@notformebeaky it's not about the difficulty of the craft or subject. It's about how much care you put forth and the humility this man has to admit his "amateur" mistake rather than not pointing it out in the video in which the majority of viewers would've never thought of that to have been a mistake
@notformebeaky Not rocket science but he takes pride in his craft and it shows. He isn't egotistical and admitted his mistake. That is honest work and those guys (the Golfers ) rely on perfection from him to play as well as they do.
@@ben23guzman I used to work at Dicks Sporting Goods and regripped A LOT of clubs so I immediately noticed the tape sticking out. But like you said, props to Trottie for pointing that out himself on the video.

Great video! As a club repair/builder hobbyist, the professional equipment, parts, & supplies being used are amazing! Sleeves, hot melt, snowboard epoxy...VERY cool to see behind the scenes! 👍⛳️
I worked in a golf store and assembled clubs around 14-18 years ago. It is amazing how far the technology and how quickly things can be done. It used to be 24 hours to cure epoxy before a club could be played. Now they can do it in 2.5 minutes... Amazing.
These guys were in Memphis for the St. Jude Classic one year and built me a three wood at one of the Pro shops they were visiting. One of the best clubs I've ever purchased and I still hit it great. Makes all the difference in the world.
This may be the best “how to” video regarding building a club that I have ever seen. And there are a lot of decent teachers out there. You, sir, explained all the shorthand terms. (Eg. the terms that you used to describe the weight distribution of the shaft or the clubhead). Well done!
Anyone else surprised at the 11° ? Love the knowledge and workmanship of Chris Trott, top of his game (apart from the amateurish tape sticking out bit 😉) . Fantastic content.
@@Joellillycrop I guess it all comes down to what loft/angle of attack is delivered at impact. Brysons 4.8° driver could be within 2-3° of DJ’s 11° driver at impact? Either way it just shows they’re not using the same equipment as us amatures no matter how much money we spend.
Joe MFC i never thought about it that way. Makes sense when you explain it that way. Thats always the case w professional athletes. Lebron isn’t wearing the same shoe we buy. Tiger isnt hitting the same P7TW as we are, even if we get the “tiger specs”.

@trottiegolf DUDE that was awesome. Thanks for showing us that process. I didn't know how much went into fitting a club for a tour pro. Would love to one day do something like this for myself. Keep up the good work!!!
Love the fact he noticed the little bit of tape. I saw that and thought "is he going to spot that?". Absolute professional right there and why he's top of the game.
The only "exotic" thing he did that I don't do (as an amateur club maker) was the addition of hot glue inside the head. And also, I don't have a bending jig to change the lie of the driver. He measured it and it was per Johnson's spec, so we didn't see what he'd have done if it was off. I don't have all digital, state of the art instruments, but whether swingweighting, tipping/trimming, loft and lie measurement, etc, it can all be done at a workbench in your garage. None the less, it was fun to watch. The skill he has that we didn't see exhibited here was his knowledge of fitting and what to change in a club's spec to accomplish the player's need/goal. In other words, the back and forth with the player to get to the SPEC. Seeing those done by the tour truck guys and a tour level player is REALLY fun!
Interesting! I never considered gluing the sleeve to the shaft while in the club, but I understand it for the sake of have the graphics in the right spot.
That was awesome, because I learned now why more loft is needed in the SIM heads, as they are so low spin that even someone like DJ needs an 11 loft in order to get the correct launch/spin. That's amazing, and now I know why I could not hit my 10.5 lowered by .75 degrees to 9.75 and get the spin rate up enough to carry the ball expected lengths.!!
I learned to do clubwork at the city municipal, I’m proud to say after watching this video I could do all this club work even though I learned at the budget course
I would like to say that I've done this but I will probably not be financially comfortable enough to be fitted or own new clubs in my life. I really like seeing how it is done though. Thank you for the video.
So the buttcap on the grip is 1/8" and at 5:30 he says that he needs to cut 1/8" LESS than the total length (45 3/4"). So did Dustin just get a driver that´s 1/4" longer than he ordered?
That was super cool. I build most of my own clubs and of course they are mostly TM... Some things that are really frustrating for me is that I can't get a driver head at exactly the loft I want (yes, 11 is also good for me), and because I like a 44.5" length, I cannot get the special hotmelt and different weight screws for my SIM driver. It was really nice when the Superquad etc had 4 weight screws to at least move the weight around a little more but they have gone away from that now. If you want, I can post all my specs, driver to LW and we can work on a tour van build just for me :D
Props to him calling out the tape showing...shows respect for his craft.
