I'm sadly not surprised considering the Washington... "Football Team" considered keeping THAT name when breaking down potential naming ideas. Creativity is dead. They saved themselves from being that dumb, but for at least considering keeping "Football Team", yeah, creativity is dead. So, for the Utah "Hockey Club" to consider that as a finalist for fans to pick is dangerously stupid, but nothing surprises me anymore.

The logo for [ Utah Hockey Club ] could be a legal document, say a nondescript sheet of paper with a lawyer's signature at the bottom. It could be yellowed with age to give it some character. The name must ALWAYS be in brackets...perhaps slightly tilted, with the font resembling that from a 1940's typewriter.

As far as other teams using the name Outlaws. There isn't a team in the NBA, MLB, NFL, MLS or any 'major' top tier professional sport that use the name Outlaws. Some names that DO have multiple teams attached to them: Panthers, Cardinals, Giants, Jets, Kings, Rangers... The argument that Outlaws is a bad choice because other teams use the name Outlaws (whatever league those teams are part of) doesn't hold water....at all.

Hockey Club is NOT A NAME. In football/soccer, the 'Football Club' or 'Association Football Club' is a generic marker that EVERY CLUB HAS. They all have actual real nicknames that fans use. It would be absolutely bizarre to take a generic marker as a name because European soccer is cool and you misunderstand what 'F.C.' and 'A.F.C.' represent or how common they are.

Quit harping on Yeti. Utah Hockey Club as a permanent name sucks. The answer is Mammoth(s). It’s Mammoth(s). There’s real relevance to the State with Mammoth(s), it fits the winter theme and colors, and outside of the Toronto Raptors in the NBA, there isn’t any other team that really uses an extinct animal as a mascot in the 4 major sports leagues, so it’s unique. You can say “Herd of Mammoths” or “Herd of Mammoth”. It works. It should be the name, and it has a lot of support here in Utah. There is also an early member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon Church) who was named an outlaw, who has almost a mythical reputation- Porter Rockwell.
