I love how respectful Cain was from day 1. Even if he didn't fully understand it, he still recognized that respecting someone's identity was important.
It says a lot how Cain is the one trying to understand and actually being okay with the sudden transition. I get that she's his mum, it was all so last minute and the way he came out was just awful, but I totally love and respect Cain here.
I think that when she talked about The Farm, she was referring to Andy and Robert who found their own path as well. Even Jack was a Writer before returning to The Village in 1972 as a full fledged Farmer.
She’s known him a girl since he was born so it’s her being surprised. It’s hard when your supposed to just except somebody you’ve known for years just be someone completely different. Just going to need some time, she’s going to slip up his pronouns Hannah was she ever known.
