Each year this award recognizes an emergency medical program that has demonstrated a superior level of patient care, management prowess, quality leadership through visionary and innovative approaches, customer service, safety consciousness, community service and commitment to the medical transport community as a whole. We are pleased to acknowledge the 2017 Program of the Year is Life Link III of Minneapolis, MN.
In 1985, Life Link III formed a new organization with meaningful, measureable, and actionable dedication to the transport of the critical patient. Through the cooperation of three hospitals, a non-profit consortium was built that has endured and strengthened as a model of clinical care, customer service and industry safety. Three decades of experience has transformed this unique collaboration into a membership of nine leading healthcare systems including 16 receiving and 48 total hospitals. Life Link III is a CAMTS accredited program and serves as the exclusive air medical transport service for four NICU teams. Today, they operate nine helicopters and one fixed wing aircraft across seven bases in Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
As a leader in clinical excellence, Life Link III has implemented innovative bedside technology in the air medical setting. Flight clinicians are able to leverage data-driven information to provide seamless, optimal care from a scene incident or interfacility transport with a broad variety of medications and technology that are quickly accessible and deployed on-board the aircraft. Life Link III uses sophisticated clinical equipment including: point of care ultrasound, point of care lab testing, mechanical CPR, and advanced modes of mechanical ventilation - allowing for better care management and improved outcomes for patients.
While its business operation and clinical practice are exemplary, the most important aspect of Life Link III is its unwavering commitment to doing what’s best for the patient. The forming and continued growth of Life Link III is a great story of collaboration across competing healthcare providers to advance access to critical care. It is with our deepest appreciation and thanks that we give the 2017 Program of the Year to Life Link III.
