Doesn’t Erica make a great job of this so wonderfully sleepy and easy going song, with the rest of the band justa slip sliding around brilliantly.. Love this band, I could just listen all day to this all day long song. More,! Bravo!
I am from the New Orleans area and have watched them live in the French Quarter and just can't get enough of them. One other thing I love about this post. There are no negative comments and you don't see that very often.
Every time I hear this version, I cry. An incredible nugget of love lost. Besides this great rendition, thank you again Shay and band, for uncovering this, and SO many other beautiful works that otherwise would have been left lost. Keep breathing new life into great material.
Shaye is such a cool band leader. Always calm and relaxed even when giving her cues! A first time audience member wouldn't notice that she is their maestro
WHAT A CHARMING SONG, DONE RIGHT WITH ERIKA. THE SHREWDEST THING SHAYE DOES, IS TO FEATURE SOLOS WITH DIFFERENT PEOPLE OF THE BAND, ALL SO TALENTED.. I'VE WATCHED U 100'S & 100'S OF TIMES, & I STILL NEED MORE, IT'S MY OXYCODONE..
So has the lovely, extremely talented Shaye. Two beautiful, talented ladies that compliment an incredibly gifted band of young musicians, who bring much joy to so many Earthlings.
Tuba Skinny has truly become the spirit of south and captivates the soul of the performers and the music they play. True professional calibre and appreciated by all of us as musicians.
Absolutely fabulous band, have watched many performances and none disappoint. I'm an old man now and still play blues guitar, as such my appreciation of this group is high. They all play their instruments so well, and Erika's voice is enchanting...it's like listening to blues/jazz of yesteryear on 78 record disc. It is magical, enchanting and haunting. Indeed the whole band conjures up that same feel, makes you want to lay back with a beer and ciggies and enjoy. Wish I were in New Orleans to see you for real, not back in U K. Brilliant.
The cornet player has a lot of soul in her playing, and so does the singer in her singing. The lady and the guy in the black glasses are definitely way beyond married, as married as can be. This is a little spot in Heaven that no one can take away. Thanks for posting.
because the media have all but stopped playing this music. i have been playing over 50yr.......used to make money, was in demand....as a better musician now the money we get....i mean traditional jazz not traddie tune players......is so much less than the one or two chord pickers and nasal moaners
If the last sounds I hear in my life is Ericka singing with Shaye and this band I will go easier to be sure. Ericka is heaven sent and Shaye is a musical genus. Thank you
So refreshing to see artists who don’t play silly games to attract attention. With their talent and their craft they don’t need to, to be appreciated. The paradox being, with internet, we share the intimacy of them playing in warm, modestly sized places. Probably there was a time where more people were adept playing instruments and that feeling was not so rare. I don’t like to dance but if I am lucky to see them in the flesh, I probably would. This is telling how literally moving they are,

