I missed out on a huge motor a couple of years ago, the demolition crew wanted £500 for it, I stood my ground at £250 but they declined and took it in as scrap, it turned out it had aluminium windings and they only got £125 for it! Learnt something that day.
With that being said, you've made a good decision to don't buy it. You didn't lose any money, but you gained something more important, wisdom ! I've also learned something, bigger the motor, less copper inside. Thank you 👍😉🚀
You did much better than I thought you would. I thought your buy price was pricey, but you were savvy enough to find a motor with really fat windings. I am completely surprised you got $230 for the steel. That's a stunner. I also think your gantry was at peak capacity, just be careful, that much weight can fracture a leg or foot without even breathing hard. I don't mean to be overly critical, bro. Congrats overall!
When I buy big motors like this I try to pick the oldest, tend to have a better copper yield. And about gantry you are right unfortunately it is at peak capacity, I'm working on It to do some upgrades 👍. And "overall" your comment made my day brother, thank you very much 🙏. Feel free to stay around so we can change opinions from time to time 👍😉🚀

I'm sorry about this buddy, English is not my maternal language but I promise you I can speak and write fluently in English. From a small kid I was attracted by these language. M8 time stamp 07:00 using a speed wrench did make a lot of difference , because using a grinder on cast iron would not have worked . I like to use diablo blades ; they're a bit expensive , but I get more than 1 use out of them. Cheers on your success . Keep up the good work. God bless y'all and Merry Christmas to you and all your loved ones
Score the length of the cast case with gas power concrete saw (metal cutting blade) score deep on one edge, use splitting wedge and case will pop open, less shrapnel 7:59
Good job thanks for the video,In Florida for 96.20 pounds of copper($4.12 a pound) you get $397.3 plus $230 for the steel total $627- $500 cost of the motor $127 menos gas, lunch, beer 🍺 lol😂 better to repair the motor you can get more profit but more work.
Oooo I like your point of view, you value time more than money, ok! I always try to do that, to extract the most value with the lowest amount of time. $430 profit ÷ 10 hours of work= $43 approx Thank you and please consider staying around 👍😉🚀
Good Video, well Done 🧲

My scale is in kg, so the weight of the copper is 96.20 kg.That means 212 pounds of copper 👍 . I'm glad that you liked it 👍😉🚀
thats not 230 worth steel. steel is 100 for 1 ton. silicon steel? not sure.
My scrap yard pays me 0.25 cents per kg and the total weight of the steel is 890 Kg.
hi . sometimes motor repair is difficult. those plastic winding decay.
@@ElectronicWasteExplorers woah. 2000lbs of steel. amazing!!!!!! good work!
Do they take the motors apart at the scrap yard?
I'm sure they do not, they fill containers and sell them as is.
Why not. Larger scale
How long did it take you from picking it up then weighing it just wondering
From the time of pick up until full dismantle and full copper recovery approx 10 hours.👍😉🚀
2 Question, what have you pay for this Motor, and what have you became after
I paid 0.50 cents per kg and the total weight of the motor was 986 Kg. I recovered resalable metals worth approx 930 $.
Thank you 👍😉🚀
