Not many people knew this story before Sabaton brought it to light.
I'm grateful they did.
Lead is a material from which bullets are made, phrase "Facing led once again" literally means that they were marching into bullets.
Got it. It was spelled “led” so I was confused.
I seriously recommend reading more about this story because the details of it are absolutely insane. 100 dying Russians facing 7000 German soldiers and they not only completely terrified the Germans, causing them to drop their guns and run, but before succumbing to the gas they then turned back and destroyed the their own fortress so the Germans couldn't have it.
I'll definitely do that. Thanks!
I love how Sabaton brings focus to so many feats of bravery that weren't known to the general audience before.
People complaining about someone not knowing something from history are more than likely not well versed in history. People that are actually in to history and intentionally learn about it (in my experience) tend to just be glad that someone is showing interest.
the "led" is supposed to be "lead" as in bullets. There is a short movie on YT about this whole battle. It's in Polish but it does have subtitles. Radio Tapok used scenes from the movie in his Russian cover that he released the day before Sabaton released the original...
Is no one going to mentioned that he freaking skipped the whole middle part of the song?! Dafuq!?
I accidentally skipped 30 seconds. My bad. Others have mentioned it.
I highly recommend you check out the cover of this song by Radio Tapok, a Russian guy who translates songs while keeping the meaning and makes music videos. At one point he joined Sabaton on stage when they did their concert in Moscow. Moreover, his version of the video for this song uses footage from Wargaming's short film “Attack of the Dead: Osowiec.”, which reveals the essence of the narrative much better.
You can find his video on RUclips by the title “Sabaton - Атака Мертвецов / The Attack of the Dead Men (Cover на русском | RADIO TAPOK)"
Don’t know if you already did, but I would suggest reacting to Father by Sabaton. It’s a really interesting story and is basically a prequel to this one.

Sabaton history - gas warfare in WW1
I didn't know this happened until I watched this episode on Sabaton history.
Some reactors do back to back reactions with song then corresponding documentary.
At your leisure check the live version from Russia featuring "Radio Tapok" who was approached by Sabaton to sing it in Russian. He released the song a day before the official release.
Looking forward to it.
Radio Tapok had previously covered several of Sabaton's songs, translated into Russian, and for this one, Sabaton reversed the playfield and let him release the cover before their official version. Sabaton later covered Radio Tapok's original "Defence of Moscow" which he created in deliberate "Sabaton style".
@@teckreactions the documentary is in 2 parts
Thank you for doing another Sabaton tune. Check out 7 Pillars of Wisdom as well. It is my favorite song from this same album
what i love about sabaton is that they have a History channel where they talk about the history of their different songs
"Facing the Led"... Led = bullets. Not sure if it should have been "lead" instead or if there are are other ways to spell it. English is not my first language.
That makes sense.
that's it. it's a typo. the band's first language isn't English either. It's a super easy mistake to overlook
@@ryantannar5301 The official lyric is correct, it's the lyric videos which are wrong. I guess the editor's first language isn't English either. 😉
You skiped 1/3 of the song lol
Where?
@@teckreactions 3:31 you went back to the start from the end of chorus and then go all the way to the solo lol
@@MAGNATEO oh dang! Yeah, I skipped about 40-ish seconds. That load bar confused me. Thanks for letting me know!
Great reaction!🤘 I didn't know this story either before I heard this song. I've learned a lot through Sabaton. Their history channel, Sabaton History on YT is an awesome way to learn more about the songs. I highly recommend it! 😊
Cool!
I recommend Fields of Verdun:)
If you don’t want to do research before a reaction, just watch the lyric video like you did for this one. Sabaton usually puts some facts on the screen for context, because they really just want to tell the story, not make fun of people for not knowing it already. P. S. I didn’t know this one and I studied history.
If you want one of the best songs by sabaton then listen to "Uprising"
The story sounds interesting but unfortunately it didn't happen. The battle for the Osowiec fortress is heavily mythologized. The fortress was on a hill so a gas attack had little effect on the defenders, they pulled out because there was a risk of encirclement.
The Germans didn't even plan to send an attack that day. They simply sent reconnaissance there and when it met resistance from the wounded soldiers left behind it withdrew. In the following days the Russians were crushed. There was no "dead man's attack" or "panic on the German side."
Interesting.
Both Germans ans Russians tried to cover this up. Gerrnans because they lost and ran away like scared kids. Russians because this was the war of the Czar ie a capitalist war that nobody in communist Soviet Russia tried to suppres all knowledge about. That the knowledge of it survived at all is amazing. This is NOT a well known story (outside of Sabaton fandom)
Regardless of the level of knowledge, be kind. This event is fairly unknown to most people, so not knowing is not a surprise. I would recommend that you check out their official Sabaton History channel epiisode for this song. Its an easy way to learn more, and also meet the band.
6 to 8 degrees before Top Dead Center 😎
Let's go!
@@teckreactions 😄😄
Fields of Verdun is a great song.
And look more into the 100 dead men the battle really isnt taught in the usa.
Definitely
React to sabaton dreadnought pls❤️❤️❤️
Рекомендую посмотреть короткометражный фильм от Wargaming. Осовец: Атака мертвецов.
Привет из России. И спасибо за интерес к группе и их творчеству.
Also facing the led is referring to the enemy troops being LED towards them "dead men"
Hey Enjoyed the reaction! I might be crazy but i think you skipped the second verse of the song.
You're not crazy. The load bar messed me up and I missed about 30 seconds of the song.
