    Well, one of our girls was the first to get sour crop. I noticed it right from the start. I quickly started researching and your video was the first to catch my interest and everything you mention makes sense so we immediately isolated her and started the yogurt treatment and hydro-hen in her water. In less than 6 hours we noticed complete positive results in her behavior. Actually pooped and was looking for more yogurt. I added a dozen black fly larva and she gobbled them down with more yogurt. Her crop was completely normal the next morning. She had watery poop with some undigested scratch. Day 2 - she is ready to get out and explore however we are thinking about leaving her in the 2nd coop by herself until she is eating the feed and her poop becomes normal. Thank you for your experience and glad your video was there. I'm a subscriber!!!!! From middle TN.

    I just lost an older hen to this. The other channels I watched lost their hens, using acv &/or colloidal silver, or Epsom salts in water. I believe mine had already aspirated that nastiness into her lungs before I discovered her, as she has liquidy raspy breathing right from hour one. Your treatment makes wày more sense & you are the first whose hen survived. Saving this & adding the treatment recipe to my notebook for sure. Thank you so much! Blessings from NW Florida!

      So sorry your hen didn't make it. We had one with raspy breathing earlier this year we had to cull. Glad you found our video helpful!

    I just have to Thank You Soooo Much!! This Video literally saved our Blondie's life 2hrs ago! She went to the Vet with an impacted crop, on the last day of antibiotics she literally went limp with flailing neck gasping for air. We did this maneuver and she is now breathing well, standing and just drank water. We took her off food & vet said to continue Reglan which helps the crop empty. I'm getting yogurt now but I did get miconazole cream before the vet & he said don't use it. Guess I should have for prevention. I also had probiotics from Durvet in her water but when she insisted on going outside with her sisters I stopped it on day 5. Lesson learned & I hope our Blondie makes a full recovery but we will keep her in the garage for a few days
    THANK YOU AGAIN!!!❤❤❤❤

    Had a hen hit with it recently. She wound up dropping 3 or 4 eggs without shells in one setting and stopped laying for at least 3 weeks. But at the same time I was watching the hen one day to see how she was doing and another hen hopped up on top of their 5 gallon water bucket, leaned over pointing her head to the ground almost in a full vertical position and drained her crop. I remember well thinking, so much for chickens can't do that. lol
    I think it should prolly be changed to some or most chickens can't do that. lol

    I did use fresh minced garlic water and greek yogurt. I didn't do the vomiting.I did the garlic water alone for 3 days to make sure her food moved down. It did, then added the yogurt. Did it for a week long. I'm still keeping an eye on her. Seems to be working

    Did she recover? I’m dealing with two hens. One is much better, the other one I can still feel the grains in her crop. My next step is the surgery🤦‍♀️. I bought the kits for that today!

    When you turn them upside down, any pointers to keeping them from asphyxiation on their vom?

    • @gkarenstratton
      @gkarenstratton Год назад +17

      Everywhere else I've read ir watched (including large-scale chicken farmers) said NOT to turn them upside down ... Just massage that crop (maybe not that vigorously) and bend the bird forward but never upside down bcz of the danger of asphyxiation.

    How often do you need to help them vomit? We have done it once but 2 hours later it seems full again, she is eating the yogurt and we did apple cider vinegar in her water.

      We are not veterinarians nor have we seen your hen, but it's possible it wasn't caught in time and it was already too late when you began efforts. Sour crop is difficult to catch and treat. So sorry you lost your bird 😞

      NO, that will increase chance of asphyxiation...bend forward and massage crop.