TS hitting new heights with this superb performance. I love the little glance Erik gives to Shaye seeking a reaction as she finishes singing. But Shaye isn’t looking!
Erika Lewis using her 'plain blues voice', and Shae Cohn on cornet directing the changes-what could go wrong! The answer is, simply NOTHING!. No matter the genre' or the situation, Tuba Skinny delivers. I would like to see more of Shae on piano(as I have), but that would detract from her excellent horn performances. I just look forward to seeing them again.
Love to watch and listen to the fabulous Tuba Skinny. Simply brilliant jazz band. Come over to Liverpool in ‘Little Old England’, you’ll love it and so will we !
I wish they had a t.v. special. They are so professional. Each person is great on their instrument. What a joy to hear them play and Erika sing. AWSOME!
When we are dead and gone, this video will still exist, in all its charm and beauty and the people of 2100 will say, "Ah, how lucky they were!"
Ah,
we are just fossiled history at that moment 😃
Erika outdid herself with this song! I could listen to her for hours!❤❤
Clarinet is so beautiful
That's the 'natural' America as I love it. Applause from Europe !
Erika sings like an Angel
That's no surprise. Erika is an Angel
Erika Lewis' vocal was even more beautiful than usual here. What an excellent singer.
... agree .....she seems to be holding back..... somewhat subdued .... but relaxed and in complete control ....😎
Erika certainly has a gift, exceptional voice and talent......very very impressive!
Robbinson Hatol - she rarely sang that night. She was getting over a cold, so it was even more special every time she sang.
I absolutely love her vocal Style. Just amazing everything she sings
When she is playing on the street with no microphone, That's when she really shines. Big time! ruclips.net/video/3XCUpO8LGqU/видео.html
Absolutely love Erica's voice ,this is one of her most beautiful songs, I could listen to her all day.❤
Tuba sounds great too, perfect timing.
The bets Song .. Erika I❤
Just. Simply. Magnificent.
What a wonderful sounding ensemble, and the guy on the clarinet is mesmerizing.
Craig Flory
She plays the trumpet like an Angel
Cornet excellence.
Exquisite clarinet compliments her voice so well
This should go down as the most classic rendition of "Coquette," by Erika Lewis and Tuba Skinny, EVER! 5 Stars! *****
Erica truly has a magical voice, it is from another time long in the past.
Wow, that clarinet solo! the tone is unbelievable -- almost sounds like Coleman Hawkin's tenor sax -- so mellow! Love the tempo/feel.
Yes. very sensitive. truly beautiful. pity it was only a half chorus.
Yes! and on other tunes he reminds me of Pee Wee Russell.
His playing is exquisite, every time.

Wonderful solo by Craig on clarinet. They sounds here even better than usual.
Very,very good.
One in ten thousand can get that kind of easy tone out of the clarinet. Beautiful.
Holidayed in New Orleans in 2015 gutted we never saw them they are absolutely BRILLIANT.
They do everything just perfect. What a great clarinet solo, sounds just like the 20 and 30's!
Well, as I hear this again it IS "the 20's" ... all over again !
Erika's voice is the icing on the cake. love it. When she starts to sing it's like an original 100 year old recording.
i simply love this band , wish i could hear them in person.
I wish I could go live with them...
We all wish this Janey - maybe one day we shall be so lucky
Check their schedule on line. I saw them in Maine
Great music from great Southern people. Thank you 🎉❤❤

I like how the clarinetist played with a mellow tone to match the singer. Wonderful.
Superb tone on that clarinet solo

That clarinet solo at 2:28! You don't hear Craig Flory play the straight melody very often. Pure velvet and so appropriate to the mood....
Velvet was the perfect descriptive term and agree he nailed the feeling of the song! you only get that from live performances.
hawkman4828 WOW !! How beautiful was that solo ??? awesome !!
When Shaye plays you can feel how much soul goes into her horn. Great vocal by Erika.
If Louis Armstrong was a white girl...
Couldn't have phrases it better. Satchel was the man!
@@GaryAa56 Non, je dirais plutôt Bix !....
Not heard them play that before. A beautiful performance and Erika's voice is pure velvet. Wow!
A joy, Erika is wonderful of course and Craig particularly fine on this, as he often is when he stays in the lower register. Thanks, delightful!
Love you Erika!
Genuine up from the dirt gorgeous original American music. Nothing like it!
Its August 2024.. divinely brought here to find peace comfort healing love and JOY ❤️🙏❤️

Great vocal Erika ! Mellow!
How in hell does she get her voice to sound like an old 78 record? Truly extradinary! Like going back in time.
A hiss, a few pops in mono sound and we are back to this days of shellac
I love this group and adore Erika.

A stereotypical summation. No real exposure by the establishment of this genre of music. Especially here in UK
Good to see the washboard guy back in action. :)

The clarinet guy doesn't get much attention, but he makes the clarinet sound SOOOO good, yeah for him!

Wonderful, nostalgic,,,all about my recently deceased wife of 53 years David McCabe Dublin Ireland...even an Irish flag in the background
