It's our fault as consumers for buying up every little shit nugget that fell from their asses just to have more content, including the microtransactions. If we dont have standards in what we are willing to support monetarily then how can we expect them to have standards in the product quality.
@@johnfulcher8448 well the last star wars game i played was force unleashed 2. month before release of new battlefront , i told to my friend, who was exited about it, that it would be "meh" in best case. he didnt believe me, and look where we are now. star wars game for me will always be kotor series( i have first one on my phone, some good folks ported it on android and iphone), jedi academy , and republic commando. i lost my hopes about new good SW games long ago.

We are getting a Obi wan show. Fans have been screaming for years for it. It’s almost certain a live action Ahsoka show is coming after years of wanting it. And they have cast the fan casting for her which is so so so rare. That’s fan service. The Mandalorian is beloved. Fans have been screaming for pre prequels new content for years. We are getting that. My god if fans complain non stop and even when they start to get what they want and they still complain. It’s so stupid. Open your eyes.

I just wouldn't watch the movies that are so uninspired they just rehash the original story. On the other hand the movies that followed unique expanded universe stories were ok.
Bored Again the prequels were good in their own way, people take them for granted. however, the continuation of the sky walker series was a politically correct joke with tons of questionable bullshit. at least we got the mandalorian which i really enjoy.

I’m beginning to believe that EA doesn’t realize that games actually take time to make. Pretty much all three cancelled projects were cancelled because they were going to “take too long.”
Not defending EA but anthem was a game that took 6 years to develope, it should have been canceled a long time ago to free resources to more focused projects that will eventually flourish
3 things the prequels did rather well:
1) The music was absolutely amazing.
2) The lightsaber fight scenes are still my favorites.
3) When Christian Haydensen isn't talking and just staring menacingly it really does feel unsettling. In those moments he actually seems like a sith.
Yeah. The revenge of the sith, is, imo, one of the better stars wars movies/TV shows. I would rank the movies like this:

I was a kid when those movies came out and understand why people who had come to love Star Wars for it's more serious films would have loathed him, but still, I'd trade all the Disney-Star Wars films for 1 prequel-quality Star Wars film with a Darth Jar-Jar.

Kotor 1 is still to this day one of my favorite games of all time. My number 1 and 2 is Kotor 1 and Mass Effect 2. Yes we all have our opinions on our favorite games but those stories still shine today.

It's not gonna change anything. Some other company will always find the temptation to shift their practices to ones more like EA's. Because they're very profitable under current business law.

If Respawn is given the task of making that game, it’d probably be amazing. Especially considering they made Titanfall 2 easily one of the greatest games of the decade and one of the most under appreciated ones too.
@@laserutouettal Oh man, a Republic/Imperial Commando game being made by respawn would be so good. Titanfall 2's story was phenomenal and there's a lot to work with, especially since the Clone Wars series made Delta Squad canon

DICE isnt that bad tbh.They singlehandedly saved battlefront 2 after the controversy. Plus IMO Fallen Order was pretty devoid of content and had serious pacing issues in the story.
DICE have got rid of microtransaction for Celebration edition owners and made a game that people enjoy.
Fallen Order is way overated. It's short, un interesting, and clunky. It has some enjoyable moments but becomes very repetitive.
Disney: the place where good stories go to die.

The cure for the Disney and EA problem: setting them both ablaze and watching them burn to ashes.
Disney may be too big of a globalist monopoly to Go Broke after Getting WOKE, but at least we can boycott shit to keep them from ruining it forever... essentially having to kill the things you love to let them end with Honor.
I used to work at a game store many MANY years ago. It frustrated me that EA was just seasonal with the crap they released. Just franchises that were updates year on year. Couldn’t believe how gamers were suckered into the gaming fashion to spend their hard earned money on the next years line of the same game namely FIFA, MADDEN, COD.
EA might go down while the pandemic is happening and Disney will become smaller.

@@HEROX05 Well, developers can also work from home. So after some Setup time, games shouldn't be delayed by much. Also more people do have time to play games now (there might be even a lot of new Gamers, that play for the first time and will stay).
Disney on the other hand, could lose to Games and is losing by not being able to make Movies and such atm.

God of War, Spider Man, Horizon, Fallen Order, Persona 5, Red Dead II, Witcher III. The list is longer than than a star's dick if it had one. Players love those experiences. What they hate is when piece of shit companies like EA butcher the game in favor of greed. Colonial Marines is one of the best examples of what drives players away. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Final Fantasy 7 remake sells far better than any EA Star Wars game has.

Mordo 2121 battlefront 1 was a good game but didnt have much content. Battlefront 2 was bad but is amazing now. Jedi fallen order is amazing

George Lucas selling Star Wars to Disney will always be a huge mistake. There's just no fixing the messed up travesty of Disney Star Wars trilogy. EA getting the gaming IP is another huge mistake. Even though Fallen Order turned out good, EA hasn't done much with the Star Wars IP, with several potential games cancelled, and a few really crappy ones. Star Wars brand is just so messy right now.

