This is what ive been thinking too. Im partial to darker hair anyway but - thats how i feel w hers (and mind) as i recently went bob’ish in length (lots of damage still needing to grow out) & then from a light brown to a brown black or black brown whatever it was ❤
You are the best Mel. A year or two ago I accepted I have wavey hair and need to care for it more with the CGM but I’m still finding out what works and doesn’t work for me and after recently finding your channel, it has made it more motivating and easier for me to find products with your helpful tips! I recently cut my own hair while watching your hair cutting video and it worked amazing! Thank u so much Mel for always helping us.
It drives me crazy how perfect y'all's hair is while I do my best and get a disgusting frizzy mess... What am I doing wrong I am tired of tying my hair up because it looks bad 😭
I’d say you’re at a point where consulting with a curl specialist, ideally in-person so they can get hands on with your hair, would be most helpful. Many of us think we have accurately determined the characteristics of our hair (curl type, porosity, density, etc.) but we haven’t. Then we use products, application methods, and styling techniques targeted for what hair we think we have and not what we actually are working with. We then get results we are unhappy with no matter how much time and effort (and money!) we put in. All my life I was told I had super thick, coarse hair. Really, the people telling me this just assumed that because I have tight spiral curls. I actually have medium to fine, medium density hair. Once I realized that with the help of a curl specialist I started using products that I wouldn’t have assumed would work for my hair but gave me much better results. Also, with curly influencers you’re seeing immediate results often and not how the hair changes throughout the day. Their hair gets frizzier as the hours pass, trust me.
The way you looked- hair tucked behind the ear- just like cute & young & simple - (to me) is exactly what ive been wanting for a few years now. Letting it grow and not touching it is so impossible ❤
Thank you so much for this video! I watched it and went this weekend to buy a Denman brush and the Verb foaming gel. My hair today is the best it's ever been. I've never had curl clumps this big. And they're still bouncy and shiny. Thank you for showing us this.
The dark hair looks so good with your coloring. Your face looks so pretty. Also, thanks for showing the difference with these. I bought the foaming gel and was unsure of how to use it.
I just ordered the AG mousse gel, seeing as it's FINALLY back in stock! Never tried it, hoping for good things, even if the dry air is taking its toll on my wavy/curly hair type. In the summer, your foaming gel was EVERYTHING to me. I emptied one right away and had to order another... then fall hit, and my routine changed. My curly stylist told me that, with the extreme dry weather here, I should focus more on moisture and just assume my best life curls are gonna be back when the humidity returns. I got such definition with the foaming gel, though. Can't wait for summer to come back.
I, too, would love to see some teaching techniques for cutting & styling short, curly hair. I recently got a “shag-type” cut on my “very curly in back & under-layers and wavy/lazy in front & on the canopy” hair. I struggle with volume in the front & went shorter to get more volume. It helped but I now want to cut the bangs shorter than what they are now, which is side-swept. They still fall forward into my eyes & annoy me.
@@ManesByMell Hii, do you think you could do a tutorial for cutting shorter curly hair? Like bixies etc, or even longer like chin length hair. Thank you!
Your videos are great. Both entertaining and informative (plus you’re a real character 😉). I finally realise that I have wavy hair. I’ve used a brush and hairdryer all my life and struggled with persistent “fluffiness” especially now the greys are peaking through and are even wavier and harder to manage than my dark hair. It only looked really good when the hairdresser used a straightener. Mousse and my diffuser have halved my hair routine 🙌 thank you ❤👋🇦🇺
I really loved your foaming gel from Verb! It is just what my fine, thin wavy/curly hair needed to look fabulous! Unfortunately, I had to stop using it after a few weeks as the fragrance was irritating my scalp and the skin of my neck. Those areas got itchy and started breaking out a bit. Argh! My sensitive skin betrays me, yet again!!!! Anyway, I don’t know if a fragrance free version of the product is in the works but feel like it would be a wonderful addition to your collaboration with Verb! Thanks for all your advice over the years! You’ve been such an amazing source of info as I learned to embrace my natural hair texture! ❤
@@katlovegood4921 No problem! I’m not sure why so many of brands are so obsessed with adding superfluous scents into their products. Not only does it irritate the skin of people like you and me, but does it really enhance the experience of using the product that much? Idk, it’s super frustrating. I always sniff products in store if possible.
