  • Jay Siemens and Josh Mcfaddin go back to the basics and head out shore fishing on the beaches of Lake Winnipeg in search of Channel Catfish And Freshwater Drum. While these aren't fish aren’t generally associated with table-fare in Manitoba, Josh is here to change that conversation. The trip is wrapped up trying to find a trophy sized Catfish on the mighty Red River of Manitoba.

I catch a ton of Walleye and big pike on Lesser Slave Lake, and others in the area that are similar. Long, shallow, rocky shores... wading and fan casting miles of water with long steelhead rods. There's a ton of bait in shallow, so even in the heat of summer big fish will still show up for a feed. I've tried it in other waters for other species, and as long as there is enough fishable shore I always catch fish. The more I do it, the better it works, and the less my boat gets used.
