Yes! Electro Swing is awesome, and Caravan Palace are really good. I think you chose their best song, but their strangest music video for your first reaction to them
I just simply liked how they pretty much made animals realistic by those little details. Like who noticed when the cats sit down the cat shook his ear. Surely mostly people who have pets.
yeah. one would think people would be less surprised by an antropormophized stripper antelope bathed in blood. I don't even know if I'm being sarcastic
Caravan Palace makes some good music. Their videos can be very risque, but the music itself is good. They are one of my favorite bands from this genre.
Lone digger by urban dictionary is: A person who dances by themselves at a night club or disco " Have you seen that guy at the club? He's such a lone digger" It's about that stripper just enjoying the music and ignoring everyone else.
I'm 35, I love Caravan Palace, I also love Heavy Metal, Rock and more - but something about their genre Electro Swing is absolutely brilliant and mixes all the best bits of Modern Electro and Classic / Vintage Swing! It is Excellent to dance to the band have amazing talent and the lead singer is incredible! This video is one of their weirder ones, but it has a story to tell, it's well animated, fun to watch and as you said - your son is 18, therefore an adult. I highly recommend you try "Clash", "Rock it for me" etc as they are where the band really has it's roots. As other comments have echoed, everyone who has kids seems to think their music is trash and their kids seem to think their parents music is "old" - one of the things I like about Electro Swing is how it mixes the two, the band plays most of their own instruments so get that excellent swing, jazz feel but make it new and fresh! Also hit up Postmodern Jukebox for the opposite - New Music in an Old Style - especially their version of "Creep" by Radiohead - they also do some Swing / Jazzy versions of Korn, Metallica and more!
I'm 70 and our musical taste most definitely cross paths though not remotely metal. Both PMJ and CP are on my playlist. The last concert I will have ever gone to was PMJ here in NOLA. Nice to meet your musical tastes.
Is it bad I liked that song? haha not sure I should admit that. Not sure of the actual video but the song was good. It's something my daughter ( 20yrs) would listen to.
Your good bud. The video is a bit weird, but the music is still good. This is coming from a kid 18 year old kid that grew up with everything from Beatles to linkin park. So take this with a grain of salt.
Why not introduce him to some of your favorites? I'd love to see his reactions to Dimash, PTX, and Home Free and compare his 1st time reactions to yours.
Electro swing is absolutely one of the more the more enjoyable and clever genres that have become popular over the years. As a metal head I thoroughly enjoy the higher emphasis on instrumentation, which the previous pop and hip-hop dominated decades have been increasingly and now almost utterly devoid of. A breath of fresh air tbh...
#1. Like your cap, from Pittsburgh here. #2. 65 years old and I love the song AND accompanying animation. I own three young Tom's from the same litter and a Doberman. It can get interesting lol. #3. Remember how your parents didn't understand your music? I remember Zeppelin being called thumpa thumpa music. You don't want to know what the Beatles were called. Chill, he'll be fine.
Caravan Palace is a great live band too, brilliant musicians through and through. I love metal and progressive rock, but electro-swing is definitely an interesting style to dig into - and pays homage to the great jazz of the 1920s, the golden age of Django Rheinhardt, Stephane Grappelli etc.
ok but was the video so over the top compared to your typical battle animation or horror movie? it was, in my opinion, the good kind of gore, with some thought and artistic value behind the gouging (think kill bill). and the music is fucking great.
well, that was...something else. Probably will never stumbled upon it if i were to search for myself but hey we're seeing and learning things everyday i guess? ._.
one thing is the song, another the music video. The music video is usually (if even) just watched once by a person upon discovery, from then on probably never again.
Honestly I personally don't listen to music without watching the music video as well. After all the video plays an important role for some context of song lyrics and so on most of the time.
Well, I am 30 years old and I love this kind of Tarantino-gory-ridiculous-parody-action style... dont be so conservative, it is just fun clip. And btw, I love classic rock too, like Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Sabaton...
I think the problem is that you're trying to find too much logic in a video about a group of cats going to a club and getting into a lethal bar fight with a group of dobermans.
"son we need to talk ?" wow im glad my childhood was way more fun than the one your kid is having, i've watched a few violent movies and played violent games and i'm still not a sociopath.. grounding him for such trivial things is pointless or will make it worse, you are a weird dude
I found your channel because of your reaction to Haley Reinhart. Was scrolling through your reactions when I found this one and frankly was surprised. First off the video has nothing to do with the song. They just employed the video makers to do a couple of vids for them, Miracle being the other one and again, nothing to with the song. None of my friends can get into them though we went to plenty of weird shows in the 70s (think Mother's of Invention/Frank Zappa for instance). Yet for me, Caravan Palace rocks my soul, and had they been playing electro-swing back they would have been one my favorite live acts to see. Visit some of their earlier videos done at shows. Sure, their music has evolved, and they lost not only band members but fans too. Yet they have some great musicians playing lots of instruments from fiddle to vibraphone to bass sax to clarinet. I can understand how they might not be your cup of coffee, but coffee mixed with red bull they are. It subjective but imho they ...king rock!
Caravan palace is great. Most original sound I've heard in a while. They got their start making music for porn. New album comes out on the 30th. Check out mirical and wonderland if you want more.
Not my cup of coffee, to be honest. Music...eh.. I'm such a hard core rocker, this electric or whatever techno stuff, is not the genre I would ever listen to (same with rap) but I'm old school and grew up in time when music was music. The video, no hell no....
Don't discount electro swing based on that one weird clip. It's a very cool genre with some fabulous artists involved. Toe tapping fun!
... I got into it BECAUSE of the clip haha

YOUR SON IS A LEGEND
This song and video is amazing, surprising to see people not liking it (even though music taste is subjective), as this is a first for that.
yeah. one would think people would be less surprised by an antropormophized stripper antelope bathed in blood.

I don’t think the music is what people take issue with

I wish I had a dad like you, You seem cool.
I absolutely love it! Caravan Palace is outstanding and wild!
I also love Perov Stellar. Listen to them too.
2:14 Not just cats and dogs, its the New Cats and the Old Dogs. Pretty much every animal choice in the vid is their actual role in the club.
I know I’m late, but now that it’s come out, you HAVE to check out moonshine. It’s by the same band, btw.
Background of Caravan Palace:
Started off by making background music for French porn films.

I think Beastars likely got influence from it, the stripper stuff and all that.
Its less about furry stuff, its more about the characters actual roles in the club. Youve got the new cats, the old dogs, the snakes, etc etc etc.

also i listened to the song for a year before finding out it had a music video. it's just electro-swing to me (billy joel reference for you boomers)

That Beastars scene with the stripper likely took inspiration from this video.
@stevenmontesa8509 Actually, “Lone Digger’ came out in 2015, the Beastars manga didn’t come until the following year.
That was interesting
can't blame him the song is fucking amazing
