is EL wire waterproof? for say...outdoor Christmas DIY project (I understand you have to protect the power source, but I'm wondering about the wire itself?
Okay so I have an idea to make a really cool lamp out of an old CO2 laser tube, i have a pretty small diameter of glass tube to put lights through but fortunately its open on either side, any suggestions as to what spurce of lighting i should use. I want to plug this into the wall, and since it is south Africa we run 220v to 240v from the mains.
Hi, is it possible to connect the el wire directly on the cars interior lightning?? Connecting it directly to for example the cars window button regulator, so when it lights up at night the el wire should light also?? Thanks
Made a small Lightsaber for my Darth Vader Statue that I made using 3v el wire, the issue is that it’s not very bright. Been looking at 5v and even 12V but I think the 12V is actually a strip instead of a tube profile. Is there a way to increase brightness without burning the wire?
that's what ive been waiting also..he didnt mention how many volts will come out in the inverter to power up the el wire..is it ac or dc..what's the purpose of measuring the wire?..
yeah, when you cut it to your desired length you will find 2 'angel hair' wires and the main center wire. Just keep them separated and you should be fine. (the angel hair wires can touch eachother). I've heard you can just cut it at an angle and tape the end, but I've never tried that so I can't recommend it. And to answer your other question, yes they do need the inverter. EL wire is run off high voltage AC current, the batteries only supply DC.
Not directly, you'll need a power pack to go from the wall power to 12v then into the inverter that plugs into the el wire. I'm pretty sure there's nothing that goes from the wall straight to the el wire.
Actually, you remind me of math teachers, who could solve any problem thrown at them, but couldn't teach anyone else a damn thing unless they already knew what they were doing. Every one of your videos has confused me even more.
This isn't very informative. It's kinda just a sales pitch. Doesn't explain anything about how you do anything other than plug them in to a power source.
This is are largest inverter, it can power 300...feet. Uh, up to 200 feet. Yes total infomercial, I need other questions answered. Not how to power them.
lakshmi prabha For EL wire to continuously glow, it needs a constant supply of electrical current. With alternating current (AC), the electrical current moves back and forth between the positive and negative poles of the circuit. This alternating polarity means that electricity constantly flows through the circuit, giving the EL wire a constant electrical supply. Consequently, the phosphor atoms are continuously being ionized, or having their electrons change energy level. Since these ions are always having their electrons jump from one energy level to another -- the process by which they emit light -- they will glow continuously. DC would only excite the electrons in one direction because of the nature of DC thus no glow.
Who in the hell gets confused with a battery box, Plugging some connector to said battery box, using a cable to extend where you want to reach. People want to know how/where to cut, how to splice different colours together etc, that is where the most confusion is, Congrats on teaching people how to suck eggs.
What, this is a freaking awful video. If I had no knowledge about EL wires and EL inverters, I would end up more confused with the bad video. You literally don't explain anything, just say here I use this and I plug this to this and now we can power it. Nice....
"We're gonna turn the light off so you can see it."
I had to light a match to see if they were on!
For those who don't know, the inverters often make an annoying high pitched noise, that is noticeable. Just saying

I am interested in taking apart and LED kit, swapping out the LEDs for glow wire.. is that possible? Are there any specific connectors I'd need?

Why would you need an inverter for a standard outlet that's already operating ac? Couldn't you just plug el wire straight into a wall?
You did not give any reason for measuring the wire. But, you kept telling us to. Can it be to long?

No answers?
Someone told me that is possible. But we still need the inverter.

I made the guitar neck for this system, but there are noises induced by the controller for the pickups, how do I solve this problem?
Is there a way to soldier wires together?
I ordered red ones and they were not bright at all, even in the dark, anyone know why?
I've a 3 volt inverter for my 2.3 mm el wire, but the glow is very less, if i use a 9 volt adapter or 12 volt adapter will it glow more or same?
Hello....My wire broke away from the connectors right where the black wiring begins. Is there any way to fix this back?? ty.
I'm still confused. Can these be spliced, added to other wire, how about that genius?
be nice!!!
Yes they can.
Great videos.
Please show how to repair el wire inverters.
How bright are they? If they are as bright as shown in this video, they cannot be use in tail lights of the car... Or are there brighter ones too?
You could possibly add a resistor to your circut to dim it a bit
You're not telling, what is the actual voltage needed to power the EL wire, AC or DC. If I know that, I will made my own inverter and connectors 😁
that's what ive been waiting also..he didnt mention how many volts will come out in the inverter to power up the el wire..is it ac or dc..what's the purpose of measuring the wire?..
Be good to have a usb connection
Can u wire to 12v car or truck fuse box for like the parking light wire?
You can get 12v inverters
Am I the only one reading it with a Spanish accent?
no you are not
Can i cut the EL wire according to my design??
I'd also like to know this please

do you know what can I use to plug my El Wire directly to the AC ?
I hate using batteries !

@1:23 That is not a CE logo as in Conform European. That CE is Chinese Export rip-off. You probably shouldn't be selling/buying this.

can these wires be powered via a USB port
USB has a 5 volt DC power. You need 12 volts to run EL wires
@@amanvds 12volts??? 2 aa batteries dont produce 12, they do 1.5ish
Yeah they can
Cabin lamp also 12v..
You have more El wire ,,, i have requard
thank you!!
brilliant!!!
