  • Antibiotics aren't an option for viral illness, but that doesn't mean there is nothing you can do 👇🏽
    C - comfort/cuddles
Lots of cuddles, a cool cloth for a hot forehead, and a nice bath for aching muscles can make a huge difference.
    H - hydration
Keeping fluids up is especially important when little ones are unwell. Opt for water or oral rehydration solutions.
If your child refuses water or oral rehydration fluids, try diluted apple juice. You can also give your child their usual milk. Do not give drinks high in sugar because they can worsen dehydration.
Know the signs of severe dehydration- link in bio for more.
    A - analgesia (pain relief)
If your little one is in pain, miserable or experiencing discomfort - give them pain relief. Giving pain relief to 'bring down' a fever isn't necessary, always focus on your child and not the number on the thermometer.
Remember to always follow dosage instructions and check the dosage every time. A tracker (or notes on your phone) can really help you keep on top of dosage times and amounts to avoid over or underdosing!
    R - rest
The best way for you to help your child recover is to let them rest, allowing their immune system to fight the illness. Don’t be concerned if your child sleeps more than usual or eats less for a few days. If this continues for an extended period, consult your doctor.
    M - monitor
While your little one is unwell, monitor their symptoms. If they get worse or aren't getting better, or you are concerned for any reason, take them to the GP.
    If any red flags show up at all, seek urgent medical attention;
    1. Abnormal or distressed breathing,
    2. Not feeding properly (babies in particular)
    3. Urine output/fewer wet nappies than usual
    4. Not alert, can’t awaken, or unable to be consoled
    5. Rash accompanied by a fever, or a non-blanching rash
    6. Babies under three months with a temperature over 38 degrees
    7. Unusual skin colour
    8. YOUR GUT INSTINCT TELLING YOU THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG
    • Remember, you know your child best.
