So great is Darbari Kanhra that Western instruments can not even dream of touching its intricacies. Shastriya Sangeet finds its pinnacle with this raag. I'm sure it descended directly from the heavans.
Ustad Amir Khan sahab takes us out of this world but I would also like to credit Surender sahab for his performance. He seemed completely immersed and on a different plane while rendering the raga. When Birju slashed the tanpura, the discordant note produced brings him back to this earth and he seems mortally wounded. Surender sahab's act as Mian Tansen adds to the singing of Amir Khan sahab.

Shirshendu Das all thanks to my parents who exposed us to Faiz Ahmad Faiz’s ghazals, Mehdi Hassan and Noor Jahans songs and film songs by Naushad Ali, SD Burman and Madan Mohan from India and Khawaja Khurshid Anwar and Sohail Rana in Pakistan. Luckily we were spared trashy 80s music by Bappi Lahiri and likes which the whole of Pakistan and India was listening to at that time.

I see all of sangeet premis (connoisseurs) adoring each other and music by forgetting their nominal boundaries to become one under such video. Especially the people of India and Pakistan. I just recognized the actor who played the role of assasin , he has also worked in and as "अंगुलीमाल". my god he is so young in this clip. we think just because the footage is black and white, those times must be boring, but as I am growing older my perspective about such matters is not the same. those grayscale cameras were cutting edge devices of their times and we can only appreciate them and be grateful that the footage has survived.
