His daughter Lily Rose almost died when she was young and in the hospital for a little while so that probably is another reason. He stayed by her side the entire time and after she got better and left the hospital he donated 2 million to that hospital in thanks and gratitude. I have always thought that he is a genuine great person and still do through all the shit that woman put him through.
Johnny absolutely is. He is truly one of a kind. I don't know of another person of his standing that is as generous as he is. His generosity goes back to when he was just starting out in the entertainment industry.

In the last clip, if you check out the full version, there’s actually an interview with the little girl at the end, and during that interview, the little girl asked what happened to his finger because it was bandaged. He made jokes about how he ate the tip of it because he was hungry. This video was Australia, 2015😢 For him to go out of his way to put smiles on the faces of these children in the hospital, when he himself was also hurting, kinda breaks my heart.💔

He doesn’t do this for any reason other than that he had a seriously sick child (Lily Rose) hospitalized while filming Pirates. As a father of a cancer patient you don't know how good it was to see the happy looks on these kids faces. My daughter LIVES for Captain Jack...well except shed probably poke him in the eye she's a little violent lol. This made me tear up but also makes me realize how fantastic a man Johnny Depp really is. Well done sir. I kinda forgot to put in that she's in remission now. I have followed Johnny's career since 21 Jump Street and have read and heard about his kind nature for years. He has given a street person who was sitting on a street choking on a piece of meet, the heimlich maneuver. He was not that familiar with the meuniver, but a friend with him told him right away what to do and he did it. He also gave this same man some money and then went into an eatery. I had also heard stories about him jumping in to save a few people at different times that had overdosed on drugs around the time he owned the Viper Room in LA. During filming of Pirates of the Caribbean, Johnny gifted hundreds of crew members with warm coats during production to make sure they were comfortable in the cold British weather. Johnny has also visited Australia's Queensland Children's Hospital with his Captain Jack Sparrow character as well. There is no end to this man's kindness which may partly come from the tough childhood he and his brothers and sisters endured.
I have a daughter who was hospitalized 7 times from 8 years old to 19 years old. It's a very difficult situation to be in. I think it's wonderful that Johnny makes these appearances. It allows the kids to just be kids for a short amount of time.

As a survivor, I can definitively say that these kind of visits are EXTREMELY helpful for children. When I was in the hospital we had Clowns, Star Wars characters, etc visit and all us kids felt overwhelmed with joy, taking our minds off the pain and exhaustion of fighting the fight.
I don’t know how Johnny is able to keep character. I’m watching this and just keep getting tears in my eyes. The empathy from Johnny is just astounding. Beautiful man.
Johnny depp body guard once said that he is such a gentleman and simple fellow that he wants to greet each and everyone of his fans who are waiting for him wherever he goes , but we have to take him forcibly because he gets late to the main event cause he doesn't care about the event rather wants all his fans to be happy . He actually went on few many Christmas parties to fulfill some wishes of children , a prom dance , few more special care hospital , and many more places . He said once that if people even get a little bit of happiness or a smile on their faces that is brought by me or my character (,Capt. Jack sparrow) , i feel i have been successfull in helping them to ease up their life . He always felt sad if he couldn't make some of them in time .
Recently saw an interview where he was asked if he would continue to do Jack Sparrow visiting kids in the hospital after his trial and Disney's treatment.... JD flat out said that he doesn't NEED to take anything with him but the costume and makeup because Jack Sparrow is such "a his creation" (look, act, speech, attitude) that he can do it anywhere, anytime, for anyone WITHOUT having to get anyone else's permission because it is how he IS as a person. You rarely hear of an actor having THAT much influence on a character that the vast majority of that character (outside of trademark looks) is actually THEIR creation to the core. That every element that "makes that character alive" is actually within the actor at any moment that it no longer becomes "acting" but simply "being".

We'd prefer to stay in the shadows and do good. So yeah, I feel very deeply connected with the Johnny Depp's of the world. 💙
My little brother has a congenital heart disease, he had his first heart surgery at 11. These kind of diseases and issues affect the entire life of not only the child but there whole family. Anybody who donates their time like this or organizations like Make A Wish who grants wishes is such a blessing. Even it's just an hour where the kids get to feel normal it gives so much strength to everybody involved and gives them great memories to draw from when they need 😊. ❤️
Wow, he is right about the impact on the parents. Though these kids are facing very adult pain, their parents will have to live with unimaginable pain after burying their child. It seems he understands all these factors and that is commendable. He wants to touch the lives of the people whose lives he has touched. He’s giving back, and I love him for it.

