The respect you all show for these mines and their history is really great. No trophy hunting, just archiving and recording.

I saw that Jason, from Mt Baker mining and metals is touring Europe. It would be amazing if you could invite him over to a Welsh mine! I'm sure he would be in ore of the old stuff. 😂

have to say this is the most interesting mine you have been down recently, and wonder and suspect the groove in the wheel is wear on it through use rather than anything to locate it on the rail

will never cease to amaze me how well iron and steel preserves in cold wet muddy conditions.

There are some incredible films of WW2 tanks being recovered from bogs, we're the lack of oxygen and cold temperatures have kept them in almost working order. Very interesting.

Those "roots" look like the rhizomorphs "boot laces" of honey fungus (Armillaria mellea). It will most probably be growing from infected timbers brought into the mine.

The groove in that lone cart wheel against the wall you mentioned isn't it just wear marks???

Adits were built to drain water. Anything that was drilled to remove ore was a drive not an adit. From an ex tin miner.
