Ok, the math at the beginning was a life changer for me. Seriously. I don’t remember ever learning this kind of thing on shop class. We weren’t building six sided night lights either. 😂 but thanks! I know, sounds dumb, but this is why I love RUclips. You can learn and find out the answer to anything you need and sometimes learn something you never thought about before. Beautiful project too! Subscribing!
Very beautiful Linn! Congratulations and a hug from Brazil to you!
You are a bad ass girl. I really like the fact that your youtube channel is about doing productive things and not just stupid talk like the majority of RUclips Chanel's with young people. God bless.
Nice to see you actually create and build this rather than just down load a file and cut it on a CNC. Thumbs up!!
Looks awesome! Another variation on this might be to add rotation - either to the "globe" inside or to the whole lamp to make the "stars" move across the room (much as you were doing manually in your demos).
Nice project! I have a new grand daughter who will someday need a nightlight made by her grandpa. Thanks for the inspiration.
+Steven Rochon Thanks Steven, well if you build one, let me know how it turns out!
Nice idea slipping the bottom in masked with paper for the glue-up - have to remember that. Thanks for sharing!
Any video which starts with your "(smile with bright eyes) This is Lyn.." is the best !
Very nice work. It makes me miss my times in the wood working studio at my university. You are very articulate, thorough, and talented. Nice job. I hope to see more projects.
so peaceful to watch....love your scientific approach to your holes placement....but yes you gave me another project to think about...
This looks fab!
+Becky Stern Thanks Becky!
Not enough ladies showing their woodworking skills! Great video, project and idea! Keep up the good work!
I thought this tutorial will be of some guy..but when I found u..I was a bit surprised as normally I see ladies doing u know make up n fashion tutorials..n after seeing u..I am inspired..to be different! Thanks a lot!!
I love your projects Linn. They incorporate all the sciences of woodworking and electronics in well detailed instruction.
I'm from Germany and i Love this what you Here make.
Top ideas that you have.
That ist great and thank you vor the realy nice pictures.
Marcel
I think your work is fantastic! Thank you for teaching us.
Wonderful idea. This is now on my list of things to build this summer. 2 in fact for both my kid's rooms.
+Bryce Roebel Let me know how they turn out!
Light the way I like all the led projects !
Awesome lamp, I think I want to make a similar one, that has a Thomas the Train wrapped around the lamp shade. Probably a circular lamp shade instead. But what a neat idea, something I can put in my kid's room ! Thanks!
Now that is one creative lamp!! Simple to make and very elegant. Thank you for sharing.
Nice looking lamp! I especially like the hexagonal shape -- a nice break from the rectangles we usually see in woodworking.
That’s a lovely Lamp project. How about adding a free spinning fan to the top of the light tower, with different coloured strips of acetate hanging down? The heat from the LED lamps would slowly turn the fan and give a shimmering effect. Combine that with colour changing LEDs to really add that magical sparkle! I need to go and lie down!
This is a beautiful idea and really well made! Adding a small motar to make it turn slowly would make it a brilliant nightlight for a small child... if you could get it to turn quietly lol Brilliant/beautiful video! x
Andrew Mullinger awesome idea!!!
I think the noise from the motor would kill the idea
Yeah I think it would as well. There are plenty of low powered motors that would turn it slowly and quietly though. Just an idea
I have a massive crush on Linn... it's impacting my comprehension of the videos. I made an 8ft tall starry light
Great idea...it would look fantastic at night and I bet the mood would be very very relaxing. Well done.
+Nick Giglio Very magical :)
You are great girl. Neatness personified. I really appreciate and admire the finesse that you carry out the work with. Learning from you. Cheers.
That is very beautiful. I think I'll make one for my niece. Thank you
Beautiful!...To do the magic of slow motion, place underneath, a small motor. Thanks for sharing your work. Greetings from PR.
ALWAYS POSITIVE ENERGY !! BRAVO DARBIN.!!!
+chris charal THANK YOU!
Girl you and very talented .. you inspired a lot of people here in Brazil .
congratulations on your talent and creativity , keep it always posting sensational videos. all the best..
Really like this one. I think I will borrow it for my young daughters room. Thanks so much!
Nice Linn! great process and design.
+frank howarth maybe you will be inspired to make a segmented and turned lamp in this style?
+frank howarth Thanks Frank!
Amazingly clever and talented craftsman
I started thinking to build my own workshop and start DIY wood stuff .. very cool
Beautiful Projico. Thank you.
omg! you are a scientist... i never seen that many tools in one place. You are the champ girl! I like that. I will try this next weekend. I dont have that many tools to craft a masterpiece like you did but i hope it wont be bad if try with something similar. I will show you my creation soon.
Nice project! You could use one cylindrical wood in the middle, so you can wrap around one long piece of led light, this i think would be more easy and minimize connections.
+Marios Karampalis Plus, you wouldn't have to chisel out the hole in the middle. Just choose a piece of dowel and drill out with a forstner bit of the same size.
I don't know why but , I feel soo emotional after watching this.... Haha
Thank you lynn , beautiful job.
+mohammed naser Thanks Mohammed.
ur amazing .... belief or not . i liked the way how u talk and the that smile sticked on ur lips . congratulation .
thank u for ur share .

