I taught for 3 years then took a break when I had my first child. It has been great!!! Highly recommend it. I ’m returning to the classroom this fall. Hopefully 2022/20223 will be “normal” 😂

I just accepted my first teaching position as a first grade teacher. I am so excited but also nervous. What are your biggest tips for a first year teacher?

So if you got your first glasses when you were in 4th grade you would have been around 9 or 10 years old. And you started wearing contacts in 6th grade so you were then around 11 or 12 years old. As a former optician, I'm now retired, that was quite young to be wearing contacts. Were you good about taking proper care of your contacts? Many adults aren't very good with that. I know this after seeing so many patients with eye infections and eye ulcers and even one that had a blood vessel growing into thee side of her eye. All mostly due to poor care. So please understand why I'm not a big fan of contacts. There is no harm that can ever be blamed on wearing glasses. To be fair it's really not the contacts fault but rather the person wearing them that is to be blamed. Contacts are really only meant to be wore for between 10 and 12 hours a day and not more than 5 days a week. But hardly anyone does that. I was glad to hear you say you do switch to glasses in the evening which is good and you will wear glasses if your contacts are acting up or too dry. But you should probably be wearing glasses over the weekend as well. Do you mind me asking why you prefer wearing contacts when you look so nice wearing glasses. Being a teacher wearing glasses would seem almost mandatory. Back when I was in school I think ever teacher I ever had wore glasses. I just thought that when they got their teaching degree they were also fitted with glasses as the same time. I had a history teacher in high school and she was teaching in her first year. She was what we called in the day a "hottie" and she must have been out sick when she was to receive her teaching degree and glasses because she didn't wear glasses. But that ended after Christmas break when she was wearing glasses. She was doing a lot of putting on and taking off of her glasses and she admitted that she was trying to get used to wearing glasses.
Now that you're sponsored by Zinff Eyewear I'm sure they are going to be supplying you with free glasses every so often. So rather than constantly wearing contacts to school you should have enough different pairs of glasses to be able to wear different glasses quite often and maybe reducer your contact wear in half. By having several pairs of glasses is a great way to give yourself a slightly different "look" each day simply by wearing a different pair of glasses. I forgot to mention how good you look wearing glasses so don't ever claim that you don't look as good wearing glasses because that' clearly not the truth.
