How much would R&D improve if silencers were removed from NFA and treated like either normal firearms, or just as a piece of metal tubing? Would we be 100 years further along?
@@Landoftheignorant hard to speculate for sure. I think a lot of gun owners can afford and like silencers however, they don't want to go through the process and play the crazy tax. Especially for something that you should be able to have being a legal gun owner. So not having to pay an extra 200 bucks for literally nothing and having to wait months for it. That would be a massive help to manufacturers and customers alike.
Amen. What’s the pint of having a gun that won’t go through a canvas jacket. I think there are too many people watching people flex small guns and not watching ballistic videos and actually shooting subs with cans and realizing what the holdover is with subs + can at 15 yards. Never mind the velocity and impact on target.
@TMJ937 I do have a brush for the barrel. I've owned this gun since it came out (I have version 1 with the first Glock lower) and have never cleaned it
We’ve had a few integrally suppressed rifles at the range over the last year. The noise reduction wasn’t any more impressive from these than our regular muzzle mounted suppressors. And we didn’t see any of the internally suppressed rifles that could put up a decent shot group when compared to our Fixes with Trash Pandas or Thunder Chickens. The integrally suppressed rifles were cool and fun on the range, but we wouldn’t want one in the field.
Why ported or 9mm? There are more options. Integral does not mean all ammo types need to be slowed down. Super stays super and subs stay subs. “You” get to decide what you want. You reacted to the question from Jason / Clint in the classic firearms shop tour, it looked like you were thinking about it? (About 47 minutes in the tour) Don’t know about the US but here in The Netherlands I can’t own a silencer (yet). But if its part of the weapon all is good. They might object to it but it is legal. Just do it Kevin 💪🏼
I mean for a M45/S&W 76/Stemple/M3 almost all of the cans were integral because the barrel nut was the mount and could swap to a standard barrel and barrel nut in a few seconds. If they weren’t, you have to either deal with a suppressed 9mm subgun that’d be as long as a battle rifle, or have a 2” threaded barrel.
Thats a nice thought and all but Kevin literally said in a recent video with Classic Firearms that his main goal is to make the most effective and efficient weapons for military and law enforcement. He just sells to people because he believes we should be able to have the same things the government has.
You know we are waiting and expecting someone like Q LLC to evolve and innovate this old integral silencers tech to new levels; you know, and we know you have the engineering power to do it too! Make the SBR short again...cuz why not? #SlimChicken (free name) but all Cock! LOL
@@z987k With all the new 3D printing tech plus 5 axis CNC one would think it has never been easier to correct all their short comings to maximize the obvious advantage...?
@@z987k Overall length and center of gravity too. Thought that was the main point of an SBR....short, no? Current suppressors negatively impact them not being short after you install one on the end of a rifle. Sorry...I thought is was obvious...my bad man. I was thinking like a truck gun, shooting from inside or struggling to get in and out...and of course CQB house clearing.
@@sickjohnson So I looked at integrals for awhile, and I found that they also have minimum barrel lengths, at least in rifle cartridges. Turns out that after you factor that, you end up with the same length gun as with a screw on. The only advantage I can see is having a SBR length barrel with an integral gets you out of 1 stamp. But the cost of an integral barrel for center-fire rifle is a lot more than a stamp. Even if you take something like 300blk and say an 8in barrel, the integral still goes past the end of the "barrel" and ends up within an inch of a screw on.

Ehh I'm no expert but integral silencers still have a place for 9mm if you have to run NATO or any other 9mm that you don't have the luxury to choose. We can argue specifics regarding ported barrels and internal ballistic energy all day, but that's not helping either side of the argument given the topic at hand. I'm an avid follower, Kevin, but this was a...... interesting take on something very few are experts on.
@@kevinbrittingham6774 I wanted to know if it has advantages over PVD coating. Also I’m holding off on buying the Thunder Chicken because I’m hoping for a steel version. Please and thank you. 🙏🏽
@@Swissk31300BO the us army picked a B&T sub gun I believe. The “brain child” of one of the B&T guys is the integrally suppressed KH9. Which has the holes just in front of the chamber. That’s an advantage in being able to shoot any 9mm more or less subsonic . Not have to seek out 147 only. Sometimes flat point 147s don’t do well in some guns. Being able to shoot 124 blazers round nose quiet, It’s desirable? But Kevin and Q are at the cutting edge of the quietest and hardest hitting stuff out there. Both seem to know what they are doing.

They mean over bbl not integral. Like the m110 but then they don’t realize those suck too because their isn’t a huge volume bc of all the walls. Barrel silencer and all (4x) and they want to can to be skinny to fit down the handguard. And not get hot/mirage
Integral 10/22. PERFECTION. The size of a bull barrel, and doesn't get hot... Enough
It's quiet, but I feel like the intergral 10/22 needs to be cleared after every other shot. This is from personal experience with them.
Shout out to that nerd who inspired this

They aren't firearms they can't fire a bullet by themselves. And we would be much further along with better more affordable silencers.
@@jaydub308 I agree completely. I’m just curious from a manufacturer perspective how far along they think we’d be with zero red tape
