Very funny, Mr. Postalakis. +I love the Carver reference. Was the idea for this conversation inspired by Carver's story, "Fat"?
I haven’t read that one. Inspiration was from the poem “Gravy”…but mostly from me walking home one night from UCB, after having hung out with Rich. On the subway, I kept doing an impression of Rich to myself where he said “I love gravy”.
I went home and wrote half the script that night. Then I showed it to my friend, the novelist JD O’Brien, who added some great stuff (“God invented the peanut”).
The last thing added to the script was the long joke Matt tells, which has been part of my stand-up act for years.
@@mikepostalakis Thank you for the reply, Mr. Postalakis. The literary nature of your work also makes me think you would be a genius of producing engaging, academic content, which could do much to argue/preserve the value of the humanities.