Generating random patterns is harder than one may think! good job, looks fantastic :)
+Cactus! workshop That's what I was thinking too!
I want one!
you are so talented and gifted! wow.
its fabulous! I wish if it was revolving but still its very cool.
Many thanks for the idea. I admire your creativity!
that's a bright idea Linn it looks great thanks for sharing
+Patrick's Work Shop Thanks Patrick :)
Brains Beauty and practical. The perfect woman. A few stars in the top would make it look better reflecting off the ceiling and help with any heat problems.
I love the final work and also the tools😍. Keep smiling 😀
Talk about seeing the Light! Great job & project as usual.....
Steve
Beautifully designed, Lynn. Nicely crafted!
+Dave Drapak Thanks Dave!
I really like it. It could be better with some holes on the top but its really beautiful!
that looks very peacefull to look at
Love it thank you so much for teaching us how to make this beautiful starry lamp
I was thinking that if you use a piece of large doweling and wrap the LED strip in a climbing spiral around the dowel, you won't have to chisel out a square opening, and it will reduce the soldering required, since the LEDs will be one continuous strip. Adding a dimmer would make this even cooler. Also, kudos for having the patience to create a pleasingly 'random' pattern of holes!
Thanks for the video.
I wasn't even looking for a DIY of night light, but your video caught my attention. You are very skilled. Thank you for sharing some knowledge with us :)
+Darbin Orvar I'm going to try this but make a spherical bowl on the lathe and drill the holes to an upside down bowl! Great project and video!
+Andrew Semrinec I was actually thinking about that! Should be cool, let me know how it turns out.
Amazing. I've seen some plastic shite in local stores and those were pathetic. This one is very bright and beautiful.
Great job!!! And I never get tired to admire your shop.... It's amazing! It looks so well organized, versatile and clean... You're awesome! Thanks for posting.
+Lemev Thank you so much - I really appreciate it! I love my shop too :)
Outstanding project and dig video! Thank you for sharing.
Linn, You are very creative. I hit the like button as soon as I start watching your videos. Thank You!
Good work! Love the color of the wood. Wish I had a shop like that!
This is beautiful! Gets all kinds of ideas going in my head on what we can do with the CNC machine. Thanks for sharing Linn!
+Jason Carpentier Well if you do something, let me know!
Love it.It is so beautiful, and you are so clever
Linn,
It's great to see you on youtube. I am going to show your video to my girlfriend.
Good luck and have fun making.
+James Fan Awesome! Tell her hi!
first time I encounter your work..Beautiful and masterful!
Awesome!
And this channel have the best soundtrack on woodwork channels that I ever heard!
brilliant very neat and informative tutorial , I think it's going to be more beautiful and more dreamy if you use rotary stand , all the best
First time watching your video and that night star lamp is awesome great job.
I am a huge fan of your work, you're a fantastic artist, id love to meet you one day. Very inspiring work!!
Super cool idea. Would also be awesome to use this sort of idea as a chandelier. Could build a few of the and hang them best each other at different heights to give a really cool effect.
Or even do this around the trim of a bed, would be super awesome at night, and would be an awesome night light that you could put on a timer to run from dusk until like 1am, and then to be back on when you wake up for a bit until the sun comes up.
+galamonkey Sounds cool.
Gosh.
When you cant enjoy woodcrafting because no stuff and I saw that.
I'm jealous of you !
Still give a like to keep the video arround.
Loved it all
The project .. The engineer .. The Lab
Great idea and design Linn. Just a thought that maybe you could have a revolving base under the light. Just so you can get more of a light show.
Thanks for sharing
Roy
+Roy Wrenn Thanks Roy!
im extremely amazed by your work!!
So beautiful. Wish I could own one.
That's really pretty. I admire you for your imagination, skills and knowledge.
very nice, love the finished lamp!!
Love the design well done
That was a great idea and the lamp looks awesome. I love how the "stars" are glinting into camera when you rotate the lamp.
Your work is fabulous.
the different drill bits drilling took a great time but it was really worth it
excellent, now a turn devise and it's all , my daughter will love it thanks
Beautiful lamp, Linn, very inspiring. Thanks for another great video.
+AngryWelshman Thank you!

That was really creatively and simple,. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful design Linn! I think we both share a passion for wood and lights ;)
To me it brought up an mystical Arabic feeling. They have those lights to! Awesome!
+Norner Houtbewerking I agree, the lights do feel a bit mystical and oriental. Thank you!
Amazing project, going to make today.

+Jeff Harmed Thanks Jeff!
Nice ideas!!!! greetings from Argentina!
cool idea I used the hexagonal shape newly in my products and it came so nice and sophisticated. ....
but your design is more personal and beatufiul
i used to do this a lot in 4th grade. but instead of wood i took a large tin sausage can and hammered a nail through to make some holes, then put a candle inside. did the trick
A diy girl? I loved that! Wonderfull project! Congratulations!!!
you could add a lazy susan swivel base or a small motor to move it around constantly. i think it will have a better light effect in the room.
