Russian KIA+WIA losses in conservative estimates were 40K but as more and more info came out its likely closer to 60,000+ casualties because of how many storm troopers were needed to overwhelm defenses. This means a Russian died for every 15 CENTIMETERS of Bakhmut. Do you understand that it's only the 56th largest town in Ukraine? It's a baby compared to other locations, and it crippled Wagner.

Literally every few seconds, they show us broken Russian technic, talk about monstrous losses, problems in the army, but at the same time, Russian troops are advancing and seizing territories on the map. I am Ukrainian. Here is what I can say. Yes, Ukraine loses soldiers every day and we currently have a shortage of soldiers, but Ukraine's losses are 2 times less than Russia's simply because there are more Russians and their military strategy is based on this one advantage. Only recently they stopped using armored vehicles during attacks because they are the highest priority target for drones. If it were not for Ukraine's strategy, Russia would have had much greater success than you think. In addition, on Google maps you can see how military equipment warehouses are emptying, this only means that Russia has lost almost the entire base composition that it had before February 24.

You can loose ground, but still be victorious. Lets say you lost 50 men to capture a squire kilometer of land. I lost 20 men defending the land. You lost 50 men because you needed to cross an open field to get to my trench, and you were successful only on your third attempt. I lost 20 because my men did not have to leave their trenches and when the battle was almost lost they managed to retreat. You got your pyrrhic victory, you gain something at a great loss. I got strategic victory, because you are suffering way more to attrition.

1:13:55 Pyrrhic victory? That remains to be seen, the war is far from over. The main force fighting for the russians in this battle was the Wagner group, which consisted of mercenaries and convicts. They where, as you stated in the video, expendable. Perhaps there was a tactical reason to sacrifice this force in this way, in order to gain an advantage in the long term? The russians have used the time this battle has lasted to recruit more soldiers. And they have worn down the ukrainians, and some of their equipment. The ukrainans are almost entirely dependent on the west for new equipment, weapons, amunition etc. The russians have their own production, and they have been increasing it. So it's easier for the russians to replace the losses in equipment than it is for the ukrainians. This goes for soldiers to. Obviously Russia has a larger population. It seems to me that some of the most motivated soldiers on the ukrainian side, both ukrainian and foreign in origin, have already volunteered to fight. It's an advantage for the russians in the long term that the most motivated ukrainian soldiers are killed and wounded, even if this means taking higher casualties themselves, if these casualties are mostly mercenaries and convicts. For the russian leadership it makes sense to exchange 7 convicts/mercenaries for 1 higly motivated and trained ukrainian soldier (even though i doubt the ratio was this severe in the ukrainian favour). The dead costs nothing. This is of course a highly cynical view, but this is war. The russian leadership are of course aware that the ukrainian morale is an important factor here, especially in the long term. And there seems to be cracks in morale appearing as we speak. Let's see what the mood is in Ukraine in 6 months or 1 year.

The actual choices Ukraine has at its disposal to win are pretty much nil, its best strategy is a fighting retreat making Russia pay for every meter. The strategy of Bakhmut was bad but the alternative is only relatively better. Ukraine has bad demographics but remember that, while both sides have easily lost 100k+ men respectively, Russia is destroying its economy (Ukraine's is already destroyed) for basically nothing important as Crimea is already taken. It's not a Pyrrhic victory though, no.

Okay, here we go again. I watched the animated battle of Avdiivka and got out on the other end with a feeling that Russia didn't win, it was Ukraina who lost. That's the way it was presented. All the smart moves was Ukraine, details where AFU burned Russian tanks were picked out from the story like one pick the raisins out of a cake. Russia slipped on a banana peel and happened to win. Their casualties were "staggering", AFU's 200 and 300 wasn't mentioned. But I have watched umpteenth videos and read more articles about the battle of Avdiivka from the Russian side, the Ukrainian side and third party sides so I know pretty much what kind of defeat Russia inflicted on Ukraina in Avdiivka. Let's say that it was bound to happen sooner or later. It's not that the Ukrainians lack everything in the ammo department as much as the casualties they have taken through the war. It's up towards 600 thousand men now according to official American sources. Let's compare it to the British losses in WWI. They lost 800 thousand over 4 years. Ukraine is heading in that direction faster. A modern war in Europe is not supposed to have these numbers, but there is two, perhaps three reasons for it. First, the landscape is flat. There's no protection from the drones that have been introduced. The second reason is Russia's willingness to trade land for lives. They have given up land they can't hold, but it has cost Ukraine dearly. The third resson What one can say about the AFU claim of lack of ammo, is that it's legit. But perhaps not in the decisive way it's been presented. AFU had no problems to arm a force to the teeth and send it in to Kursk. a force strategy from the Russians to inflict those numbers of dead and wounded. At some point something gotta give. The sheer number of dead AFU in Avdiivka was horrific.

@@mmdirtyworkz But at what cost? Russian central bank says that it is doomed after 2025. Ruble hit the new lows even with the aggressively restricted trade of it. Huge labor shortages, .interest rate is set to reach 25%. One thing that Ukraine has on its side is time and European money to run its military and economy. And if it means trading some land for more time, so be it. And yes, Ukraine has a corruption problem, but it is overblown by Russian propaganda machine. The corruption in Ukraine is in a major decline from the start of the war.

My only criticism of this great series is that 50% of the videos are just you saying various units names. Maybe just say “3 battalions moved in” and just show their names in the video as you do and don’t take the time to read out their names every time.

Anyway it’s not a big deal but my criticism was at least constructive, unlike 99% of the stuff we see on the internet and again, If the info is on the screen for all to see then there’s no reason to say it out loud is all I was saying. To your point which units did what, where can be very interesting indeed, but the screen could show us instead of spending so much time repeating units names over over. Also to your point I understand it isn’t really a big deal, I just felt like voicing my thought is all. :) great series!

your source is that it doesn't sound right so with no evidence Ukraine must have more loses even though the Wagner leader said he lost 20,000 men. Now Ukraine has never gave a official report on how many Ukrainians died in bakhmut so maybe it is bigger but thats just conspiracy theory reasoning not actual sources to prove a point.
