- From Wikipedia:
In a World AIDS Day benefit, the original cast of Avenue Q and the cast of a recent Broadway revival of Fiddler On The Roof presented a 10-minute performance that was essentially a spoof of Fiddler and Avenue Q called "Avenue Jew," in which Trekkie Monster played the Fiddler Theme and, at its conclusion, ate the fiddle.
"Avenue Jew" is a sort of epilogue to Fiddler.
Tevye, his wife Golde, and his two remaining unwed daughters arrive on Avenue Jew, an area inhabited by Jewish humans and puppets (the cast of Avenue Q playing Jewish versions of their usual characters, complete with Jewish American Princeton and Hanukkah Eve). Видеоклипы
"Hanukkah Eve, do you love me...?" "No."
This always cracks me up!
And she didn't say she was only kidding.
Falsettos revival
"and this is my wife, Hanukkah Eve" ok, I can't possibly be the only person who BURST OUT laughing..
Lol best part in this:
"MARRIED?! OK, I'll be brief. On the other hand, on the other hand, TRADITION, sure go ahead..."
XD Awesome.
"We all eat bagels" "we all have overbearing mothers" "we all feel persecuted" "So everyone's a little bit Jewish!"
How did everyone keep a straight face through this? I can imagine the rehearsals being nothing but pure laughter
That's what good acting is.
They need to stage a full-on version of this! I love it!
wow falsettos looks great
I was thinking the same thing, just 3 years later 🤞
I swear John Tartaglia is the cutest thing
Oh my god, I knew he looked familiar!
Damnit, those harmonies at the end of "Everyone's a Little Bit Jewish" are still some of the lushest I've heard in the last 12 years. Amazing what doubling or tripling the singers per voice part does.
As someone who's seen Avenue Q live and was in Fiddler On The Roof, I laughed so hard at everything! And the best part is: Our actor for Lazar was Bisexual, so that part had me dying!
This is better than SNL could ever do.
I honestly think this might be the best Broadway spoof/mashup ever. Literally fight me.
I shall not fight thee since thou art correct.

When Trekkie starting eating the violin my life flashed before my eyes. (I’m a violinist)
I think that's a fiddle, not a violin.
@@sha11235 Same instrument just a different style of playing.
Love it!
Brian: It reminds me of our wedding day! Hanukkah Eve, do you love me?
H.E.: No
Glad they did the "this is mine" schtick, because it always gets a laugh on stage.
For me, it's the Matchmaker segment that always put a smile on my face!
HOW DID I NOT FIND THIS SOONER WOW
There are two kinds of people in the world: people who admit to watching this 5 times in a row, and people who lie.
This is still one of the best things ever, even 15 years later!
That tears it. Avenue Q and Fiddler on the Roof are of the same continuity, and the Q crew is descended from the Jew Crew shown here.
"Hads off, jailbait! I saw him first!"
I can't XD
Actually, there's a nice double entendre there....the reference was to the Tsar, as in the leader of the country (in this case a puppet of George Bush), which is consistent with the whole "Fiddler on the Roof" theme. I'd never notice, though, that Russian Jews referring to the Czar in Yiddush as "Tsar" would also be calling him "narrow", as in narrow-minded, restrictive, etc.
Brian: Hanukkah Eve, do you love me?”
Hanukkah Eve: No.
Me: 😂
"on the other hand, on the other hand, tradition, sure go ahead" fiddler on the roof in 5 seconds
Is it just me, or did it take this long to realize that Kate Monster didn't say, "I AM!"
Same. I didn't realize it until I saw that one girl being lifted up LOL.
I'll be brief, on the other hand, on the other hand, tradition, sure go ahead. I played Tevye a few months ago... I wonder what would've happened if I did that on stage during the performance...
How does Rod manage to be my favorite every time?
BECAUSE ITS JOHN
@Colored Pencilz What is wrong with some of these fans?
I love rod and John! ❤
So real
This is extremely awesome. Since I love Avenue Q and we are doing Fiddler on the Roof for Summer Theatre. The recording quality is also great for 2004!
"no foreskin attached" hahahahahaha
eunseo the flirt i know, genital mutilation is so funny lol
John just looks so happy when he's singing about the matchmaker. XD
My favorite part
Everyone's a little but Jewish
not me
not me
I AM
This is BRILLIANT! I laughed A LOT! But the joke about the little boy being in Nine went over my head. Anyone????
Me, too.
"Do you love me?"
"No."
I laughed so hard.
This is so cute. Love the play Fiddler on the Roof and Avenue Jew.
This is an absolute TRAVESTY! >:( I mean, how DARE they put this show on for only 8 minutes instead of another full-blown musical?!
(Keep going, Avenue Q!!! XD)
Yeah!
I love Avenue Q so much!!
Bring it back please ❣️
I recently was IN the musical "Fiddler on the Roof" and this short version was SO funny! It helped "break" things up when we'd been doing all the songs for 3 months :)
"Lazar Wolf you're a Feygele?"
Effin HILARIOUS!!! Why couldn't this a whole play? I'd certainly pay to see it a few times.
I don't get it
"I'm a lonely man, Tevye!"
I never thought I'd see a crossover between two of the best musicals
Avenue Q and Fiddler on the Roof on The Lion King stage! O.o
Mildred Halprin
And now Marriage equality is a thing!
jag519 Hell yeah!
jag519 das it mane
"Thing shming." My rabbi.
