When they fought (alive), Madara didn't have a Rinnegan. Hashirama gained nothing from being in Edo Tensei, whereas Madara got a Rinnegan and was able to send two fucking meteors to the ground with no effort.

Not really, Madara had only 4, they where limited in range and could only fly and kick. Naruto’s clones took them on 1 v 1 no problem. While Naruto is able to create 2000 six path, kcm and sage mode amped shadow clones that can all create a giant rasengan and attack at the same time

He has the juubi because he single handedly raped naruto and sasuke. Edo Madara and Edo Hashirama stalemated on panel :/ Stop with this "holding back" fanfictions. Why?? He had no reason to let himself be restrained by the Deity Gates or nearly get sealed by Sai.
His goal was to trade places with Juubito and take Hashirama SM. And he had no way of knowing that the alliance would beat juubito, that's why he took measures into his own hands to get the SM.
He had no reason to not take the SM and move toward the other battlefield. Zetsu was a BACKUP plan lol.

It's more so implied Edo Hashirama > Edo Madara. He defeated him and immobilized him twice when Madara was trying to take his sage power.

The only thing that is supported by him instantly breaking out is Hashirama stating that "he's regaining his former strength", implying what we know in that being alive you're physically much more superior than in edo as stated by other Edo tensei shinobi and the originator of the jutsu in Tobirama also.
Madara had no reason to be captured and neither was he trying to stall for Juubito to be defeated. Hence why he thanked Naruto for saving him the trouble of fighting Juubito. Also narratively, it makes no sense for Madara to not go all out against Hashirama, the one person that gets him excited about fighting. He also literally tells Hashirama he's going to take "a chunk/piece out of him again" to get more of his power. It's also clear by the rods that Madara used his rinnegan abilities in the fight albeit even in edo with rinnegan his strongest jutsu is the perfect susano'o since he can't use limbo or the outer path.
While I wouldn't put it past Madara to entertain this, it's really out of character for him to let himself get captured and not go all out in a fight against his eternal rival. Also out of character for him to let others do things for him, he even scolded Tobirama for being a "delegator like always." Essentially it's a bit of headcanon to assume that and like I said him breaking out of the gates is literally in reference to his physical strength raising to how it was in his prime which only got further boosted by Hashirama's DNA & sage mode then adding in 1 rinnegan

Nope. Edo Madara would win if he really wanted to. He never used any Rinnegan abilities besides the Rods at the end to immobilize Hashi. Hell he never even used any Wood Style abilities. He knew Obito had lost through Black Zetsu secretly informing him what was going on (Obviously we don't see Zetsu informing him, but I can infer that because how else would Madara time that "Rinne Rebirth" perfectly?). Why would he smile after being "taken down"? He caught them all off guard and look what happened after that. Hashirama was stronger when they were alive, but definitely not as Edo.

Not really, Madara had only 4, they where limited in range and could only fly and kick. Naruto’s clones took them on 1 v 1 no problem. While Naruto is able to create 2000 six path, kcm and sage mode amped shadow clones that can all create a giant rasengan and attack at the same time

You have to consider that Madara stated he could see trough hashiramas wood clones. Maybe in the last battle, he just couldnt kill Hashirama since they are friends etc. and because he already had what he wanted (a bite of his flesh) maybe he let him stabb him, so he is "dead" and can go after his plans without beeing chased
and whoever truly believes anything after edo madara is weaker then hashirama has completly lost it, they where not even close anymore