Wow thank you!!! I’ve been using the foaming one like the mousse one and was wondering why my hair wasn’t cooperating. I will try it this way. Thank you!!! 🎉
Looove your dark hair and this new info. I’m curly girl but on the frizz side, it’s difficult to define but mousse works best with my hair than gel, I didn’t know about this two variants
beautiful 🎉 I have such a hard time figuring out how to section to apply products. I do really like the Verb foaming gel. It's the first mousse type product I've tried. I think I just am not applying properly 😅
okay but - how about both? 😝 a little foaming gel brushed through, a little mousse gel with le scrunch, and dry...then perhaps break the cast a little for more volume (once fully dry of course)?
This was very helpful. Thank you. I have been doing different techniques each time to see what is working and this video and your tips how to use them helped me realize WHY I like to use the mousse/gel mixed and squish it in. I suck at ribbon curling my hair. My brain, hands, and eyes dont work well together..🤣 Thank you again. You've helped me to help my curls a lot.
Thanks for this video! I’m going to finally try AG’s mousse gel. It’s the product my hair wants. I prep with BC’s clump and define cream though because my hair is coarse.
For the inital side by side Mell giving the eyes 👀 to the foaming gel😂... did u save it Mell? Gravity was not playing, that thing was moving mo expirements yes please. The results are always fascinating. Brushing through seems essential for definition and there was a slight difference in volume but barely noticeable💜💜💜💜💜
Thats what my hair looks like when its wet..never tried any of that kind of stuff, it always looks flat, and kind of straight, I'm gonna try it tomorrow and I'll tell you guys how it goes (im using foam and a curl enhancing shampoo)
I thought you weren't using the brush anymore?! I've learned quite a bit about my curly hair from you. One thing I've learned is I don't need to use 3/4 of the crap you suggest to use. A sulfate-free shampoo, a good conditioner, curl spray and curl cream, works great for me. My hair is almost to my waist, I have 3A hair, it goes into ringlets as it starts to dry. I use small, not tiny, claw clips at the top and it air dries naturally. When I take the clips out I have lots of volume and curls. I'm 65, a retired hairstylist, and have never allowed myself to be a slave to my hair. There's no way I would spend more than, at most 30min on my hair! I also trim my own hair every 3 months. Much love from 1 curley lady to another. 🙏🏻❤💜
I don't like brushing wet hair because it stretches the strands & causes breakage. How do you keep your hair from feeling filmy with all the products you put in your hair?
Ugh I have curly hair!! But have never known how to wear it properly so I always blow dry my hair straight. But I know my hair would be much healthier if I found a way to style the natural curls. Def going to be trying all of your techniques!
Do you need a cut for a good shape? Then use only one or two products for a couple of weeks to see how they are for you? I accept my hair is different every wash which I don't like but a good cut is crucial. And hard to find. Good luck.
I bought your foam from verbs website. Verb sent me my package with no protection. Ghost oil leaked all over box. Foam lost its seal and leaked so it wont pump out foam. Ive been using the sudsy water foam and its not for me. I need more hold or i puff up. It just doesnt feel nice on my hair. I emailed verb and they never got back to me. I did enjoy the cream in your collection, although for the size id never buy it again. Idc if its expensive persay, but my st. Ives face scrubs are bigger. Give me a decent amount of product if im spending a lot of money. I have a lot of thick thirsty hair.. 😅
I can’t never get my hair like this, i have thin hair and little bit of hair. Would like to change my straight for my curly but i can’t never make it look like this. It always looks wet and thin. Not full. I don’t know what else to try
When I scrunch my clumps break into tiny stringy limp sections. Unless my hair is absolutely sodden which then requires more product because half just drops out. Suggestions?
@@destinyh3717 medium to low porosity, 3b on a good day, medium thick strands. No coloring or chemical treatment, hard water, low UV exposure, length is mid back when wet, only brush when wet with wet brush or denman, not very oily, air dry or low to no heat if I diffuse because heat makes the frizz worse.