I'm sure that's true. He has a very caring nature. He helped a man on the streets of LA who was choking by giving him the Heimlich maneuver. I've followed his career and became aware of what a kind person he is. There are many instances of him helping people in distress. Some of that caring nature probably comes from his rough childhood.
On Instagram Courtney Love told the story of how JD saved her life when she nearly died of OD and how he helped her daughter for years. Honestly he is a very kind man.
Truly appreciate you shining the light on this. He could easily write a check and he has without trying to get recognition but he goes through the production of being in full Captain Jack Sparrow costume and character spending hours with these sick kids and their families making sure to visit each one. Thank you for this video. I've seen a few of them and they are very emotional. I remember he was on a Graham Norton and he spoke about how when, I believe Lilly Rose was sick and being in the hospital with her and seeing the other parents with their sick children. He said you can see them slowly dying, in a sense. So going to the hospitals is for the children but for the parents as well. I hope he will heal soon and stop abusing his body with drugs, etc. A person who has such inner pain but also has the desire to make others happy especially children is very touching.

I am pretty sure this part was cut but, one of the questions one of the kids asked him was a question about his finger, he visited the hospital after his finger was cut and a kid asked him what happened and he played it off. But now looking at it, I can't help but think about everything else.
It was another of his visits to a different hospital, and his finger was bandaged up. A child asked him what happened and he replied that “I was hungry and I took a bite from me own finger.” You’re right - when you see that now, it just reminds you of what that witch (i.e, AH) did to him.
That tells you what kind of man he is it breaks your heart because after everything this man has been through he still make sure there's a kid out there that's happy and he makes him laugh and he does his part to make sure that that kid is happy at least for one day

In Australia we had an emergency services head shave in the middle of winter. You got to see the kids in the leukaemia wards, dressed up in fireman kit. On the way in your told not to show any sad emotions in front of the kids, until you get back in the lift. Doesn't matter how tough you think you are, you end up breaking down in the lift on the way back down. Myself and another firefighter had this opportunity at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. We both sobbed like babies in that lift on the way back down. The hospital staff actually pause the lift, so we can get some composure, back in front of our colleagues, whom many have gone through the same thing that we had just gone through. Typing this brings back all the emotions from about 30 yrs ago
I imagine being a father himself makes this even more impactful. I don’t remember which of his kids it was (possibly his daughter Lily) but there was a period where he had to be in the 🏥 so he knows what the parents are going through.
This man is the most gentle and kind hearted soul, I can't stand what AH has done to him. He has done this so many times without cameras too. He deserves all the love in the world.
If I didn't know better, I would swear Capt. Jack Sparrow was a real person in these vids. It's one thing to bring a character to life in front of a camera, in a controlled environment, with a script and breaks between takes... It's totally different to fully become that character and act it out in such a way that it's believable to people IRL, without any breaks in character. And as she mentioned, even if you enjoy this type of work, it's totally exhausting to interact with that many people and keep your fun energy up the entire way through. ESPECIALLY with children, because they can be so unpredictable and wacky, it takes even more energy to engage with them in a way that's fun for the children, and in a way they can understand and appreciate. I know some people can play the part for a bit for the sake of good publicity, but he is clearly going above and beyond to make sure each person/child gets to have an authentic and memorable experience with him/his character.

His daughter got E.coli when he was doing "Sweeney Todd" and that's one of the reasons he kept doing this visits, in the graham norton show he said That the Kids are the strong ones and the parents are the ones that are slowly dying and that if he can bring a smile or a giggle that he will keep on doing it.
I have CGD (Chronic Granulomatous Disease) so I have been in and out of the hospital my entire life I mean doctors didn't expect me to live past 5 years old and I'm getting ready to turn 26 in July. And I feel like i can relate to these kids because I was one of them and seeing these kids just light up when Johnny Depp walked into the room means everything because trust me it gets really lonely at times. I love that he does this and hope more people do it. Also i mention my illness because hardly anyone has ever heard of CGD and I used to be ashamed that i had it tbh but now that I'm older I want to bring more awareness to it.

You have to be a special kind of person to be like this near dying children's. This man is a good man, and nothing can change my mind ever, not AH with here garbage, not the drinking or drugs rumors, but this is and should be the measure of a man, by how much joy and happiness he brings in to the world.

SO BEAUTIFUL.....My daughter had a lawn mower accident and lost a portion of her foot when she was little I remember me and her had to stau at the hospital for about 4 months THE CHILDREN HOSPITALS ARE TRULY AMAZING THEY WERE SO GOOD TO US whenever I get down and start to loose faith in humanity I think about the AMAZING people that worked, visited, donated and volunteered there and it gives me hope🙏🙏🙏🙏💙💙💙💙💙

I know what it is to be in hospital for a long time. It's my second home. From my 13 year I have been in different hospitals. Finding Captain Jack or another rare and kind soul who makes you forget the pain & suffering is amazing! It was the 30 year that I went for a yearly neurological check-up, and I bought a cake for the doctors and co-workers (why not). Maybe one day will come that I, as an old (pirate?) captain, is going to read for young kids.
I always love hearing about actors who do this. Being able to bring smiles to these children's faces would be so much more meaningful than any award you could win for a performance. These are the moments that feed ones soul.

