    Translation:
    Uapeke o teragi
    I am filled with joy
    Kiruga i toku kaiga
    My family is my support
    Horo horo tamariki
    Children giggling and playing
    Kiruga i te piriga
    Friends and community are valuable
Ahhh ahhh i te piriga aaah i te piriga
The laughter and love of community brings joy
    Fakateretere
    Let's dance and celebrate
    Na toke raue
The beat of the music energizes us
    Toku piko ana
    My heart is dancing too
    Te naruki e
    The music moves us
    Viru viru mauay
Our bodies feel alive and free
    Taku moeana
    My dreams are coming true
    Ua kite au
I have seen the beauty of life
    Te marani au
    I am grateful
    Taku kahaiai tie
My heart is filled with love
    Uapeke O teragi
I am still filled with joy
    Kiruga I toku kaiga
My family is still my support
    Horo horo tamariki
    Children still giggling and playing
    Kiruga kiruga i te piriga
Friends and community still remain valuable
    Meaning of the song:
The lyrics to Clint Mariteragi's song "Fakateretere" speak of a nostalgic yearning for home, family, and childhood memories. The lines "Uapeke o teragi/Kiruga i toku kaiga" roughly translate to "My beloved homeland/My home where I was raised." The following lines describe children playing ("Horo horo tamariki"), with the phrase "kiruga i te piriga" repeated throughout the song. This phrase can be interpreted as a call to play or an expression of joy. Overall, "Fakateretere" is a sentimental ode to home, childhood, and the sea, written in the style of a traditional Polynesian dance. The lyrics convey a deep sense of longing and nostalgia for the singer's roots and provide an emotional connection to the islands and culture of the South Pacific.
P.S. the original singer of this song is Gabilou 🤟🏽🤙🏽

Someone posted a translation and also said apologies if not 100% accurate: -
    Blowing,
    the wind from the north
    during my sleep
    last night
    she is so pretty
    in my dreams
    I saw this beautiful girl
    my little flower
    flying in the sky
    above my homeland
    running, running,
    children
    above, above
    the earth

Since Josh is Tongan I’m assuming this is Tongan. Funny most of us do not understand the lyrics of Hawaiian music and it really doesn’t matter. The dancers tell the story.

Tahitian language. Josh is Tongan but sings in all Polynesian languages to bring unity. Polynesia is the biggest nation on earth as far as square mileage is concerned 🔺
