I had her. The only woman I’ve ever truly loved since I was 10 years old. She was my first love. My first kiss. My first best friend. My first everything. And I let her go. Once we were older I really fell down a hard path with drinking. I couldn’t control myself. She stood by me through it all.
She was there when I drank so much I ended up in the ER. And she was still willing to stand by my side, even wanted to use her own savings to put me through rehab. At that point I had to walk away. I knew I hadn’t hit my rock bottom yet & I didn’t have it in me to let my drinking ruin her life too. Going through the pain of walking away from her was my real wake up call that I couldn’t live without her.
But I wasn’t gonna walk back into her life until I changed. So I got sober for her. It took me almost 3 years. By then she found an amazing guy who truly deserved her.
As devastating as it was for me I’m still so happy she found someone who made her feel happy. We are still friends to this day but I’ve never stopped loving her. Been close to 5 years since they got married. I’ve tried and failed relationships. Nothing I do will ever make me stop loving her. So I’ve decided I’m content with being alone for the rest of my life. I can’t enter a relationship knowing any other woman will always come second in my heart.
To whoever reads this, don’t ever let her go.

I remember back in my 4th Grade year of elementary school, I had a teacher named Mr.Barron. He loved this song and always made sure to mention to our class everyday just how much this song was his favorite. He even gave us bonus points for recording the song on the radio and showing him….
I think this was his way of inserting the memory of his favorite song into our heads, so that when we were older, we could come back to this song and truly understand what the lyrics meant; the songs true message. He’s a good man, I didn’t understand back then, but he was looking out for us even in the future . He knew we’d become teens and eventually adults trying to process pain, some of us without parental figures to guide us. Thanks, Mr.Baron

4 months and 10 days ago, my grandmother passed away. Rest in peace Grandma. October 28th 1939- December 15th 2022. Loved by her 6 children and uncountable grandchildren.