When I watched vids of JD signing countless autographs at countless events, and clips of him visiting hospital, and some interviews, I got the sense that he is just a good person. And then, the numerous people speaking up for him regarding his goodness from x partners from the most recent and going back 35 years -all good things to say, and the numerous people speaking out about him regarding his good character and beautiful soul, and how he honored his mother in her terminal illness and made sure she was taken care of, he is a good man. He has spoken how his fans are his employers, that it is the people who buy tickets who are his supporters and who provide for him to provide for his "kiddies," and that he has the utmost respect for them. He is a good man. Hollywood could use more men like him.

I like the fact that he doesn't make it about himself and how generous he is etc...but that he talk about them and how courageous those kids, and parents, are and how they're the special ones. He's a genuine kind person.

He was not that familiar with the meuniver, but a friend with him told him right away what to do and he did it. He also gave this same man some money and then went into an eatery. I had also heard stories about him jumping in to save a few people at different times that had overdosed on drugs around the time he owned the Viper Room in LA. During filming of Pirates of the Caribbean, Johnny gifted hundreds of crew members with warm coats during production to make sure they were comfortable in the cold British weather. Johnny has also visited Australia's Queensland Children's Hospital with his Captain Jack Sparrow character as well. There is no end to this man's kindness which may partly come from the tough childhood he and his brothers and sisters endured.
I have a daughter who was hospitalized 7 times from 8 years old to 19 years old. It's a very difficult situation to be in. I think it's wonderful that Johnny makes these appearances. It allows the kids to just be kids for a short amount of time.

As a survivor, I can definitively say that these kind of visits are EXTREMELY helpful for children. When I was in the hospital we had Clowns, Star Wars characters, etc visit and all us kids felt overwhelmed with joy, taking our minds off the pain and exhaustion of fighting the fight.
I don’t know how Johnny is able to keep character. I’m watching this and just keep getting tears in my eyes. The empathy from Johnny is just astounding. Beautiful man.
Johnny depp body guard once said that he is such a gentleman and simple fellow that he wants to greet each and everyone of his fans who are waiting for him wherever he goes , but we have to take him forcibly because he gets late to the main event cause he doesn't care about the event rather wants all his fans to be happy .
I will say this this is only the few instances of him caught on camera . He actually went on few many Christmas parties to fulfill some wishes of children , a prom dance , few more special care hospital , and many more places . He said once that if people even get a little bit of happiness or a smile on their faces that is brought by me or my character (,Capt. Jack sparrow) , i feel i have been successfull in helping them to ease up their life . He always felt sad if he couldn't make some of them in time .
Recently saw an interview where he was asked if he would continue to do Jack Sparrow visiting kids in the hospital after his trial and Disney's treatment.... JD flat out said that he doesn't NEED to take anything with him but the costume and makeup because Jack Sparrow is such "a his creation" (look, act, speech, attitude) that he can do it anywhere, anytime, for anyone WITHOUT having to get anyone else's permission because it is how he IS as a person.
You rarely hear of an actor having THAT much influence on a character that the vast majority of that character (outside of trademark looks) is actually THEIR creation to the core. That every element that "makes that character alive" is actually within the actor at any moment that it no longer becomes "acting" but simply "being".

As someone with severe social anxiety disorder, I recognize a lot of myself within Johnny Depp. You could tell that his anxiety is very prevalent, from these videos, to the trial. At some point, we HAVE to be extroverted to get through the situation we currently see ourselves in. And we enjoy it for what it is at the time. But, we never choose that path. We'd prefer to stay in the shadows and do good. So yeah, I feel very deeply connected with the Johnny Depp's of the world. 💙
I also noticed that he seemed to keep fighting some awkwardness and shyness...bless him for doing this nonetheless.💙

My little brother has a congenital heart disease, he had his first heart surgery at 11. These kind of diseases and issues affect the entire life of not only the child but there whole family. Anybody who donates their time like this or organizations like Make A Wish who grants wishes is such a blessing. Even it's just an hour where the kids get to feel normal it gives so much strength to everybody involved and gives them great memories to draw from when they need 😊. ❤️

Wow, he is right about the impact on the parents. Though these kids are facing very adult pain, their parents will have to live with unimaginable pain after burying their child. It seems he understands all these factors and that is commendable. He wants to touch the lives of the people whose lives he has touched. He’s giving back, and I love him for it.

I'm sure that's true. He has a very caring nature. He helped a man on the streets of LA who was choking by giving him the Heimlich maneuver. I've followed his career and became aware of what a kind person he is. There are many instances of him helping people in distress. Some of that caring nature probably comes from his rough childhood.
On Instagram Courtney Love told the story of how JD saved her life when she nearly died of OD and how he helped her daughter for years.
Honestly he is a very kind man.

