"You got through all your hardest days so far. You're going to get through the hard days ahead. But also, don't anticipate that they're going to be hard. Like you can have reality about your situation without having dread." That completely resonates with me right now! I feel like I really needed to hear that at this moment. Thank you.

I had major surgery last year and one of the things I continually reminded myself was something you mentioned in an older video, the line from Kimmy Schmidt of "I can do anything for five seconds". Every time I had to work on recovery or had a hard day I kept reminding myself of this and it really helped me stay focused on now and not spiral into the unknown. Sending prayers for a smooth and fast recovery!

I tell my husband all the time: "Try to turn your anxiety into excitement". They are both really powerful emotions, but one is negative and one is positive. I think its easier to have dread/anxiety about upcoming situations; But its more healthy to view it in the positive and experience excitement about your situation. You said you keep telling your daughter about how exciting school is going to be etc, convince yourself of the same. Dont dwell and dread the time commitment, but rather be excited for your daughter, the time/break you will have to do other things while she is in "school" and how it will positively impact your family as a whole. The rest will "work itself out". And, again, dont forget how helpful it can be to pay for someone to take your kiddo to "school" daily for you. It can be one of those 3 "take it off the plate/delegate" things. Its money well spent if the time commitment really is making you lose sleep. Good luck, my friend!

We are a military family and a couple years ago had to move from Wisconsin to Virginia (6 month training) to Kansas all in one school year. I have 5 kids who at the time were ages 18 months-12 years. Before the year began I realized my focus was going to be on emotional wellbeing and simplicity for my family. The kids did math, spelling, grammar, and silent reading on their own. We read the Bible together and read through all 9 novels of Little House. I would read aloud 1-2 chapters a day we would discuss and choose 1 thing each day to learn more about. It could be science, social studies, life skills etc. as long as we chose something. We would watch youtube or documentaries to learn more. We also explored the history in Virginia. They did copywork (length depended on age) and journaling for writing. Some may disagree with this year but I don't regret it for a second. The older kids had to test and did well and we all kept our mental and emotional health that year with no community and no family close. I look back with such fond memories and that experience brought our family together. This past year and this current year the rigor has been more so all is well. I don't know if this means anything to you and your world because our lives are different except to say it's okay if some years look different than others. They all come together to create a beautiful education.

I could have written this! We are a military family too about to move to Virginia for a 6 month school with 5 kids ages 2-12 during that time. I am praying now how to stay on track and still accomplish everything.

@@jessicajackson1088 Aww, how neat! Deep breath....it ended up being a great time for us. If you homeschool, I would recommend you create a value based school year just like Lydia recommends a value based budget. For me, that meant way less seat work and way more local adventures, read alouds, and discussions/working through emotions. I hope it ends up being as positive for you as it was for us!

"I've been here before, I'll be here again, and I will always get through it". That's what I TRY to remember in times of stress and anxiety. Emphasis on the word try. I also get stressed out and think I need to everything right here and right now. When I don't meet that expectation of myself, I beat myself up. It's hard for me to prioritize and realize that some things can wait. Asking for help is difficult. I feel as though we as women are always helping other people, but when we need the help, it difficult to ask for it and accept it.
Thank you for sharing this video. I admit I cried... You're amazing.

Thought I'd mention that the pandas will come back. China is switching them out right now. They took out pandas from Washington zoo and then brought a couple new ones back. Same thing for I think it was the San Diego zoo, just saw two new pandas arrived. I haven't done a deep dive into this, but I assume it's to keep the gene pool as diversified as possible to ensure survival of the amazing creatures.

I am terrified of something going wrong with that. My husband and I have always been the primary transportation for our kiddos so yeah I am anxious. Also, trying to reschedule therapies around school and a few new activities all while I still feel like I can’t really adult too. So yes giving grace to each other and myself during transitions and always ❤

Thanks for sharing Lydia. I appreciate your raw honesty with all the crazy stuff that is going on in your life. It makes me feel that I can do so much better. I know that I can; because I see that you are doing it. That's not to say that I think you are a perfect superwoman. You are just a human who is just working hard day by day. Some of those days may not work out the way you wanted or goals may not have been met; but you pivot and you keep moving. That is where I think you are a superwoman. Wishing you well on your upcoming surgery and testing. Final word. I belong to a book club and we just got done with "A Gentleman in Moscow." It was such a great read and yes, there is a short series (which I have not seen); but I always prefer the book over a movie. Take care and God bless you.
