Thanks all for watching! What do you think of the new s70?
Hey David. Had my first golf lesson today and had everything I needed thanks to all the information in your channel. Cheers mate!
That’s so great to hear. Thank you 😊 glad the lesson went well
Absolutely GREAT video. I have the S62 (giving it to a friend) and I just received the S70. I'm very excited and this watch. I mainly will use it for golf, but I 'll also use it for cycling running/walking. - Subscribed 🙂
Thank you 😊 much appreciated. Absolutely love this watch. More videos coming soon
Got mine today and tee off tomorrow at 8:20. Can’t wait to see this thing in action
They’re amazing
I have the EPIX and I absolutely love it! I wish mine would show the green contrast though.
Can if you have the Garmin golf subscription
Waiting on mines getting delivered tomorrow, had the s62 for three days but the amoled screen on the 70 changed it for me . Can't wait , especially after watching your review
It’s a fantastic watch! Love it 😊
Nice looking watch. I'm using an old Garmin S20 with the CT10 sensors. This is the first season using this setup. I really enjoy it. I would like to upgrade to a better watch, maybe next year.
This watch is by far the best golf watch I’ve ever used. #worthit
Great stuff man. Video quality is very nice too.
Appreciate that, thank you 😁
Thanks for this, I'd like your views on the smaller or larger screen, as in weight and comfort :)
I’ve only had the larger one but I like that.
Nice one buddy - looks sharp!
Thank you mate 😁
Hey David, You have great videos man. I have been contemplating a Garmin watch but their line up is one of the most overwhelming I have seen haha. What would you say the main differences are between the s70 and your epix?
Definitely the upgraded graphics is a massive bonus and also the usability on the golf course is you’re a golfer is by far the best.
Been loving your content for a while now. What lens are you using during the unboxing? That bokeh is so buttery!
Canon RF 50mm f1.8 STM 😊
@@davidmaxfieldgolf Thank you so much for the reply!!
I have smaller wrists so the 42mm version would work better. It looks like the 42mm has less resolution and the gps is different from the 47 mm. Combine that with no black version of the 42mm and the price is still $650 USD. you have to wonder if it works nearly as well as the 47mm.
I couldn’t imagine that it would work with less performance but good work on the research I didn’t know that about the resolution. I guess with a smaller screen it doesn’t need the same resolution to produce the same results
do you know how to use tempo training on the s70 while playing a round of golf?
Yes you can do it but you just have to keep going back out to the main screen and then back into your round again
had mine for a few rounds now. only problem I've found is it doesn't pick up small chips around the green.
You can easily add them in the app
Where's the follow up man? Really looking forward to watching more on the S70! Great video!
Coming soon!
Terrific review : thanks for that. Was wondering if the watch had any features for the driving range?
Swing tempo, and I’ll be going a video on that 😄
@@davidmaxfieldgolf Thanks for taking the time to reply and will look out for the video.
@@gwtobin56 hopefully be out in the next 2 weeks :)
I am so happy the S70 came out in a 42mm Version, the size of the Epix and the S62 was to much for my wrist.
They’ve done an incredible job at having a great offering for all people 😁
42mm doesn’t come in black? Are you sure?
@@davidmaxfieldgolf sure for central europe, maybe they offer different options in different areas of the world. In CE I can choose from black 47mm or white 42mm or grey 42mm
Which would you prefer the epix 47mm or the s70 ?
Epix Gen 2
Im looking into buying this, im also torn between this and the epix. Im looking forward to a comparison. 1 question i have though, is the s70 more comfortable than the epix 2 when playing?
The s70 is lighter that’s for sure. Comparison review coming next week 😁
@@davidmaxfieldgolf thanks David, I'll be looking forward to this review before I buy the watch 👍
@@anth1235 hopefully have it out next week
@@davidmaxfieldgolfsearching for this comparison review! Especially if you might have had the Beta update in the Epix Gen 2. Can you confirm if the Epic graphics now look like the S70? Cheers!
@@davidmaxfieldgolf Did you ever do the review Davy?
Which would you prefer epix 47mm or the s70
I actually like the epix to be honest. S70 is great but as an all rounder epix is better
I've read so many great reviews but in every case they got it loaned or for free to test....I think anyone would love anything free.. What if you paid? I can get the s62 for $485 Canadian or s70 for $935. . That's a huge disparity almost double is the s70 really worth double?
S70 I wear it every day and it doesn’t come off my wrist still
Nice one buddy
Thank you 😊
Should I upgrade from S42?
Definitely worth it. The AMOLED screens and the updated virtual caddie plus being able to have all of the elements on the watch is a game changer
I want one
They’re so good!!!
With those golf features (wind, elevation, plays like distance calculation) can’t use it in competition play.
That’s true, but it is available for practise and a very helpful feature
You should be able to put it in tournament mode and it turns all that off
@@nopressuregolf correc
$1k for a watch seems a bit high. Looks great though.
Not with everything it has in it. It’s a fitness watch. Health tracker, golf watch and an everyday watch. It’s great value
Not enough difference between the s62 to justify an extra $400
I think there’s quite a lot of difference. The AMOLED screen and the graphics alone are worth the $400 but then you also get improved Caddy and all of the elements taken into account. It’s fantastic and a massive upgrade from the s62
$90 a year for the service on top of a $700 device?
You don’t have to pay for it. That’s for the additional Garmin features like green slopes etc. a lot of what I used was all the basic included functions without the subscription
Better than the epix 2? That’s what I have now
I love my Epix Gen 2 but there are benefits. Video comparison coming soon
I returned my S70. During a golf round it was very nice, but after that it's pretty useless. Not worth the money IMO. The Garmin Golf app is absolutely terrible. Basically useless outside of being a digital scorecard. The post-round analytics is not helpful at all.
Sorry you feel that way. I’d have to disagree though. The Garmin golf app is very good and the level of detail that it gives is fantastic. Then if you get the CT10 sensors it gets even better
@@davidmaxfieldgolf Besides club distances, what data are you getting from the Garmin Golf app to help you improve your play? The CT10 sensors only automate the part where you tell Garmin which club you hit, it doesn't improve the functionality at all.
@@NoPlayJack I think you may have a bit of a miss understanding with what they CT10's do. Yes they automatically track every shot but thats a very small part of what they do. they also track your approach stats, putting stats and so much more. So if you move the pin on the watch to the back of the green and you hit your approach on the green but 40 feet away, the ct10's will be able to tell you that your proximity to hole is constantly that far away. It's fantastic. also youll get drive stats, average to par scores, you vs others in your same handicap and like a billion more features from the app. It's really incredible.
@@davidmaxfieldgolf Mate, I know the putting data is better with the sensors, but for the most part all the sensors do is make it more convenient because they automatically tell your app which club you hit. The watch senses any hit that takes place which gives you most of the same data you just said. It knows where a strike occurred because of the GPS. The sensors on the clubs don't do any of that, it just communicates to the watch/app which club made the strike. The data provided by Garmin in the app is so rudimentary compared to the advanced analytics provided by apps like Arccos or even The Grint. Have you looked at the data provided by other apps? Garmin's app is very bad in comparison.
Agree with both of you, new to golf and from my perspective the more data and the easier to use. I think when I know what I'm doing the 62 would be fine. Until then I need everything I can get.
I bought the s70 last week 47mm. Yesterday it shut off twice and went to a black screen.
Did you update the watch through Garmin express on a Desktop when you got it?
@@davidmaxfieldgolf no not yet. Ill try that next . Thanks
