Wow, that dry stone arch is absolutely bang on perfect. So perfectly smooth and straight. Over 150 years old and not a single stone is out of place. Not even a mm. I find it hard to believe that it hasn't had any repairs done to it in all that time.

Once again, another interesting mine. To produce an archway, just by candlelight is so amazing, pity not any real artefacts, but colour is vibrant. Thanks guys!

That delaminating wall is a bit of a worry! If Ioan says not to hang around, when he is usually so cool, I would be long gone! That archway is so beautifully done. Intriguing mine.

I've seen dry stone portals before, but this is the first time i've seen one so long. Really beautifully made too, you can see that the stone master was quite adept at their work.

Silly question. If the miners wanted to take a break, have lunch etc. Did they sit down anywhere or did they walk all the way out of the mine to do so ?
Thank you for sharing your adventures and knowledge with us. ❤

Stumbled in from America 🙂 is this considered “Cribbing”? The miners would/will stack stone in the mines here and that’s what it’s called. Curious if terminology is similar. Thanks

That's amazing! I live in western Canada and we have lots of mines here, but nothing like this. You all are so lucky to have access to this location! That entrance is impressive with how much time has passed and how well its still holding together. Love the vids!