Just... George, buddy, cmon. When’s this quote from? 2013? Think about all the games that had been out then that had amazing storylines. A lot of Star Wars games had amazing storylines. KOTOR had already been out for years by then and that’s one of the best stories in video game history. Hell, it’s one of the best Star Wars stories every told.
What's funny is that SW movies have the most basic plots you can think of, it's fantasy knights in space, and the protagonist is the chosen one and goes from zero to hero to defeat the villain.
Plot twist : the princess is his sister.
Honestly, I would not mind gameplay over story. My favourite SW game is Rogue Squadron. I barely paid attention to the story as a kid, my focus was on how cool it is to fly an X-wing and take down tie fighters. A gameplay driven arcadey dogfighting game is way batter for me than any story driven rpg when it comes to SW. If I wanted something deep and thoughtful, I wouldn’t be watching SW.

Honestly its wild that over ALL THESE years we got more cancelled star wars games than actual released ones of which only 1 was good. CT-2020 man force unleashed 1&2 for as many flaws as they had were great star wars games, and force unleashed 2 was a one of the few light saber combat games with dismemberment and unusually good visual fidelity for the title. Both massively underrated.
Well to be fair, for a time there was a clear disdain for linear games. I've always loved them, personally. But around the time Skyrim came out people were only hyped for open world games. Only recently have linear games started to regain traction.
Nathan Whiting I mean plenty of “open world” games are just disguised linear games anyways and Doom 2016 is one of the most popular games anyways and it’s very linear
CT-2020 but doom 2016 is anything but open world, it has big arenas to fight in but that’s it, maybe you’re thinking of eternal where you can go back to previous stages from your hub.
Edit: oh now I see what you mean, yeah doom is linear but popular, but that’s because it was sustained by its fanbase for all these years before doom 2016 released, if it weren’t for the fervent fanbase and the awesome mods like brutal doom Id software new doom probably would of been different.
I've already left the Star Wars hype train as there's not really anything going on in that universe except poorly directed movies and greedy live service platforms.
Don't get me wrong, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order was a good game and I really liked it, but a single game doesn't chance EA's past track record.
Even Jedi was just a way to make money. Did you notice how short the game was? The only reason it felt long is cause you get killed like 20 times with each boss. Honestly, it was a huge let down. It had so much potential too. The only thing Disney is doing sort of right with Star Wars is The Mandalorian in my opinion... And that's not even made by Disney technical hahahaha

@@codyfitzgerald5077 The game wasn't that difficult and it definitely wasn't short, the length of the campaign is decent even if you don't take your time to explore the levels and get the 100%.
The Mandalorian isn't excellent but it's way better than the sequel trilogy in general without a doubt, in my opinion people overrate it a bit for that but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy the show or that it isn't great.
The last season of The Clone Wars is very good too and it's made by Disney so you can add it to the list.
And for the videogames... LEGO STAR WARS: THE SKYWALKER SAGA LOOKS INCREDIBLE! I have no doubt it will be the best Lego game yet, EA doesn't put its dirty hands in these games so we don't have to worry about it.
I remember the good ol top text botton text days when the "It's a trap" meme wasn't being used to kick off a Federal investigation.
One of the games you hadn't mentioned was Star Wars: Empire at War, which is an RTS, one of my personal favorites, the devs who made that game have expressed interest, or perhaps even hinted making a new Star Wars RTS game, this was brought up after they made the game not have to use the now dead Gamespy servers, and also added Steam Workshop to the game.
Also i had no idea about Project Orca, as it sounds like my dream Star Wars game, it honestly makes me think of a Star Wars version of Mount and Blade, that would be amazing, but EA would rather scratch their balls while sitting on a gold mine, because if a single person at the executive meetings cared about Video Games or Star Wars, then they could have billions from give all Star Wars fans something they want...
Empire At War is one of my favorites of all time. Thanks for mentioning it. Think I'll dust it off and give it another spin.
The workshop mods (fans) have made the game even more fun than when it first shipped.

Empire at War was such a beautiful broken mess and it made my childhood. I played empire and loved my AT-AT spam. Nothing like dropping ten walkers and having each deploy a company of stormtroopers to make the other guy on Galactic Conquest suffer.
The expansion was also ridiculously good as well.
Modern Star Wars has been offensibly bad, it's a contest for who's mucked it up the most. But EA is definitely in the top 3.

Im probably not even going to upgrade to a ps5 when its released, i cant even remember the last truly enjoyable console game i played (wait, yes i can, god of war 4). Which sucks coz gaming used to be a major source of happiness for me, whereas now its just reoccuring disappointment. . . What happened to the days of games like shadow of the collosus? What happened to creating art for arts sake. . . Maybe im just bitter.

You can still access emulations of Star Wars Galaxies. They don't include Jump To Lightspeed and I hear they never will, but the basic game remains enjoyable.

I know this game is not too close to star citizen ,but I can highly recommend Starsector you won’t regret it. it’s in the theme you want, but a lot less story driven, the game really encourages pragmatism you smuggle,fight,and could build your own faction it doesn’t do ground combat instead you operate entirely in space but that doesn’t make the game less playable I recommend Sszentach review the game is only $20. The game is 9 years old and still has updates to grow the galaxy it’s great

The prequels are still subpar as a standalone three film series. It's the side materials, especially the Clone Wars which made them "good". It also shows that ideally the sort of story the prequels wanted to tell is best suited as a TV series and not a movie trilogy.

