I remember that skate and surf! I believe alkaline trio played the MainStage before my chemical romance inside convention hall. Friday had brand new and glassjaw as headliners but glassjaw cancelled and thrice filled in. The next night was TBS/Coheed and Sunday was Alk3/MCR
Im so happy I came across this vid..Ive been looking for a good live show with songs from good mourning/maybe ill catch fire that isnt shitty quality. Thanks for the upload!
This is fucking awesome!! There's hardly any footage of them from the good mourning tour and i think it was the best record along with infirmary. I saw them at the London Astoria (r.i.p), uk in September that year with hot water music supporting them. Best time I ever saw them. Thanks for putting this gig on here. So cool
Went to a show on this run here in FL at the HOB! with my middle/highskool BFF Jared.... from RANDUMB LUCK!!!! (His buddy bailed on him so there was an extra ticket) Show changed MY LIFE!!!!!🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘🍻🍻🤩💚🧡💚🧡💚 I now have a big ALK3 logo inked on my arm I got in tour with my band!!! Life goal! ☠🖤❤🖤ALK3 4LIFE🖤❤🖤☠
This same tour in San Francisco was sold out, but we were so fucking punk, we drove all the way from Sacramento anyways. We had spent an evening about 6 months prior with Matt Skiba at Kevin Second's (of Seven Seconds fame) coffee house in Sacramento, the True Love Cafe. I wasn't even a fan at the time, just my girlfriend and her friend who stalked him, which worked in my favor, as I wasn't starstruck and could keep a conversation. He bummed cigarettes off me all night while we talked gear. Anyways, we were first in line outside the venue in SF. Matt happened to come out to the tour bus and saw us standing there. He said "What's up guys!", and we proceeded to tell him our predicament. "No problem" he says, "I'll put you on the guest list". Pow. We're in. After Alk3's set, we were having a cigarette outside when these 2 drunk broads come stumbling out of the venue, "You guys want our wristbands? They'll get you backstage". Yeah sure lady, if you say so.... After awhile we decided to go and try to get backstage. I'm getting long winded here so let me wrap it up. Backstage we ended up in a room barely bigger than a bedroom with Fat Mike and El Hefe from NOFX and Mike Durnt and Billie Joe just drinking some beers. Best night for free I ever had.
I saw matt skiba and dan andriano with alkaline trio in 1997 in the chicago area here, suburbs. They are from here too. About 15 people in attendance. Punk enough for you?

oh yeah, I think that smoothing stabilized look was done in RUclips. you're right, they had suggested some effect, the original footage was a shaky CBGB handheld disaster!
This is the RAW UNEDITED footage of the show that was filmed for the movie "Freaks Nerds & Romantics". I apologize for the audio as it was recorded on a separate device. And yes, his mic is on.
@@peterbune No need for you to apologise silly. Thank you for uploading this !! I just couldn’t hear Matt at all and was wondering if it was only a me thing.
I think the camera person needed to have been fired they kept shooting the camera in numerous different directions away from the band at some stages lol
Matt skiba was a lot better singer then lol I just don’t think his voice suits blink-182 at all he should’ve never agreed to join blink-182 when Tom DeLonge left because Matt had too deep of a voice for a band like blink-182 it’s as if he’s too good for that band and alkaline trio are better than I thought lol
This has got to be one of the best Alk3 sets to exist on all of youtube! Love this era

Pro tip : watch series at flixzone. I've been using it for watching loads of movies during the lockdown.

Derek Grant is so dynamic on those drums. The audio of the drums on this is great.
@@TheDibbsHis voice is incredible.
Oh my. Great setlist. Sundials and continental
That transition between Continental and Emma is fucking amazing.
Yes.
You're not wrong!
10/10
These guys are SO good live, some of the best shows I've ever attended... never pass up a chance!
Dimmu Borgir track to introduce a pop punk band. I dont get it. Build up to get let down.
"trouble breathing you say?" "yeah" ***doesn't play trouble breathing the whole show lmao i love you Matt Skiba!

Priceless..

