Hi Steve, great video! Would it be possible to connect 2 beo lab 8000 to my Sony Str-dn1080 av receiver? And if so, which adapters or connectors would I need ?
Thanks! Yes, this is possible, but it is too detailed to cover in RUclips comments. Please drop me a line via the contact page at soundsheavenly.com and I can help further
That is timely for me because I’m now thinking of maybe buying a pair of 28s in a few months if my financial situation is as I hope it will be. I won’t be connecting them to a TV as I don’t have one. Initially I will use them with AirPlay 2 from my iPad playing from Apple Music and Vox Player. It is possible that at a later time I will set up a Roon network and connect the 28s to a Roon endpoint. I actually have all the Cat 6a network cable in place for that but I still have a bit more work to do with that.
Yes, that is all possible, however please only use the Cat6 cables for the network connection to your router, not for audio to the speakers. I can help with audio cables once you are ready.
@@soundsheavenly - Thank you for your response. I understand that the network cables would be no good for an audio signal. B & O do use RJ45 connectors for regular audio cables, which I think is a bit weird actually, however, as you say regular audio cables must be used.
Hi, for any connection questions, please ask at soundsheavenly.com (if you are in UK or Europe only) as this is possible but too detailed to explain in RUclips comments. Thanks.
hello Steve, can beolab 28 connect to Dj controller? and what is the best way to connect beolab 28 to DJ controller? can I use basic 3.5 mm to 2 male rca ?
Hi, you can't use the 3.5mm input of Beolab 28 with a DJ controller, as the latency is too high. If you are in United Kingdom, please email me via my website at soundsheavenly.com with details of your DJ controller and I can help with an alternative connection that will work without latency.
Hi Steve .... Why dont we have Connectors that spilt one RJ45 connector to 2 RJ45 connectors. All I see are connectors that spilt 1 RJ45 connector to TWO Din connectors. And then you are expected to use 2 cables that have Din on one end and RJ45 at the other. What is point of going to RJ45 to Din then back to RJ45. Why not just split 1 RJ45 to 2 RJ45s and be done with it.??
Hi, good question! RJ45 to twin RJ45 splitters do exist, but they aren't correctly wired or shielded for Beolab speakers, meaning they give poor results. The design of this splitter means that I can't be made by smaller factories, so changing the unsuitable wiring would need a massive order of many tens of thousands of items, which I can't stretch to!
Hi, you just need a splitter at the Core to allow two cables to link to the two speakers: soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/27-313-rj45-powerlink-compatible-splitter-new-powerlink-to-two-8-pin-din-powerlink-compatible-sockets.html#/20-length-02m
Thank you for a great video. I have Beolab 28s and a soundsend wisa transmitter connected to the HDMI E-ARC input on my Sony A90J. The Soundsend seems to work but I'm not getting any sound out of the 28s from the TV. Are you able to provide any guidance here? Thanks!
Glad you liked the video! Sorry but I have never used the Soundsend, I suggest speaking to the supplier of this device to ask for their advice on using their product.
My current Samsung TV is using a soundbar and connect via eARC HDMI. And my PS5 is connecting HDMI 2.1 to my TV. If I change my soundbar to Beolab 28, how can I connect it to my PS5 and TV?
Hi Steve. Thanks for the video. I am planning on buying some 28s soon and was mainly going to use them to listen to music and that is no problem. However, I was also planning on connecting them occasionally to my LG tv via Wisa. My tv says it supports wisa and so do the speakers. Do you think it would work?
@@soundsheavenly Steve I have a pair of 28s but they don't turn on unless I use the line-in. A signal from the optical source does not automatically turn on the 28s. Any idea how to get the 28s to turn on automatically with an optical signal?
Hi, many optical devices provide a constant output, even when nothing is playing. This causes the speaker to ignore the optical input, so the speaker will always need to be manually switched to optical via the app in this case
@@soundsheavenly this is not the case with the BeoSound Core. I use optical on it and when a signal is sent it turns on my Pentas. The Core uses the same optical input type and I tried the same source.
Sir I have one black colour beolit 17 and have just bought the white colour beolit 20 to use it in stereo through the b nd o app.it is sounding very nice in stereo but sir the sound enhancement like the party mode, ambient mode is not working when using the beolit 17 and beolit 20 in stereo.
So I bought a core and about £80 of cables connected to my Sony OLED and found that the sound is totally out of sync. Totally frustrating experience. Is there a way to solve this?
Sorry to hear that. Cables won’t makes the sound go out of sync so this is likely to be an issue with the tv or speaker settings. If the cable came from my site, please email me with your order number and I can help you to get this sorted.
@@soundsheavenly i didnt say the cables where causing the issue. I followed the suggestions here that indicated that if i bought the core and the right cables from you i wont have a sync issue using the beolab28 speakers and a TV. Yes the cables came from your site.
@@soundsheavenly okay it looks like the actual core has a built in sync settings that you can disable and adjust, i think these may solve that particular issue. Though i cant find a way to stop the speakers turning on automatically when the TV turns on, which is frustrating as i dont always want my Beolabs on when the TV is on. I cant win
ultimately I've had to give up on using the core to connect my speakers to my Sony OLED. So the issues I have run into are , I cant control the volume with the TV remote when using the core and Beolabs, you have to use the B & O app. This is annoying for many reasons i dont think i need to explain. I cant have my sound-bar plugged in at the same time as turning the TV on triggers both the sound bar and the core to activate. Of corse they are out of sync with each other, so then you have to go through the tv menus to turn one off. If the Beolabs where not activated this would have enable me to continue to use the TV normally and then use the Beolabs 28's only when i wanted to watch a film which would have potentially solved the issue of not being able to use the tv remote to control the TV volume. I cant find any way to stop the Core and Beolabs being triggered to come on when the TV is switched on. I want to have my Beolabs on to play music when i want to and the plus are all hidden behind a large cupboard anyway. When I had them connected last night the sound was amazing way way better than my sound-bar. So Unless anyone has any suggestions I need to send the Core back and look for another solution.

Hey Steve, do all mini jack connections have a delay? I'm wondering if I can connect a console to TV and use the TV optical (S/PDIF) cable output to mini jack connection on the parent 28 as hi-res stereo
Yes the Beolab 28 mini jack input has a delay for both optical and analogue audio so this cannot be used for a tv. I can help with connecting a tv via the Powerlink input, please ask at soundsheavenly.com for advice on this
Powerlink is an analogue stereo input only, it cannot provide digital sound. If you have a digital audio source (not from a TV) then you can use the optical 3.5mm input of the speakers for the digital signal.
Ive just bought a pair of 28s and because the shop owner has been away I’ve managed with the delay in sound. Question. Why should we have to pay extra on top of £11000 to get the sound to sync! Surely B and O are capable of selling speakers which work properly? Every other brand manages? I refuse to lay extra so guess they 28s will be going back.
Sorry I don’t know why the shop set up your speakers with a delay as I don’t work for B&O. However it is possible to use the speakers in sync with any tv when set up correctly
What is the point of using the Core. Beolab has all the source connections available on the Core. Including Line In/Optical that can take a signal from the TV and other sources. I dont understand what B&O Core is adding to the Set up. PowerLink??
Although Beolab 28 has an optical input, this cannot be used to connect to a TV (as explained in this video). This is why the Core is useful, as it allows for a low-latency optical input to give a connection from a non-B&O TV to the speakers, which can't be done directly.