Because the sequels suck so incredibly badly, people forget that he didn't know his own IP in the early oughts. He wasn't forced to sell it to the "white slavers." He wanted to. Maybe he regrets it, but he didn't want the IP. At the time, he saw it as a burden, not an asset.

The thing i loved about old star wars even if you didn't like the movies there were the shows, if you didn't like them there were the games, or comic. You had great options from different places and for the most part it was all amazing. You could tell The old lucas film and arts cared about the product. You can't see that in Disney.

I would take an average story-based game over a great multiplayer-only game anyday...
Especially since you can always go back to a single play game years later and still get the full experience. Multiplayer games die within a few years as the bulk of players move on to the next new hotness. Eventually those online servers get shut down and you are left with a disk that you can do nothing with.

We were faithful fans, so hopeful and we, like Lucas, trusted that Disney was going to do right by the franchise and fans since the MCU did just that...disappointment all around.

In the prequel era we got MULTIPLE TREND SETTING GAMES EVERY YEAR! Especially from 1997-2008, we would get multiple games that would push their respective genres forward instead of just being wannabes like Fallen Order

MahCHESTRO Flat out lies. Demons Souls came out over 10 years ago and even it has more fluid combat mechanics than the stiff, limited move set in FO. Same goes for Uncharted 1-2, which by the second game even the white bird shit covered cliffs indicating climbable surfaces was already done to death. Nothing ‘groundbreaking’ about fallen order badly copying and pasting tired mechanics in a WORSE and less interesting way and not being able to link them all together to form a compelling gameplay loop. Absolutely no excuse for that sort of thing. There are plenty of modern games that challenge conventional genre staples or mix and match between them much more successfully. FO’s perspective was “if it ain’t broke, copy it in a broken way” because for all the things it copied it does none of them better. It improves none of them. What’s the point of labeling yourself as a Metroidvania when your world traversal is mindless, does not allow for player expression nor lend itself well to fun platforming. “Hold stick forward to slowly watch Cal traverse a tight wall opening” over 30 times throughout the course of the game is mindless and uninteresting. If FO came out 10 years ago it would’ve still gotten beaten by the Jedi Knight games in terms of lightsaber combat with tighter, better stories and more player freedom. Not to mention by all those other games that had already done all the other things like platforming and combat infinitely better. And that’s still no excuse for not having anything new or interesting to bring to the table. The only reason EA didn’t cancel fallen order like it cancelled Amy Henning’s Star Wars game was because that game was going to take a lot more work and time to make due to its larger and more ambitious scale. Fallen order is the opposite of ambitious it was a derivative, clunky, generic and forgettable game that only looks okay compared to the greedy messes that are the EA battlefront games.

I'll Give DICE one thing about BF2, the game is fun as hell now, they turned it around well.

I don't even call the things EA does "mistakes" anymore. A mistake would imply that they feel some remorse and that it wasn't always part of thier plan to begin with. But people are just gonna buy stuff anyway so they'll keep getting away with it.

The thing is EA has to take more risks. They dont take enough risks. Like this type of game is different, different story, new elements, and all that stuff. All they focus on is money. Dont get me wrong money isnt bad but it shouldnt be your first priority/reason for making it. Sure making money is high up there on one of the reasons, but If the game or product is good then the money will be coming in whether they like it or not. Like they dont have faith in their own company anymore and not taking risks. Like that old phrase Build it and they will come. If you focus on only money it will only bring more problems.
And even if money IS your first priority/reason for making it, at least have enough brain cells to recognize that doing a lazy half assed job will only cost you much much more money down the line when your reputation tanks.
Of course, the bigwigs who are the ones actually making the decisions don't care because they'll get paid hundreds of thousands, laugh their way to the bank, and retire to big mansions regardless of how much everybody below them especially fans and gamers in general get screwed over.

Remember that suspenseful scene in Revenge of the Sith when Anakin and Obi Wan had to land a giant, plummeting spaceship on a runway that was made for aircraft that cannot vertically take off.
I mean it was at the time when Lucas was having PTSD when making a new Star Wars TV series so before the agreement to give the rights to Disney, it was a 4 billion dollar deal. There's no way anyone would ditch a multi billion dollar deal. But what pissed me off was why Disney shut down Lucas Arts and gave the exclusive video game rights to friggin EA.

Not that Im a fan of sjw's, but political messages and social conditioning/narratives always has been a part of the entire entertainment industry. The only reason why you notice it now is cause people are being targeted who were largely left alone till recently, so to this extend many anti sjw's are just as naive as sjw's (and in many cases also just as hypocrite).
Respect is earned, and EA is still digging themselves out of the deep metaphorical hole they created with Battlefront 2. Not getting any of my money to EA or Disney for a Star Wars game until they can fully climb out of said hole.
After EA said to cut all pay to win BS the devs actually did a pretty good job cleaning BF2EA up but there are still problems with progression order that I'm convinced are artifacts of that.