29:10 the kids singing are awesome and the screams at the end of the first verse knock it outta the fuckin park. way to go guys :)
A public service, if ever there was one. 🙌🖤
those were the days, i still play their early stuff
Wish I could’ve been there. Wasn’t even alive when this shit happened but it looks epic as hell.
This is amazing to see! Thanks for sharing.
Amazing thank you so much for posting this. Sometimes therapy doesn't make sense to some lyrically.
These were the days. What happened to my life?
this band - so good.
this is great thank you for sharing!
Best Trio era!
TBH this is their best live video
Holy shit this song is heavy woah 😮 I don’t think I was expecting such a heavy song but this is alkaline trio after all
I think this is the only known live performance of Sundials.
+ShadicoTheHedgehog they closed with 97 and sundials in pontiac, mi around this time ;) it was by far still my fav show
They played "Sundials," when I seen them at the Metro, on my birthday, in, I believe, 2010.
I thought Matt was going to jump in the crowd for a second there lol he got very enthusiastic lol
Skeebs had a mean guitar tone back then
what do you think gave him the tone?
@@AndyOutbreak oh shit was it you?
@@AndyOutbreak in this video? Small room with minimal house sound, and the Les Paul
Yeah way better than the Kempers he uses these days. I get it’s easier to tour with them but damn the real amps sound so good.
MATT SKIBA LOOKS SO YOUNG.
This is forever how I will remember the Trio... Fack, where did all the years go? Shit is so lame now.
thank you
Featuring derek and bald dan. This is the greatest band ever so im allowed to poke fun.
Todd Mc Brearty its not making fun, just merely facts. He is bald so

I wonder how many people at this show thought to themselves "You know, I could really see Matt joining Blink-182 in a few years."
None
Derek grant
Fuck yeah
wow!
I had a feeling that Darren I think it is playing bass was going to sing at 30:00 minutes bluh Matt’s so much better it’s unbelievable
Matt’s eyes went almost demonic there lol
Hooray another one Matt sings haha 😂
Strange, they didn’t play This Could Be Love, Continental, All On Black...I thought they were supporting the release of Good Mourning?
Oops, they did play Continental at least,
I love radio it’s a great song woo hoo
Looks pretty stabilized for being raw and unedited
oh yeah, I think that smoothing stabilized look was done in RUclips. you're right, they had suggested some effect, the original footage was a shaky CBGB handheld disaster!
Was that opening music from one of the first few Batman movies? Sounded really familiar.

The dimmu borgir intro
Fear and Woner \m/
Right!! I was like is that dimmu?! Haha that's awesome
i bet this performance would be fantastic if I could actually hear the vocals lmfao
What’s with the zoom-ins on their heads lol
This was filmed for a movie.
I think the camera person needed to have been fired they kept shooting the camera in numerous different directions away from the band at some stages lol

my birthday....
Matt doesn’t even sound like himself in this show
Don Beck his voice was so thrashed at this point.
You can actually hear him?
Cos I got nothing 😂
Is this mic on!
Ok I don’t dislike Matt skiba haha I’ve been lying to myself all year lol
I thought Dimmu Borgir was gonna play
Wait I think the other two members of alkaline trio are called Dan and Darren if I’m not mistaken this was in 2003 so yeah I think I’m right
The drummers name is Derek....
@@papershroom9766 yeah I know that now this was 10 months ago lol 😂
To me alkaline trio are like how blink-182 would sound if they were hard rock lol
and had wayyyy better song writing lol
I greatly prefer Matt's voice to Dan's voice quite frankly I think he's a better singer but I do like Alkaline Trio
Haha what a name for a song cringe at 19:00 odd minutes lol
Another thing Matt hasn’t aged a day much he looks no different here to what he does now apart from having blonde hair now
If only Matt’s voice didn’t go ridiculously shallow haha his voice in 2003 is a damn sight deeper than it was in 2015 to present lol
He was having a lot of medical issues in this era and his voice was due to damage from pretty severe acid reflux
I’ve just realised I think I’ve heard crawl before lol
Thank fuck Matt did the song after the 30:00 minute mark haha I much prefer his voice
I swear I’ve heard sundials before lol
Matt skiba was a lot better singer then lol I just don’t think his voice suits blink-182 at all he should’ve never agreed to join blink-182 when Tom DeLonge left because Matt had too deep of a voice for a band like blink-182 it’s as if he’s too good for that band and alkaline trio are better than I thought lol
Matt’s a better singer than the guy on bass though I wish he’d stop singing his voice isn’t great
I definitely prefer Matt’s voice lol 😂
Urgh not him again their bassist has an awful voice
Urgh no Matt’s a better singer than the guy playing bass is
I love this band so much but they are not a punk band and never have been
scott wharton well that's just simply not true
Bubblegum goth, and I'm here for it.
Thank duck Matt sings this one he’s a gazillion times better than their bassist is at singing
Dan's actually got a good voice in the later albums tbh
@@dempman I actually agree with you there but I still prefer Matt’s voice
