Thank you for your comment! I definitely like this style, and feel that it fits more with my personality and how I approach life (laid back, relaxed). It's slightly ironic that you left this comment when you did, since I just released my Krakow video (which I saw you also commented on) which definitely follows more of the trends for travel films: quick cuts, zoom transitions, etc. We've got at least two more upcoming films from our trip to Europe, and they will definitely be more along this style of editing than the style I used for Krakow. I'm hoping this style is appreciated by viewers. I know it's not as "cool" as the trendy editing style, but I think it can still be used to good effect to convey a sense of place and to draw the viewer in to the beauty of a location. That's my hope, at least.
Thank you! We're very happy with how it turned out, and hope to keep making films in this style. Our next one (I hope) will be Switzerland, and the music we've picked out is by this same artist, so it should have a very similar feel.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the videos you've watched. :-) Did you get my email about doing a collab? I had thought we'd be in the area this weekend, but was mistaken, but we hope to be there in 2-3 weeks.
MATT!!! This is AMAZING! What a beautiful family you have too! Miss you brother! I recently watched a video of our dance routine from the Gaming talent show. Classic :)
Awesome! So many people have so many great memories from there. I went Spring 2006, Holly went Spring 2011. We both absolutely loved it...it was home for three months, and a very good one. Have you been back to visit? This was actually my second time visiting since my Austria semester, but it was our first time visiting together, which was wonderful.
Hey Holly! Hope you’re doing good. I’ve wanted to go back to Austria since we left in May 2011. I still remember breakfast in the Mensa with you and your household sisters in TTM. No regrets! 🙂
Thanks, Melanie! It's been busy lately, so I admit I haven't watched your vlogs this month, but it's exciting that you're uploading every day. Keep it up!
I just got back from my semester and can't bring myself to finish editing the videos I filmed because that means it over! thanks for bringing me back for a few minutes :)
It is such a beautiful place to be! I was blessed to spend a semester there in 2006, my wife in 2011, and we both loved our experiences. We've also been blessed to visit again since then (including our visit in which we made this video) and I highly recommend that. I think there will always be a part of my heart in Gaming. Did I happen to run into you at all while I was there last semester? I'm Billy D'Andrea's brother-in-law, and I came to Rome/Assisi/Gaming in November to work on a video for FUS -- this video (Through Our Eyes) is actually what prompted the university hiring me to make some more videos of the Austrian program. Anyways, keep an eye out, because that video was finalized about a week ago and it should be coming out very soon!
Blue Mantle Films I think we did meet actually! They showed your film to the students going to Austria next semester but we haven’t seen it yet 😂 I’m so excited! Glad I found your channel!
Thank you. The Kartause holds a very special place in our (mine and my wife's) hearts because we both studied abroad there, and it is such a beautiful and peaceful place. We were happy to be back and to spend time there and show it to our girls.
Guten Abend, liebe Zuschauer.
Guess we’ll have to agree to disagree. I love this music. If I didn’t I wouldn’t have chosen it. But thank you for the kind words on the video! At least you were able to enjoy something about the video. :-)
That's just it...you like the music. If Blue Mantle Films is a business, it is just my opinion that the productions should have the widest possible appeal. The video quality, editing, and location choices are superior...I loved what you did in Newport, RI. But the music is...well...it's panders to the Millennial metrosexual feelings crowd, and it just sounds bad.
Except not. A great thing about doing these RUclips videos is specifically that they’re not for a client, so I can make them exactly how I want to. And the videos, overall, are better for it, because I’m not afraid to experiment and try new techniques. When I’m working on client projects I usually play it a lot safer. And then those videos are just a little more boring. You can hate the music all you want, but for these RUclips videos I’m going to continue making them the way I like them. I wish you well!
Hey, that's great. You got it all figured out. And I can hate the music; thanks for your permission. When you put your work out for the public on RUclips, you are going to have to be able to take critical comments. It seems like you have very little stomach for that by your defensive extoling of yourself..."I'm not afraid," when the videos are safer, they are "a little more boring." If you are not "afraid to experiment," don't be afraid to take critical comments. Your snowflake disposition matches your snowflake type music. And your "I wish you well" is sarcastic. Keep it to yourself. Lastly, I commented positively on that "The video quality, editing, and location choices are superior...I loved what you did in Newport, RI." But you seem to ignore that and would just rather take offense that someone does not like an aspect of your production.
@@johncoontas7212 I'll take critical comments, but I'll also defend my choices. :-) And "I wish you well" is not sarcastic. I genuinely wish you well, and wanted to keep things cordial while having a disagreement about the music choice. **Edited to add** I'll also say this: your first comment was very abrasive: "terrible music. How can anyone think that is good?" -- that sets the tone for the type of response you're going to get. If you're brazen, you'll get a brazen response, most likely. Lastly, please don't pretend that I didn't acknowledge that you did speak well of certain aspects of the video, in my first comment I said "But thank you for the kind words on the video! At least you were able to enjoy something about the video." Just because I don't acknowledge each instance of you speaking well of aspects of the video doesn't mean I don't appreciate it. Anyway, regardless of how you'll take this, I do wish you well.
Trying to upload more frequently now. Hope everyone watching this enjoys it!

Matt and Holly....Absolutely stunning video, breathtaking. A masterful piece of work. Timeless.

Those are some absolutely stunning drone shots.
LOVE the opening shot with the transitions between the feet.
0:26 so incredibly cinematic.

Was there for the pioneer semester, Fall 1991. So many memories!