Not in Russia were I assume this alternate universe takes place
@@notchuckproductions5029 haha hello from Russia :_)
But actually that's really so sad...
This performance always cheers me up.
I love it, I love it, I love it!!! Matchmaker, matchmaker! It's great! I wish I could see them in person (especially Rod!)!
Favourite thing in this universe.
This. Is literally. The BEST thing I’ve ever seen!!
Hilarious although I wish there was a little more Trekkie Monster! The funny thing is that I'm in a Broadway revue and we're doing "Tradition", "Matchmaker", and "If I were a Rich Man" in it, obviously from Fiddler. But nothing from Avenue Q, sadly. But this was hilarious! 8/10
Anthony Pecoraro 11/10*
avenue q and book of Mormon are musicals just to see how many people they can piss off
Lol!!!
No, they're satirical musicals made to poke fun at society and the way it functions. While they may be controversial, they are not made strictly to piss people off.
It’s a joke guys dang
Avenue Q is racy sure, but it’s not crude.
@@starsscapes I think if people get pissed off about this, it's their stupid problem.
God, it's been YEARS since I saw this! Still awesomely hilarious; thanks for posting!
"If I was a human" "oiiiiiiii" hahahahaha
This is my new favorite musical.
"What do ya do, with a BA in Yiddish...Who the hell majors in that?" XD
LOLOLOLOL I'm kvelling.
Have seen Avenue Q a few times and intend to see it whenever and wherever I can get to it.
I'd see Avenue Jew, too, wouldn't you?!
This is one of the best things on the internet oh my goD
I’ve watched this like 10 times in two days
Meg C I watch it 10 times an hour
Maybe this could become a full blown musical.
It is, but it's called Avenue q.
This is amazing, how did I not see this until now? :D
being a Jew myself, I found this hilarious
Two awesome musicals on "The Lion King" Stage... wow...
Lea Michelle should wear that wedding outfit in Glee. Rachel is Jewish, too.
@samiam520
I think it's Barrett Foa. He was the understudy for most of the male puppet characters starting in December 2003, so at the time of this show he did play Princeton sometimes.
@matika1000 Yes it is Lea as Shprintze. She played this role while still being in the workshops of Spring Awakening and she was a senior in High School!!!
This is THE best Easter Bonnet performance ever.
this is literally the best video ever!
What a hoot! This is so good, it seems too short. Give a "thumbs-up" if you agree!
I've watched this video twice a day for about the last week, SO FUNNY!!
4:05 I just love John and rod! ❤
"Do you love MEEEEEE?" "No." ROFL
As an Israeli Jew, idk if to be offended or happy lol
Edit: forget it! I'm super proud:) and very happy lmao! the Rodney part "no foreskin attached" got me 😂😂😂
I wonder if the pink puppet in this show was an early design concept for Kate Monster that no one could bear to throw out when they decided to make her a single-rod puppet with light brown fur.
Actually, I believe
Kate was going to be human, but they turned her into a Monster.
That's actually one of Rick's utility puppets.
Why is this the best thing ever???
Do youuuu love meeee? ..................... No
+Linfir "Do I WHAT???"
I love this clip it makes my day all the time!!!!
Hanukkah Eve 😂
I remember watching this in middle school, I don't think I got half the jokes... It's hilarious now though!
Hugh Jackman's answer: Yeah, I have.
5/5. Would watch again.
This sounds far more sinister than Avenue Q :) It's Brilliant! :)
lol couldnt stop laughing after "fauther princeton and i wana get married" "ok let me make this brief" "due to tradi- yeh what ever go ahead."
I love how Avenue Q and Fiddler on the Roof come together and at the end they shit on US conservatives and Broadway critics.
That was fantastic!! Thank you so much!!
The girl playing Bielke is Molly Ephriam of Into The Woods 2002!
Wonder how Hugh Jackman, Melanie Griffith, and Nathan Lane felt about their names being in this?
@reelirishboy5 Yes. She was in Fiddler at the time. She was also in the workshops for Spring Awakening!
"Do you love me?"
"No."
BEST PART!
4/10 not enough trekkie
tiggle5485 there’s never enough trekkie 😂
how in the world did i not find this earlier...
idk why on earth this happened but i'm glad it exists
It was to raise money for an aids Charity.
This was great! And they mentioned Idina in Wicked!
"Do you love me?" "No" I was dying after this
I wish the people who complain about black Hermione would listen to that last song.
LadyEvilest i saw her perform and she was unreal!!!! So talented
I bought the Avenue Q soundtrack because of this mashup.
For the record, the benefit was the Easter Bonnet Competition in support of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids.
"Do you loooove me?"
"...No"
@antsamthompson9 oh and here is the list of puppeteers
Rick Lyon-Nicky/Trekkie/Bear (understudy Martin P. Robinson)
Stephanie D'Abruzzo-Kate Monster (understudy Leslie Carrarra-Rudolph)
John Tartaglia-Princeton/Rod (u/s Matt Vogel,David Rudman)
Jen Barnhart-Ms.T/Bear (u/s Pam Arciero)
what do you think?
That would seriously be like the funniest musical ever!!!
The on person who dislikes this has never lived on Avenue Jew.
Trekkie eats the violin! :)
I love this clip. :-)
Amazing what Avenue Q can do! This make me cry with funny.
Wait no now I ship Lazar Wolf and Rod
SHIT INSTANT-OTP
the girl in the orange/brownish outfit is lea michele
