Matt - thanks as always for the timely review. You know what the audience wants now.. a comparison and your take on the Armstrong ML vs the Super K. These two, at least for me, are the best Midlength boards right now but it is tough to understand when and where one is better than the other… thank you

This was from another comment on this thread and it should answer what you are looking for. Feel free to call the shop and we can help dial in what is right for you based on what is in your quiver and where you are riding.
Pros of the KT Super K is that they have a touch more stability for on water take off so the 80L Super K is similar stability to the 85L Midlength. The Armstrong is lighter and stiffer with their dual carbon stringer, carbon inegra sandwich construction so it pumps better and initiate turns quicker. The Armstrong is going to be more focused on performance and the Super K is more of a cruiser. The main reason is the Armstrong tail shape and width is narrower so you can lay the board over more with out touching down. The Super K has much longer boxes than previous version KT boards so you can use any foil on it now. Seems like the Armstrong is more focused on a cross over wing / prone / foil drive board and the Super K is more of a dedicated light air wing board that will become your daily drive because you are so stoked on how it rides. Both great but slightly different feel and ride.

    Impressed by this board’s performance!
Recently rode the 6’1” @ 80 liters, in the ocean, paired with an Armstrong performance mast, ha1080, speed 180 tail and XPS 5.3 wing. It was barely windy enough to go but the Super K made it possible.
I’m an experienced rider, 5’8” and 160 lbs and with ANY forward momentum I was able to stand on the 6’1” and pump up on to foil. The board has zero “stick” when pumping up and touching down.
Once up, the swing weight on the board was negligible and while it’s bigger than my standard wing surf board, it still ripped turns.
Coming from years on Armstrong FG gear, I’d recommend mounting the mast way forward in the track.
This board is great for light wind surf sessions. Big enough to stand on and get going but light and nimble enough to still rip waves.
This board changed a day from wishing for just a bit more wind to getting waves and having a blast.
No issues mounting the mast with the deeper track and Armstrong performance mast and hardware

Excellent review. Primarily for winging and looking at the KT range, which would you lean toward for someone coming from a windsurfing/surfing background with a little e-foil experience? 80kg for use in extremely light lake wind of 7-10kts. It seems like this board would be excellent in light wind conditions. How would it act as a SUP on days where the wind just isn’t there. Any particular board/s you might consider as another option, like the KT Surf? Thanks!

Armstrong is faster off the water and has much longer mast tracks. On take off, the ML tracks very straight and is a thicker not so great on nuclear days. Super K is a bit more responsive and seems to carve better. It is a little slower of the water but you can turn pump the Super K upwind as you take off. It is more of a dedicated wing board. I don’t like the rubber pad on the Super K basically rubs off and polishes your knee of any hairs. But you get over it its a great board i suppose this and the ML you can down size your wing .5m on any given day. I have gotten to a point where I need to bring the mast more forward than the tracks allow. So maybe it is time to also get an Armstrong ML put my mast to 11 or 12? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Great feedback. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like you are riding a pretty performance foil with a small tail to be riding it that far forward in the boxes. The great thing about the FG is that you can move the mast really far forward if you need it.

the foot strap front postition seems further back on the KT than lets say on the armie midlenght. 4 me either the 55l armie midlenght or the 60 l KT are my favorites so far but have not seen any videos of the KT with frontfoot straps riding... could test the 65 armie and it was plug and play, no issue there. would also like to jump the 60l Kt.

Looks awesome! How dou you compare the bigger sizes (around 80 litres) it with the Armstrong mid length and the cabrinha swift?

I have no experience on the swift but have ridden this (Super K @80L) and the 55L and 65L Armstrong Mid-Length. I'd say that foam is your friend and it just depends on your size and wind conditions to decide on which one you could get.

Great board… but I don’t see any benefit to the step design. Having tried back to back with a flat bottom board, the ginxu was slower to release.

Great. :-) Do you think the Super K would be (as secondary usage) also work for flat water paddle up?

    • @REALmattnuzzo
      @REALmattnuzzo Месяц назад

Yes in the larger sizes people are DW foiling, sup surfing and flat water paddling up on them. You do need to be a proficient paddler to make this happen though.
