Thanks for posting, it's always a treat for me to go back in time to the 60's when I was an art student at Queens college and I would go into Manhattan to visit the art galleries. I particularly like Quentin James McCaffrey's work. They remind of of Vermeer and the paintings with the small round mirrors remind me of "The Marriage of Arnol Fini" which is one of my favorite painting. I was surprising he painted on canvas. Usually when I see detail that fine it's on gessoed Masonite.
I agree with you , there is a lot of hyperealism out there . I've already gone through my photorealism period decades ago and the work I'm doing now is more loose and painterly . More esoteric and symbolic but still experimental as well. The work in this video is very nice and I've been to a lot of these galleries in tribeca and Soho as I live in this area. I really love going to all the different galleries, walking from one to the next and reading the different art magazines . It keeps me inspired and there is so much work here in lower Manhattan to be inspired by. Thank you for a great video. ✨🙂👌
This gallery walkabout was delightful to my eyes. Thank you for this chance to explore places I can’t visit at this time. As always your voice is like a caressing sound to my ears😊
Thank you, MLB. A delightful art gallery walk and exploration in NYC. Civilized. Keep safe, and please have a much needed break. Keep safe. Jones. P.S. McCaffrey 's work Bravo.
Thank you so much for posting this. McCaffrey’s work is outstanding. Your videos always make me wish I lived in New York, but alas, I guess San Francisco will have to do for now.
I swear that Mary is my favorite part of contemporary and modern art, she's the only thing that doesn't hurt my eyeballs in those galleries with glaring white walls and a few dinky low effort paintings - when something with a little talent appears she lights up!
The Quentin McCaffrey… are so intriguing… and fresh I find. I s that what you found in person? They are dark color tone in video but seem to have a lightheartedness.
4:07 (Anthony Iocono) 'these new, intricate painted collages, tell a story of his experiences bird watching'? 12:53 (Henry Gunderson) a discernible reference to the Zabriskie Point explosion scene.
Can anyone tell me if the art world is completely shut down now in July in NY? I am hoping to visit galleries but don't want to come if the galleries are closing for the summer?

The artist as unique individual is just so pretentious and boring. The continual psychological profiling of artists is an extension of our own narcissism and a justification of it.
@@stuartwray6175 I'm not angry. Why would I be angry? It sounds like you're HURT by my objective criticism. All the colors are HORRID, there is no integration of colors, composition is HORRIBLE. I saw one painting that showed the artist clearly had no conception at all regarding how to treat lighting. If this is the state of contemporary art....... I actually have two friends who studied painting at Yale. One got an undergrad degree in painting there, and then got a grad degree elsewhere. He teaches painting at a very good university. The other got a masters in painting at Yale. They both told me that art schools today don't teach anything about classical principles of geometry and relation to the frame. They themselves knew nothing about this. Yet this is one of the things that defines the work of masters like Picasso and Dali. It's horrible.
MCCRAFFREY!!!!!! WOW!!!!!! how talented is he!!!!!!! i would buy all of them!!!

You make NYC look appealing warts and all. But I like the way you show the art without the shaking of the camera.
Hey Mary Great job !!!! Thank you from Long Island
I have been watching Mary Lynn's channel for 2 years and it still is wonderful, exciting, and so cultural!!! Voila ' C'est Bon, Vous adore 💎👑💛💛💛🌅💥

I must say, the coffee shop was most impressive.
McCaffrey’s work! Fabulous. Thank you for the introduction.
Alessi: love! Thanks for this!
Some really interesting works this week. Thank you for taking the time to show us.

You are a wonder, how you can stand looking at that talentless messes hanging on so many of the walls...... I salute you.
'that talentless messes' ? ... 'hanging on so many of the walls' - not the walls in their entirety?
Lady you have a beautiful eye.🎉
I enjoyed your presentation....so maybe the work was cooled down a bit, relative from what we've experienced before. Thanks !!!!
People like the first artist will legit make anything and it will end up in a gallery 😂😂😭
It's embarrassing.

Everlasting life is such an abstract concept: as is God.
"Without the sexism and objectification" - psssss..... Inane.
Glas isn´t the problem. Cheap glas is. And annoying AF
Depressing.
Why?
You’re too close to your microphone or something. You can hear the saliva in your mouth while you talk. It’s not pleasant to listen to.

Harsh
👎🏾
Artists come in all shapes and sizes as personalities just like everyone else. Sorry to spoil that for you.
@@alphajava761 how original ... that doesn't address the issue
'The continuing psychological profiling of artists' - was that emphasised here?
Это не искусство, а кусок говна, выдаваемый за искусство.
Your angry.
Horrid stuff, all of it.
Oh, the anger and exasperation.
