Intervista a Luca Finardi, GM del Mandarin Oriental, Milan e Vice President Operations Italy

“Il mio è stato davvero un viaggio appassionante perché nel 2005 mi sono trovato in una situazione che non avrei mai potuto immaginare. Avevo iniziato a lavorare all’Helvetia & Bristol di Firenze, come Resident Manager. Un mese dopo il GM in carica ha ottenuto un incarico molto importante all’interno dello stesso gruppo e mi hanno chiesto se me la sentivo di prendere in carico un albergo 5 stelle nel centro di Firenze. Mi sono “buttato” in maniera incosciente ma è proprio questo secondo me che ha fatto la differenza nella mia carriera.
A volte bisogna vedere le occasioni, buttarsi e avere un po’ di coraggio”.
La passione di Luca Finardi per il mondo dell’ospitalità nasce in tenera età tra le mura dell’hotel di proprietà della nonna. Poi la decisione di intraprendere questa carriera, dal gradino più basso. Da portiere di notte di un 3 stelle a più giovane Direttore d’albergo in Europa, quando nel 2005 a soli 32 anni prende le redini dell’Helvetia & Bristol di Firenze.
Dal 2014 è GM del Mandarin Oriental, Milan e Vice President delle operations del brand in Italia.
“Mine was an exciting journey, because in 2005 I really found myself in a situation that I would have never expected. I had just entered to work at the Helvetia & Bristol in Florence, as Resident Manager. A month later the GM got a very important job opportunity within the same group and they asked me if I felt like taking charge of a five-star hotel in the center of Florence. I really threw myself into this new chapter unconsciously but I think that this made the difference in my career.
Sometimes you need to know how to take chances, throw yourself in and have a little courage”.
Luca Finardi discovered his passion for the world of hospitality when he was just a child within the walls of the hotel owned by his grandmother. Then the decision to undertake this career, from the lowest step. From being a night porter of a 3-star hotel to becoming the youngest GM in Europe, when in 2005, at only 32, he took over the reins of Helvetia & Bristol in Florence.
Since 2014 he has been General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Milan and Vice President of the brand's operations in Italy.
