"Attar" - Altai Folk Song

The Altai is a horse breed originating from the Altai Mountains in Central Asia, considered one of the oldest in Siberia, with a strong connection to the nomadic cultures of the region. Adapted to the rugged terrain, these horses have a compact build that allows them to move with agility and endurance. They are known for their endurance, agility and sure-footedness on difficult terrain, being suitable for tasks such as herding, transport and riding. Altai horses have a slightly concave head profile, a short neck, a strong back and a well-developed croup, with an average height of 13.2-13.3 hands. Their coat can be chestnut, sorrel, black, grey or mottled. Historically, they were bred not only for transport, but also for their meat, milk, fat and hair. The breed has been influenced by the extreme climate and the need to survive on continuous grazing throughout the year. Crossing Altai horses with other breeds produces larger and stronger specimens without losing the characteristics of endurance and easy handling.