Thank you for this video. I've seen a few of them and they are very emotional. I remember he was on a Graham Norton and he spoke about how when, I believe Lilly Rose was sick and being in the hospital with her and seeing the other parents with their sick children. He said you can see them slowly dying, in a sense. So going to the hospitals is for the children but for the parents as well. I hope he will heal soon and stop abusing his body with drugs, etc. A person who has such inner pain but also has the desire to make others happy especially children is very touching.

I am pretty sure this part was cut but, one of the questions one of the kids asked him was a question about his finger, he visited the hospital after his finger was cut and a kid asked him what happened and he played it off. But now looking at it, I can't help but think about everything else.
It was another of his visits to a different hospital, and his finger was bandaged up. A child asked him what happened and he replied that “I was hungry and I took a bite from me own finger.” You’re right - when you see that now, it just reminds you of what that witch (i.e, AH) did to him.

In Australia we had an emergency services head shave in the middle of winter. You got to see the kids in the leukaemia wards, dressed up in fireman kit. On the way in your told not to show any sad emotions in front of the kids, until you get back in the lift. Doesn't matter how tough you think you are, you end up breaking down in the lift on the way back down. Myself and another firefighter had this opportunity at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. We both sobbed like babies in that lift on the way back down. The hospital staff actually pause the lift, so we can get some composure, back in front of our colleagues, whom many have gone through the same thing that we had just gone through. Typing this brings back all the emotions from about 30 yrs ago
I imagine being a father himself makes this even more impactful. I don’t remember which of his kids it was (possibly his daughter Lily) but there was a period where he had to be in the 🏥 so he knows what the parents are going through.
This man is the most gentle and kind hearted soul, I can't stand what AH has done to him. He has done this so many times without cameras too. He deserves all the love in the world.
If I didn't know better, I would swear Capt. Jack Sparrow was a real person in these vids. It's one thing to bring a character to life in front of a camera, in a controlled environment, with a script and breaks between takes... It's totally different to fully become that character and act it out in such a way that it's believable to people IRL, without any breaks in character.
And as she mentioned, even if you enjoy this type of work, it's totally exhausting to interact with that many people and keep your fun energy up the entire way through. ESPECIALLY with children, because they can be so unpredictable and wacky, it takes even more energy to engage with them in a way that's fun for the children, and in a way they can understand and appreciate.
I know some people can play the part for a bit for the sake of good publicity, but he is clearly going above and beyond to make sure each person/child gets to have an authentic and memorable experience with him/his character.
I had heard that Johnny built that character from the ground up.

I have CGD (Chronic Granulomatous Disease) so I have been in and out of the hospital my entire life I mean doctors didn't expect me to live past 5 years old and I'm getting ready to turn 26 in July. And I feel like i can relate to these kids because I was one of them and seeing these kids just light up when Johnny Depp walked into the room means everything because trust me it gets really lonely at times. I love that he does this and hope more people do it.
Also i mention my illness because hardly anyone has ever heard of CGD and I used to be ashamed that i had it tbh but now that I'm older I want to bring more awareness to it.

You have to be a special kind of person to be like this near dying children's. This man is a good man, and nothing can change my mind ever, not AH with here garbage, not the drinking or drugs rumors, but this is and should be the measure of a man, by how much joy and happiness he brings in to the world.

I know what it is to be in hospital for a long time. It's my second home. From my 13 year I have been in different hospitals. Finding Captain Jack or another rare and kind soul who makes you forget the pain & suffering is amazing! It was the 30 year that I went for a yearly neurological check-up, and I bought a cake for the doctors and co-workers (why not). Maybe one day will come that I, as an old (pirate?) captain, is going to read for young kids.

When I watched vids of JD signing countless autographs at countless events, and clips of him visiting hospital, and some interviews, I got the sense that he is just a good person. And then, the numerous people speaking up for him regarding his goodness from x partners from the most recent and going back 35 years -all good things to say, and the numerous people speaking out about him regarding his good character and beautiful soul, and how he honored his mother in her terminal illness and made sure she was taken care of, he is a good man. He has spoken how his fans are his employers, that it is the people who buy tickets who are his supporters and who provide for him to provide for his "kiddies," and that he has the utmost respect for them. He is a good man. Hollywood could use more men like him.
The whole world needs more men like Johnny Depp!

As a parent of a child who had a life time of hospitalizations, I really related to what Johnny shared in the final interview clip about the kids and the grown up challenges and certainly the observation he made of the parents.."melting'. Yup... sadly I know this well. However just to share further that the kids do grow powerfully strong in mind as do the parents. Yes, you can feel sadness and be super humanly powerful at the same time. Love Johnny for his part in healing the children. Now that he is out of the Disney space, wonder what's next?
