Screaming vocals are like pulling your dick out.. if you do it in the right setting, with the right person, and everyone involved is expecting it, it can be a lot of fun... But if any of those things are true everyone's just going to awkwardly judge you amongst themselves and if you're too overly conspicuous about it somebody will probably call the cops. But every time you pull it off successfully you feel like a god inside.

I'm so proud of my self because, I started teaching myself just the bfmv screams at 11 then when I was 13 I got better so I'd start teaching myself lows jamming to anything heavy and I'm 14 now and, I can do these lows that Will Ramos can do, before watching this and, I didn't know I was even close to his level of talent. I'm very happy to know I can do that:)

A really good tip I can offer for false chord is to constrict the air, literally picture in your throat making a smaller hole for the air to come out, this will not only make it sound better but will also allow you to sustain the sound for longer without feeling out of breat because you are using less air (I know he already mentioned compressing the air in the video but I find a mental image helps with actually being able to do it) Not trying to promote but to back up what I am saying I am the Vocalist of Celestival if you want to check if I can actually do what I am preaching lol

  • @Oryyyt

One thing that helped me understand about constriction is that it's the same sensation as the end of a cough or holding a cough halfway through and pushing the air out. That part is always confusing.

    • @XwoooahX
      @XwoooahX Год назад +5

Yep, that will prevent too much air, and really for me start with a whisper for your voice. Then learn to shout through a whisper by pushing air and voice through it. The primary sound should be the distortion and your voice behind it actually becomes secondary compared to talking.

    You use to much air...
    1. Try to get the tone more of from belly... When you got the tone out, fix your bellymuscels like you would put on a corset (that´s how I learned it) and try to lock it.
    2. Sing a "U" or and "O" with it. He´s doing the deathgrowls (like they normally are) without parts of the singing voice. For you it´s easier to start with a "U" or "O".
    3. Get it into "rolling"... like Johann Heck. When you got a "rolling" felling IN or UNDER your larynx, then you´re doing it right.
And now the biggest tip.... You can train the muscels that you need for this very effectifly with the help of an cork 😄
Do it between the teeth and close your lips around it. now press the air threw it. Your belly will be activate and you train your body with it.
To get real low growls you sing with the cork low notes. When that works, start a little bit higher and get then lower...
It´s easier for the body to get lower from higher notes and not directly.
So that´s it... Hope you read the comment, that you can work with it 😅
    greetings from germany

He starts with false cords, but then connects epiglottal folds to them, so not everything they say is true, we all saw his throat perfectly on camera, and saw that this sound comes from twisting the epiglottic folds. I’m lucky I learned how to close them and I can reproduce the same sounds, but I don’t think that you can learn this by squeezing false cords

There are other scope videos done by Brandon Kennedy and a few other death metal vocalists that show false cord differently than Will. Depends on anatomy and technique. For Wills growls he closed his false folds more which hid his vocal folds from view so you could not see if they were more open or closed. The false cord growl is done the same way as Kargaraa where you vibrate the false cords and cartilage around them, but with more relaxed and open vocal folds than Kargarraa or normal speaking. If you whisper and then try to make that loud like you are shouting through it, that will be a relaxed / open vocal fold coordination. With the right airflow you will vibrate the false cords and create a growl.

Yes, that’s false chord. Once you get it down, it flows like butter and you can make some pretty gnarly sounds. You’re just going to look and sound like a mental patient either way, so have fun with it lmao I’m going on 16-17 years as a metal vocalist and some of the coolest things I learned to do came from the stupidest of ideas. Like there’s a thing I do similar to tunnel throat, except I slide my tongue over to one side and it has a more clear sound without so much of the overtone. Just a small shift can change things up in small ways. In a way, it’s like a fighting game. Once you know the base moves, you can mix and march em for different results. Keeps from sounding too samey. And for me, I actually add a tad bit more of my voice sometimes just as a little seasoning. I love these kind of vocals but I hate hearing people who stick to one thing. Like learning to do a smooth transition from high to low or low to high with that side tongue thing, but start normally and move your tongue as you change pitch and it has this really cool shift with the overtone as well. Honestly, as long as you’re serious about the health and safety part, the rest is all goofing off and not taking it seriously. Because once the first part is down, the rest is experimenting, unless you stick with basic lows, mids, and highs. In a way, it takes a lot of humility to do this haha I laugh at myself all the time because I know how stupid it really is at the end of the day. Cool af, but stupid none the less.

one thing I will add to what will said when doing the huh sound in that lower false cord. Imagine trying to fog a window with warm breath and that should help you get the pitch down to where you want it to be hope this helps
