Underrated for sure. Am 69, my friend John Bethell gifted me with a 4 track tape containing Mad Shadows. I've always loved it. On Apple music now. RIP John
l gota agreee with all the message so far - Mott, the most underrated band, and just bloddy A, I too saw Ian last October, phenonmenal!! Can't get enough of this track, or this album!
I bought this album when it came out. Absolutely loved it. I just downloaded it onto my Ipod a few weeks ago and it's as fresh now as when it first debuted. This is one of the most underrated bands ever. It's nice to hear something which stands the test of time so well.
I bought this album back in the day for 2 bucks, new British import foldout, outstanding then as it is now, one of their top 3 albums, saw them live at Massey Hall, just can't get enough, music that I truly miss now that music has lost its way.
@@tynebar Completely agree that music hasn't lost its way. Popular music has always been fickle and evolving into something different but great rock music is still being made it just isn't as accessible. Take Black Mountains 'wilderness heart' album for example. It got rated 8 out of 10 and described as the best rock album of 2010 that no one was going to hear.
Was one of my favorite albums too. Timeless. I had the vinyl copy in perfect condition but as usual, in time it got stolen or lost but it still is in my heart.
555 views, should be 555 million! 3 perfect comments below, nice to see there is still respect for this GREAT band and GREAT album...at 62 years old I still play it to death...and there is not a finer version of Sweet Jane that Motts.....Mott is a passion!
My favorite Mott album even though the group don't like it. Saw every tour they did here. Fillmore East, Felt Forum every night they played on Broadway (with Queen opening up) Radio City Music Hall. Ralpher was the best. Wasn't a big fan of Bender. Ronson was the perfect guitarist for them. That would have been sensational if they stayed together. A album with Ronson was going to be called "Showtime" and they were going to play MSG. They were a great bunch of guys, very friendly. Miss them dearly.
This album was indirectly inspired by the French poet, and genius Charles Baudelaire, even though the time and place and settings have changed, Ian was a genius writer in his own right. That is for sure. a true Gemini.
Originally intended title was Sticky Fingers which was "nicked" by you know who on the say so of Motts manager (Stones brown nosing). Mott, in turn appropriated the mad shadows title from Stevie Winwoods album in progress.

Their finest album
Buffin's performance on this track is the best drumming I have ever heard.
For my monet, this is about as good as it gets. Among many things, I love Verden Allen's work on the organ.

Can't get enough of Ian.
hard to believe that ian will be 79 years old in june 2018!!!
@@sumocycocrazy4253 ...and will be 84 this year 2023!!! And his songwriting hasn't diminished at all... 'Bed of Roses'!
GREAT 🇩🇪
I remember buying this album and not being all that impressed. Maybe I was too young and stupid. I sold it on at a loss which proves the stupid bit.
Did you know their home town has no memorial to them although they put the town on the map in the seventies.
Ian still doing it too
