anymore, these days.
It worked perfectly for me, I have fixed the non responsive touch screen in my camry 2015, thank you for the video, it was very useful! I was about to get a second had radio unit, not knowing if it's going to fix the problem. but decided to try replacing the digitiser myself.
I follow everything you did now. My radio touch pad works perfectly , and all the buttons on my left steering wheel work. It took me about less than 2 hrs. I got mind on ebay cost me $13.99, thank you. ❤
Pretty simple replacement! Thanks for sharing, fixed the radio no problem. The only issue I had was the first to ribbon wire connections; they flip up and down to lock, they do not push in and out.
I really appreciate you taking the time to do this tutorial, Help me a lot I appreciate the step-by-step if it was not for that I would have broke the ribbon cables pulling to hard. Now I can listen to music and add my new phone. Thank you so much
Thank you for this great video. I've replaced my touch display in 1 hour. P.S. It would be better to mention to unplug 2 flex cables from media unit first (you have to remove 3 screws and pop up the metal cover to access to those flex cable plugs in the media unit) and unplug those before pry the while thing out.

Oh my god thank you so much this issue has been messing with me for YEARS because I don't want to fork over 2k for a new OEM unit or 500+ for an aftermarket one with idatalink.

Problem been fixes ! I was following your video step by step had same problem on my Toyota Camry 2015 and this video really helped only little thing after my screen been fixed now my engine light check on how I can release that ? Please help me
This repair has basically nothing to do with something that could cause a check engine light, it's probably a coincidence. You need to buy an OBD II scanner and see that the cause for the light is.
You need to "flick" up the locking tab and then cable simply slides out. Make sure to use a plastic tool. Here is a picture showing some detail: i.imgur.com/XJgTPxY.jpeg
Hey, I just want to ask a quick question. My 2017 Toyota Camry SE has a touchscreen and the bottom buttons seem to work fine if I just push but the touchscreen goes crazy even if I’m not touching anything. Would this replacement fix that issue? Or is this a larger issue that needs to be addressed?
Hey, thanks for the video, I've been going crazy trying to fix my screen that isnt working, but I cant seem to find out what model it is. Do you know if the digitizers are fairly universal? If I go for any one the same size, is it likely to work?
Unfortunately the digitizers are not universal at all. If you have no additional features like the JBL sound system or GPS navigation built-in, your digitizer should be the same as mine as long as your headunit looks like mine and the face-plate number under the phone button matches mine. If you have these additional features there are other digitizers on ebay, I believe those are similar in dimensions but have the ribbon cables towards the bottom right.
I did everything as instructed, the buttons on the sides started workin again but the screen was still unresponsive, also the volume and tune knobs just stopped working along with the speakers. any help?
The digitizer itself doesn't really have anything to do with the speakers and knob. You probably made a mistake while re-assembling everything. I would check to make sure that when you put back in the headunit you plugged in all the cables and that they are all seated fully.
@exp6094 Super informative video but does the engine need to be on to put car in neutral or just the electrical on. The different clips show the keys in, in the beginning but the keys are not in after, is there a specific way to do that to get the lower head off then move on to the upper head?
You don't need to "start" the car to place it into neutral. Just electrical on and place the car into neutral gear while the parking brake is on. You can leave the car on neutral throughout the repair. The location of the key throughout the repair does not matter at all.
I purchased my digitzer from eBay. I have a link of the listing I used in the video description. I know that many others have found the same part on Amazon as well but I'm not sure what the link for the Amazon listing is.

If you have a similar issue the digitizer is bad. So you just need to find a digitizer for a 2014 camry and while the directions should be similar they will not apply exactly to your car. I found a video showing the procedure on a 2014 camry ruclips.net/video/xYxAlpud5VI/видео.html

There is no way to "calibrate" the screen. You can't fix the old one by calibrating. You have to replace it. This also means when you put in a new one there is no calibration required and it is plug and play.

@@victormanuelcalvo1385 I've updated the link in the video description and in this comment, thanks for letting me know.
@@exp6094 what about 2015 Camry SE, different?
Worked for me!
My screen doesn’t even come on at all no matter what
I will try to do it
Vidout change touch ee can.t calibration old
There is no way to "calibrate" the screen. You can't fix the old one by calibrating. You have to replace it. This also means when you put in a new one there is no calibration required and it is plug and play.
Oh my!
I love you
lol
Thank you for saving me $1100. I followed your steps and took me like an hour in total. Bought the screen of Amazon for $18 and it's working great 👍
Do you have a link for this friend? I’ve been looking on Amazon and I can’t find the exact one.
@@officialspek7670 I posted the link but they took it off.
