Klaus really came around to me. I hated him at first, wanted him dead. But then i he showed his true side and how undeniably caring and loyal he was and it made me love him
I actually never minded him, even when he was terrorizing everyone on tvd at the beginning, I'm just glad they got past him screaming saying he's better than everyone- kind of liked when he helped Elena and feel like that could have been a ship in a different universe. Like finding out her blood still helps create hybrids and then helping her deal with being a vampire and showing her the darkest parts while her humanity was off and then getting stefan to join? Like Stef and Elena could turn their humanity back on and then be closer? Elena could have been a more empathetic version of Kathrine.

It’s the same way as to how he is in the books. Klaus in the books is a pure blooded vampire and he doesn’t shapeshift into his animal state because it draws upon on his true power. When he transforms he becomes a unhinged, bloodthirsty monster. Hence why we don’t witness his transformations.
